Battlegrounds PvP gear

Dear All,

im looking at grinding a lot of honour to get ranks and upgrades for my teams later.

However do I need to be concerned rolling my teams into places like AV?

Is there anyone doing heavy farming of bg’s in mass public areas and no issues?

This is more of a risk Assessment!

just like on retail, if you can prove yourself useful without follow there shouldn't be any problems. The shaman 4 warrior team does fine in av but i place myself mid and farm kills with IWT only. I dont play offense/defense due to the lack of multipassenger mounts and tbh, most of the time horde wins anyway before the afk debuff would remove you.

On a side note, I've experienced less hostility in classic battlegrounds than back in the follow-working-days on retails, despite being way less useful here. Most conversations I have are either how much time I spent on arena runs or wether I am that shaman from wotlk.

If you just world PVP you should be fine. I run a 10 man MMMMP x 2. Recently hit rank 8 just from doing pvp an hour or two a night. If you went to silithus and BRM you'll find more than enough honor to get you to 10 quickly.

im struggling with gearing the shaman as i run a 5x shaman compilation and limits my access to gear, i am not 60 yet as this is a new team on a new server.

However, how do we address this without a multi mount? i am hugely limited to dungeons since follow went.

Ideas?

I dont really want to bin off a shaman for a tank

I am struggling to see if i can get out of green gear and if its going to take me weeks or months.

I'm compiling a list of gear (and taking my sweet time doing it too) that weighs effort spent / value gained of pieces with elemental shamans in mind. Stuff like t2.5 should be the end goal, but you would have to be an absolute mad lad to raid AQ 5x a week.

I'd also start solo pugging ZG as a resto shaman - no one really needs the ZG pieces / heart of hakkar anymore

Also, the rare caster gear from ZG is solid.

All these pieces are the low hanging fruit of "good" gear. I need to put some more thought into this, though.

Edit: In reference to your "risk assessment", I got a temp week ban for AFKing AV to exalted 5x at once when it first came out. This was before you could group queue so they were all in different BGs. If you're gonna play AV - make sure to play. You will get spam reported. My ban was immediately overturned without any input from me, but honestly, I should have had to deal with it. No idea why blizz flipped it.

ive been doing this since and I’m rank 4 already, this is what I will have to do for now.

is there no way I can enter bg’s like basin or wsg and just fight in the open lol? not sure if it would mould well with everyone else being crippled and less effective without mobility.

world PvP is ok but I do at times struggle to find players at my level.

So Im doing it for a while now, stationary grind at flagroom/farm and slow push with the zerg in alterac...I mean it works out in honor/hr but Im really curious if blizzard takes action against it in the near future given how many times i get reported for giving my team (atleast ab& warsong) an auto loss. The reason Im doing wsg/ab is because my server is 99% horde and alterac has absurd queue times.

The dungeon set 2 gear is pretty much on par or even better for some classes than the PvP rank 10 gear.

Yes I was wondering that too, even if we have low chance to get it in arenas ... currently i'm in a state where I ask myself too many question about that.
My main team is a MMMMP (my main mage is R13 + 120 days played) and i don't know if i should try BC as WMMMP or something else. But 5 sham seems to be so fun and insane and you can do both (pve / pvp)... 5 druid for farming too... so I don't know xD !

I know people are sort of managing BG's without follow but it just seems like such a headache I can't make myself try. Though I would LOVE the epic staff from AB exalted on my warlock team. Would be perfect for their tank sets with the bonus armor and decent spell damage.

Hoping follow works in TBC arenas, at least.

Tried today, it's really difficult to move them but when you get a good spot and you fire like a turret you kill everyone. Pretty fun.
I think atm the best way is to duobox in battleground.

In alterac its a bit annoying until the game goes into the upwards zerg progression where horde pushes slowly into dun baldar. Until then its most convenient to wait at the little hill at iceblood gy (next to the flag) in case alliance dodges our raid and runs through. I can tell you that little hill gives nice visual cover and you are barely in range of the flag with 36 yard spells allowing you to reck 5 people before they even notice you're there. Also, from that hill you have a nice position to scout the alliance raid with farsight and progress from there. If they wait at stonehearth gy you may just push with you raid all the time, if they're not there you can expect them to push iceblood sooner or later.

At this point alterac works so well Im not bothering with the other BGs anymore as they just delay av queue pop. Unfortunately, burning crusade alterac will be a different story...but defending in dreks room is multibox friendly aswell (afaik you can IWT on drek to regroup).

Do you simply queue at the same time or select a specific AV to get all 5 into the same AV? What is the success rate/wait time respectively?

I'm rank 8 on my 5x warlocks from 400HKs a week in world pvp, just been steady steady over the weeks

You can queue alterac with a 5 man group, that was implemented some time after the the BG was released. On EU realms, horde wins 98% of alterac battles almost flawless, and just this alterac weekend that was 7k+bonus honor with 45 minute invite time (outside av weekend its like 1h15-1h30). I have a friend who grinded alterac exaltet on alliance in the past weeks and he got one victory from neutral to exaltet. Usually horde only loses to russian premades. I dont really know the exact reason for that as alliance never changes strategy and always loses the big fights but idc :)

In Classic Horde has both a significant starting position advantage and a significant grave yard advantage. That and overall Horde has better PVP racials.
