Hello,
I am fairly new to boxing, been at it maybe a year. I am planning a new build since my current rig cant handle a 5 man team on retail.
I have read all the minimum req and done some research, however before ordering I would appreciate any input from the community.
The hardware I am looking at likely exceeds the req but I want to make sure as to not make a costly mistake.
I will be running 5 man team and would love it to be as fast and smooth as possible.
I plan to get -
i9 10900k
Asus ROG Strix z490 E
Corsair Dominator Platinum rgb (4x8) 3600 CL16
Samsung 970 evo plus 1TB
NVIDIA 3080 or 3090 ( waiting on confirmed specs, ram will be between 10 and 24)
I am also not sure on the monitor yet but want a good 32". Would also appreciate opinions on monitor/tv (curved preferred)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If I am missing anything let me know.
Thank you in advance

I use UltraWides (https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-ultrawide-monitors). I prefer them over 4k.. i just love the screen real estate! I am also going to be building a new PC. Same CPU as you, whatever flagship nvidia card (3090 with 24g ram more than likely). The 10900k should be more than enough for my needs. Although both intel and nvidia have online events nest week, so we can see the actual products and when we can order. ( everything has been "leaks" so far.)
That's a pretty nice build!
If you're considering AMD at all, I recently did a build with:
AMD Ryzen 3950x
MSI Unify 570x
G.SKILL Trident Z Neo Series 128GB (4 x 32GB) DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200
2TB Sabrent Q Rocket SSD m.2 (holy poop that thing has some FAST load times)
1200 EVGA Platinum+ PS (literally nothing smaller was available)
Corsair HI115 liquid CPU cooler
I reused 2x gtx 1080 Founders (non-SLI - SLI was insanely unstable in this new build) & a pair of 4k panels that are better for work than they are for gaming. I'm waiting for delivery today of the Alienware AW3420DW (34" curved, WQHD 3440 X 1440 120hz, gsync), and will almost certainly be getting an RTX 3090 to go along with it, and hopefully the leaks are correct that it has 24gb ram.
I have no ambitions to do more than MAYBE 8 box, though currently I 5 box, and the only real bottleneck I have is my GPU - I have the followers on one screen, and whatever my active character is is fullscreen 4k on the other - I'm not happy with the graphic performance in some cases, I'm still tweaking the console settings for swapping back and forth. It'll be interesting to see what happens when I move to the ultrawide & gsync.

Thank you both so much for the response!!
My worry mostly was if for some reason I end up going with the 3080 (if the 3090 is more than 1500) with the 10gb of ram
if I would have any issues running 1440p at min.
Also if 32Gb of ram is plenty, I realize its on the upper end of the isboxer min 5man req but want to make sure.

Thank you! Not really thinking of doing AMD this go around but who knows after this week may change my mind lol.

Here's hoping some 3rd party releases a 3080, or maybe even a 3070, with double the VRAM. I think a 3070/3080 with 20GB VRAM for even $100 more would be perfect. The 3090 looks nice, but also seems like overkill for WoW.

IDK, my home office gets pretty chilly in the winter - 3090 might be just right.
Really, I probably will go with the 3090 - my last video card purchase was 2x1080's which cost about the same. Overkill or not, it'll be nice to have that headroom for games other than WoW.

That spec is almost overkill, I barely cap my 2080 on 5mans on 1440p. WoW is very intensive on CPU, so I'd recommend adding a Noctua D15 (https://noctua.at/en/nh-d15-chromax-black) (the black one doesn't hurt the eyes) and doing a mild, yet respectful overclock. I have a lot less stuttering and frame drops with OC on my older cpu (8600k).
You'll be alright with that setup

how many core did you assign to every toon? and what are your graphic and fps settings? (i'm thinking to make a new build until the end of the year :-P )

If you plan to play all the games on 4k...dx12 and with good settings... holy batman, then you need the mother of all pc..
To figure out the pc you need.. just setup 1 game and then monitor the resources it uses... then x that ... f.ex with 5 if you plan to 5 box.. then add 1 more fake game (for the OS to have some breathing room) = you now know your minimum spec pc.
Remember 1 game at 4k is the same amount of pixels as 4 games running at 1080p..
For reference:
my 5man pcs... = 1080p, slot swap macros, 8gb gpu, 32gb ram, amd 3900x, 1tb nvme ssd 2gb/sec, direct x11 legacy. Slaves on min grafics... main on like 5++ and my fps are nice (45++). Running 2 x 24inch 1080p 60fps asus monitors per 5man pc.
My 10mans pc.. = 1080p, 2 x 24inch asus 1ms, 144hz, 16gb gpu, 64gb ram, threadripper 3960x 24 core, 1tb nvme ssd 2gb/sec, direct x 11 legacy, slot swap macros, slaves on min settings, main on 5+++. Fps 40++, main game hovers around 100fps.
Note that this performance is taken from my personal way of benchmarking: going all out in a 20man on massive trashpacks in a relevant content mythic raid instance, while monitoring usage of ram, etc etc. And i had decent amount of spare resources still available.
Ive never played wow above 1080p... but ofc that require more resources.. which will lower your fps / stable fps..unless you have the required speccs for the amount of games and settings you want to play at. 1440p supposedly looks awesome, compared to 1080p, so thats a step i would take, for future upgrade. Its gonna cost you though, if you plan to play multiple games (5+) per pc.

I just have all cores available to all toons, which is probably not optimal, but I haven't had any issues with performance at all on 5 characters, regardless of which zone I'm in or how crowded it is.
Graphics now is a 3090 FE, on a 1440 ultrawide @120 fps, with gsync. I haven't done ANY tuning yet - I plan on doing some slot swap macros that will turn down graphics settings for all the non-active characters, and turn 'em up for the active character when I switch toons.
Currently, foreground character is allowed to be 120 fps, background characters are 30 fps. Without doing ANY of that tuning I mention above, I'm able to run all slots at whatever an 8 out of 10 means to wow, and my active toon's FPS stays comfortably in the 80-90 FPS range which is quite nice. Once I tweak things, I'll be adding in a 4k display on the side for the followers.

I have 3090FE as well.. LOVE IT! I have two Ultrawides, am considering trying to run them both and see how it goes! But all the games i have now don't even make it sweat! Can't wait for Cyberpunk! I have not done two montitors in years. Two ultrawides might be a bit much lol

Being somewhat ridiculous, I would actually do 3 ultrawides if I did more than 1 ultrawide, because I'm addicted to not having a bezel in the middle now. With the second monitor being a 4k one, I can just plonk it on the side and still stare straight ahead at the main screen and the bezel won't bug me.
That card is a total beast, right? I am anxiously awaiting Cyberpunk's release as well.
