View Full Version : Major mythic plus changes in Shadowlands season one
Blizz announced the removal of skittish and teeming, which are two of the easiest affixes for us.
this changes the rotation possibilities quite a bit. Most of the rank 7 affixes are pretty rough now. Without seeing Storming, I’m concerned it will be difficult for us. Until I see it I can’t say for certain how bad it will be.
The silver lining is of course that it may be a while until we’re pushing 7s to begin with

Going to try and rank these for difficulty from what is known so far, hopefully it's helpful!
Level 4 Affix - Difficulty
Raging - Low : In the grand scheme of things this one doesn't become a massive problem until high keys.
Bursting - Low : It used to be quite high but it was nerfed to scale based off of key level and is now a really good affix
Inspiring - Low : I'm going to rank this one as low, it's a mini tides from Season 3 of BFA. There will be ways we can deal with it via cc is my guess if it's too big of an issue.
Sanguine - Medium/Low : For a ranged team, this should be low and for a melee team it's in the medium category or potentially hard. It was nerfed though from 60 second duration to 20 and is a lot more appealing now since the pools don't last forever.
Spiteful - Medium/Low : From what I have read on this and feedback from Beta, it's essentially a thing from beyond in BFA corruption but the good news is the entire team can see it and cc it. This shouldn't be too bad at our key ranges.
Bolstering - Medium/High : This can be a Low difficulty if you're able to spread your damage evenly and they all die as a pack - sometimes that just isn't the case and it gets out of hand. The biggest problem with this affix is that it adds a ton of extra wasted time if a mob gets too many stacks. The good news though is Blizzard is intending a design style change where large chunks of trash are not pulled together with the aoe cap. So if your pulling 2-4 mobs per chunk, and go slow and steady this is a non issue affix.
Level 7 Affix - Difficulty
Grievous - Low/Medium : This is considered a High difficulty currently, but with the changes it is receiving by scaling based off of keystone level and also reducing stacks with direct heals I think for our key range this will be a great one to go against. You'll definitely need a team that has a dedicated healer or great offhealing to make it work otherwise it's a Medium+ difficulty.
Necrotic - Low/Medium : Same scenario, lower keys stuff dies fast enough the stacks are not an issue, on a high key level or giant trash packs this is an issue. We should be ok.
Volcanic - Medium : This one will swing wildly depending on your team comp. This is a complete non factor for a melee team, and would be very easy, for a non mobile ranged team your getting close to Hard territory. It has been nerfed so I'm optimistic it won't hit that degree.
Explosive - Medium : They are making it easier to see the orbs in the next patch, if you have decent sustained damage these goes down very quickly. Otherwise it's a large annoyance and it may not be the best week to push a key.
Storming - Medium : Feedback on this one is that for ranged it's not that bad but is a nightmare for melee. Since most of our comps are ranged I'm hopefully this turns into a Low/Medium difficulty but time will tell.
Quaking - Red Alert : Ok so it's not the end of the world but it makes the dungeon unfun. I'm not trying to jade you on this if you've never experienced it, and actually after adding a Weak Aura alert it wasn't "That bad" but it's essentially a multiboxers hardest affix by far.
With all of this said, it's a bummer Skittish / Teeming were removed as they were affixes we as a team can deal with and still push forward, I'm still hopeful with the other changes made.
Once the scheduled rotation is published, we'll have a better idea on what weeks are the best for us to really try for those hard keys, in the meantime every key up to 7 should not be a showstopper as all of the lvl 4 affixes are within our toolset to handle.
Your preliminary rankings are good. I mostly agree with what you've put, but I really don't like to classify/quantify until I'm absolutely sure, and that won't be the case until we've seen the entire rotation. If they actually fix Volcanic and Grievous we might be in a good spot, but my trust in Blizz to tune things properly doesn't extend very far. If they don't fix it, it's going to be a rough go for us tbh.
The highest risk items compared to your rankings. By this I mean depending on how they tune it could make it difficult or easier:
Spiteful - Medium/Low : From what I have read on this and feedback from Beta, it's essentially a thing from beyond in BFA corruption but the good news is the entire team can see it and cc it. This shouldn't be too bad at our key ranges.
