Just looking for inspiration. I have yet to settle a "main" for myself, but likely I want something that includes leveling my Paladin and has a shot at clearing 5 man dungeons - What are you guys going for?

5 Paladins or 5 druids.. if they don't nerf gathering, ill level druids first. I am leveling a copied character of a druid and paladin in beta right now. The paladin is in the squished version of 466 gear. He feels like a god! 5 are going to be insane. Im not sure what level the 460 gear will be replaced, but hes 52 and has yet to replace anything. Once i level whatever team i chose first, i should have rested on the rest and will I rotate them based on rested exp.
Going to be my mix team - warrior/warlock,hunter,hunter/druid (tank/dps/healer) they cover most professions to.

Dependng on how pre-patch goes will have a month to decide but most likely 5x Druids, then 4x Shaman + Tank, the Trinity comp.
If anything ends up evolving as a stronger PvE mythic+ team for the Trinity comp I'll build around that.
Probably going to do Hunter Trinity and a melee PvP team. Will likely do druids at some point down the line for gathering but it won't be right away.
I'd like to experiment with some sleeper trinities in SL. Would really like to see a caster team go somewhere. That will likely be in the second or third content patch if I were to guess.

if you guys have beta..test some classes out. my Prot paly is not only soloing the group quests..he kills stuff as fast as his ret spec..both 120itl ( equil to 465 live ). He might be overtuned atm.. but 5 pals will rock i think.. easy roations etc. Im nervous about the eclipse thing for druids.. but no way to test that unless my other bnet gets beta..no luck so far.

Definitely my Paladins. They've been the team I've consistently enjoyed every expansion and they're receiving some changes that I find quite good. Probably not the best team as far as PVP or M+, but somewhat viable in both as well so not too worried about it.
For a secondary team I'm guessing I'll either do Warlocks or DKs (perhaps with a healer thrown in the mix).

What's current number 1 wPvP contender? I'm thinking DK but may still go with Druids for the stealth and versatility of heal/tank/dps?

Warlocks just got a HUGE buff in the return of Ritual of Doom  , so they are looking kinda terrible atm.

My usual x5 Hunters at the start
Have Beta access but cant box it, so I dont really play in Beta :(
But live definitely x5 Hunters - then maybe a mix team has lock, shammy and again hunters

Pally tank, druid healer, 3 hunters to start with assuming I end up going with 5, if I expand to 8 I'll grab another healer and a couple more hunters or maybe some other dps and just have some options for what teams to run as my 5 man team

I burn out fast so will probably be doing 10x at the same time rather than just 5 - my question is keep it simple and run 10x Druids or run my wPvP team (currently benched due to the 100% crit/vers Corruption builds one shotting them!).
This is the first xpac I want to try and do PvE from the start so not sure how I'll run it.

I will go for DK/Warrior/Shaman/Warlock/Priest.
This is just because I love how each of these classes have been reworked and I'm used to do daily / weekly quests with my team and then play them one by one to be able to easily swap mains when I play with my friends.
I'm thinking Pal prot/Pal heal/3x Shaman. Should be very resilient able to do most content. I'll maybe switch the tank for a war (because of flavor), but I feel that Pal would be easier and more versatile as a "first team" character.
I'm thinking 5x druids just so I can dungeon as I go, but 5x BM hunters just always feels so fun.

I'd LOVE help deciding, what would work best:
5 DH
5 DK
5 Pally
1 DH + 4 Druids
My gut says 5 Druids but I want to pvp and pve.

What do you like to do? If you like to do dungeons than
level 5 pally first since it can use trinity Heal/tank/dps
Level 5 DH or 5 DK next whichever you prefer.
You can use 1 pally in those groups and mix and match however you like.
All of those classes are strong going into SL's except DH. DH is struggling but maybe they will change some of the nerfs before release.

Thanks for the reply!
I swear I read that DH was strong as a tank for pve. What do I like to do? I'd say it is nearly 50/50. I love world and instanced pvp but equally adore instanced pve stuff. In BfA, I started boxing a truly mixed crew so I had a 120 of every class I wanted to try; Pally, DK, Druid, DH, and Rogue. Haha. I ended up focusing on my Pally first, then Druid, then DH and Rogue.
Watching Multidayz has me salivating over the Pally+Shaman team, I loved that set up, but that team vs. 5 Pallys/Druids capable of going tank has me wondering what I should do.

oh im sorry, DH as a tank is doing great, it's havoc that is in a bad spot after the last patch. Vengeance is better than they were in BFA which is good. DH tank x4Booms would actually really be good in SL's. Originally they overbuffed Havoc's new skills like the aoe glaives and it was pretty broken op. But their reaction to the DH haters was terrible and they nerfed it so much so that the next patch they extremely overnerfed it. They stripped it down to nothing so even if they buff the numbers that ability is still bad. Who knows, maybe next pass they buff everything else again and it's okay. They did want to make Fel Barrage build the main build. Silly blizzard.

Thanks. Your replies and research are helping me nail down my picks. I think I'm going 5 druids as my main team. They just seem solid, I enjoyed them in BfA, and they seem to be the way to go still.
As for my alt team, I'm going a main tank + 4 shaman. What's a recommendation for alliance race for the shaman? And Pally tank vs DH tank for that team?

I would go with Dwarves, probably the new Wildhammer customization, it looks amazing, but so do Dark Iron dwarves. Dwarves have a very slight dps advanage. I dont think alliance shaman races have any decent utility like a lot of the horde races.
Pally tank is just leagues above DH for boxing. If you dont care about all of the utility and ease of use a pally brings, then DH has better mitigation and chaos brands 5% magic debuff is great, but they require much more focus in SL's than a pally to be efficient and have trouble with aggro on packs that exceed the aoe caps, while pally has the best aoe snap aggro of all tanks.

Sorry for a little Necro action here...
Pally + 4 Shaman is a good combo for Shadowlands? That's amazing, that was my favorite team way back when!
But if I read all these comments correctly, 5 Pally's is a stronger group?

not necessarily.
The only advantage 5 Pally's have is that you can spec 5 tanks and gain supreme survivability at the cost of massive DPS loss. A lot of boxers enjoy brute forcing mechanics with 5 tanks, but when you reach a DPS requirement they get roadblocked. Pally + 4 Shaman gives you the choice of melee or ranged DPS. Pally + 4 Shaman gives you the utility of 2 classes. Shaman dps specs heal much better than Ret.
Neither outpaces the other when it comes to potential due to having a decent trinity setup available, and both are top tier class comps.
Anything could change due to Blizzard fumbling balance changes. We could end up with Enhance/Ele being way overtuned or a potato spec.

So i will probably start with a trusted trinity comp (ProtPally/ 3 BM Hunters / Restoshaman) and then either add 5 Druids or 1 ProtPally and 4 Shamans.

I will try a lot of combos, but my first will be DH, 3xBM, 1 RD. Followed by my 5 druids. Then probably a shaman team.
I thought about leveling one char first before leveling the boxes, as i would have daily quest access then with the teams. Not sure yet if i really will.
