View Full Version : Getting massive pain in wrist, any options?

So using my left pointing finger over and over and over for 12+ years of Multi Box gaming is really starting to hurt, badly, down to my wrist. Especially with GSE and macros on all 5 toons and using my #1 button to spam. I just spam spam spam spam. Right hand controls mouse obviously, and that is the logitech multibutton one with like 16 buttons on the side or whatever (G600 I think, which I use zero of, really need to try and set that up) but again, just not good at that stuff. and not sure what I can use it for. I know, sounds pathetic.
Is there anything out there that I can use legitimately to help with this. I heard of something like Auto Hot Key. I read a bit on it but Im just not tech savvy and didnt understand it and seemed like it may be banable. I have a Corsair keyboard, not sure if that has anything legit. I have tried different keys but its so awkward after doing it one way for so long. Any ideas?
what about gaming foot pedal

No, the program itself is not black-flagged by the WoW client, but I assume you're referring to a topic that was just recently discussed (https://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/57153-Consensus-on-GnomeSequencer-Enchanced-(GSE)).
The other alternative is to start doing wrist and forearm stretches: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=wrist+stretches+levi+harrison

Ahh didn’t see that thread. Thank you. Been doing those exercises for literally 5
years. Too much time playing MMORPG’s and using 1 as my hot key heh.
Thanks MiRai.

Maybe a keyboard with this could help + maybe also you can exhange the ones that are in different footpadels aswell: https://www.cherrymx.de/en/mx-original/mx-speed-silver.html
Also make sure you are sitting correct, posturewise, take 10-15 min break per hour, have a good chair.
I dunno about you, but if i get pain, i stop and evaluate why thats the case. I wouldnt dare carry on playing while in pain, fingers or back etc
You could try switch, use mouse with left hand and keyboard with right. It takes around 3 weeks or so to get decently good at it. Obviously frustrating the first weeks, but could be worth it for you in the long run.
Im getting old and worn aswell, just have to listen closely to what the body says. Whenever i get some light backpain, 45-60 min casual walk in the forrest or on uneven terrain and im just as new again.
Also, try spam that key less, no rush :) if possible, also make the key activate the keypress at "when released" too = double the actions per click.
Also: maybe it would be benefical to see a specialist about the wrist. If its "that" bothersome.

As wowbox40 says... change hands. Twenty years ago I got some carpal tunnel symptoms and successfully became left-handed. Sure you will have to switch a lot, if not most, of your keybinds around, but moving your mouse to the left is really the key to relieving stress on your right hand.

For pain relief try an infrared heating pad. Quite expensive but the heat penetrates and quickly eases the pain.

I would stay away from that "hold down the button and it spams commands until i release the button" as thats clearly automation. If that was allowed it would be a stand still farmers dream: just tape down the key and watch netflix. Better stop while you can. Personally i dont see the fuzz about minmaxing dps, its not worth the strain on the fingers spamming. Instead, figure out a relaxing tempo that suits you, and without getting any pain or discomfort. Then stick to that.

hm... wonder if there are any decent keyboard with a "scroll wheel on the left side of the keyboard: maybe its possible to bind f.ex the "1" key to both scroll up and scroll down (while also having the ability to use the mouse scroll wheel at the same time as normal). Maybe that would be more gentle for the fingers/wrist.
Or maybe some standalone external button which is a scrollwheel or a wheel of some sort, you can bind to the "1" key.

"I know it's against the rules, but I'm going to do it, and here's exactly how I'm doing it."
WTF? When has it ever been allowed on this site to state anything even remotely close to what is paraphrased above? Why would anyone, who has browsed this forum for more than a few minutes (which you certainly have), ever think that it's okay to post such garbage here on this forum?
it's not surprising that people who don't like multiboxers label us as cheaters, and it only takes one example like this to reinforce that stupid opinion of theirs. I'm somewhat embarrassed that I didn't refresh the site earlier today so that I could remove it sooner, and it's a little appalling that someone who recently told me that they wanted to make guides/videos for the community, is not only willing to engage in such behavior, but also publicly share it. It's great that you stopped doing it after it felt like cheating, but if you actually want to help the community that you want to be a part of, then be a better f'ing example for those you're looking to help.
This thread is done.
EDIT: To be clear, for those reading who are unsure of what happened, the offending post in question has been removed, which is why it looks like I'm a crazy person ranting about something that can't be seen in this thread, but some hints remain as to what it was.
