I have 5 characters who are at 26 level and I want to powerlevel them through sm to 40-44 level. What's the best way to do it?
I know that I can boost 4 of them with a mage in the group who will clear everything but what happens when you need to boost 5 of them?
Obviously you cannot boost 5 at the same time, when defining "boosting" as a way that a high level character is pushing you through instances.
Blizzard nerfed pretty much all possibilities to abuse the mob tagging system in the open world.
You still could just play your 5 man team and using natural or quest related hyperspawns or simply do instances; you still have a severe advantage when it comes down to just grinding your way up.
Second option would be to boost a 4man group twice, while the 1st team includes a mage that's pushing the 2nd, leaving you with 2 60s on 3 accs and 1 on 2 accs.

What about doing instances with a 6th member as a raid? does it reduce your exp gain by a lot?
I was considering outdoor mob tagging, is not viable anymore? what do you mean they nerfed it? I wanted to snipe outdoor elites with hunter's pet.
What if I boost 4 members of my team to X level and then switch the powerleveler for the 5th member leaving it to catchup over time. Eg. I have a WWWWS team, I powerlevel x3 warrior + Shaman to 40 and leave 1 warrior behind. How long will it take for the warrior to catchup with the rest?

I just finished leveling 3mage+priest with a level 60 mage.
I leveled in starting area till 8
8-12 rfc
12-25 in sfk
25-30 in SM
30-50 maraudon
50-60 brd gorshak.
I did it as a group of 4+1Powerleveler, you could cycle out the highest level PLee every 2 or so levels and bring in ur 5th if you need to powerlevel 5.

You get bugger all xp now for tagging a mob and having hunter pet snipe it.
I've been debating the best way to go about this myself. I started classic three boxing. Priest + 2x Mage. I did three because I didn't think my computer would handle 5. Well, it appears it does, so now I'm trying to boost two more mages. I now have a 3 lock / 2 mage team, but I'm wondering if it would be faster to just pull the 2 lock / 2 mage team with a 60 rather than level three...

For example Dynamur on the ISboxer Discord reported recently (3/20) getting 200K XP/hour 5box boosting other folk with his level 60 DMMMP team and has boosted multiple of his own characters (his own Mage, Warlock, and Warrior) with his level 60 MMMP 4man team. As discussed in the discord he has started as early as level 44 or so but typically recommends starting that at level 46+ or whenever the boosted character can reliably tag level 48+ mobs. To get to level 48 he either boosts him own alt and up to 3 other players with his level 60 Mage carrying 4 low level alts through dungeons (DM->Stocks->SM->etc)...
The above being said, it is hard to beat the simplicity & efficiency of just leveling up a 5man team of 4Mages+Priest from level 1 to cap in Dungeons (mainly avoiding bosses) and then you can use that team to help yourself elsewhere. If you already have a 60 mage you can also boost 3Mages+Priest but 4Mages+Priest from scratch is very solid...
To help you there are two guides linked in cyan/light blue on the 'Leveling' tab of the 'Classic WoW Planning' spreadsheet (the 2nd cyan link has a guide specifically for 4Mages+Priest). That tab also lists a recommended sequence of dungeons/instances to level by and the levels at which to start/stop each dungeon... You can copy it to your google drive if you want an editable version to track your own progress (the aStart and aStop fields were put there to track one's actual Start and actual stop for leveling a given dungeon). The link is for the Leveling tab is:

I have two questions,
Question 1: What awards the most experience from the below options when boosting a "single" character:
1. Leveling a 4-man team with an 60 mage through dungeons
2. Leveling a 2-man team with an 60 mage through dungeons
3. Leveling a 4-man team with an 60 mage through dungeons where the 3 alts of the team are dead
4. Leveling a 2-man team with an 60 mage through dungeons where the 1 alt of the team is dead
5. Leveling the alt alone with an 60 mage through dungeons
I kinda know how it works outdoors, bring a support 60lvl character or mass pull with an 60 and aoe with alt (I guess only if its mage class)
Question 2: What are the best spots for tag leveling at 48+?
A lot speak about tag leveling when the alt can tag 48+ level mobs because they are green to 60s. What are the best spots to level a 5-man team like this? is it better than running them to ST & BRD?
Does the hyperspawn list includes these hotspots at 48+?
I would prefer this method for teams who can't handle dungeons due to weak aoe. You can powerlevel a team up to 46 or so, SM cath & Maraudon can be done in 1 pull so it's very possible now. I don't know if they will nerf it.

Mob tagging the elites trolls in the hinterlands, very densely populated and think most are in the 47-49 ish range

I saw some other thread that said Blizz nerfed Gorshak - cannot confirm myself though.

What are the most popular tagging strategies? I was thinking something like buffing the alt tank with thorns or retri aura and having them body pull 4-5 elites at a time then aoe them down with your mages who are outside the group. At these levels the alt tank should have enough gear/talents to survive such pull.

In my experience reflect damage abilities did not cause mobs to be tagged. When I leveled my warrior via mob tagging I used grenades/dynamite and oil of immolation to tag with.
Note: I did this at around level 50 doing WPL farm areas, from 40-50 I did the elites outside of BRD mostly 1 at a time.

I boosted a warrior from 44-60 with a group of 60s (3 mages 1 priest) via the hinterlands elite trolls, then Hearthglen, then Tyr's Hand. Warrior was ungrouped, priest had macros to target heal him. Cast renew, charge him in, thunderclap, then go to town with mages. I averaged 95-110k exp per hour, consistently.
