Hi! First ever thread here.
as the title states I’m thinking of opening a second account to boost-box a new priest with my lvl 60 pre-raid bis mage.
I’ve screened the first pages of the forums for similar topics but can’t seem to find any.
Does anyone have any experience on this? I’d like to know the benefits and downsides, and the time I can save with this method of multiboxing. I know xp is nerfed in the open world but maybe group quests or dungeons? Is this a valid way to level?
When the priest is 60 I can start to duo dungeons together or boost another char, but for the moment I’d like to focus on getting the priest to 60. I play on a pve server so ganking will not be an issue.
Thanks in advance!

Gonna level with you here man, you sound like someone who’s only interested in multiboxing for the “free” lvl 60’s... probably why no one has responded here....
but since I’m a not so nice guy, I’ll bite...
generally speaking you cant boost your toons like that while multiboxing... the community is kinda based around people trying new things with different setups and tend to deal in 5’s not 2’s... having said that there are fair few dual and triple boxes around but they leveled up as a group...
if your looking to boost a priest I suggest just getting to lvl 18 if alliance regularly and spamming deadmines till 20 and then stockades 5 times an hour every hour until it’s grey to your priest. Then moving up to Sm graveyard before getting to library. Skip armory and go straight to cath... stay there until your 43 ish and then go to ZF and just aoe farm... if your good on your mage and you can park your alt out of the way of any patrols... Mara is a decent grind spot as well.
when boosting in a group like that you get more do grouped with 4 other players... so take three random people at the correct level range... put loot to FFA, put your toon on follow of one of the normal players and just run around killing everything...
sorry for the bad news but tagging / instance aoe leveling has been nerfed to near non existence. Unless you pay a warlock to follow you around and get his imp to fire bolt any mob you tag and don’t touch it himself as that seems to be the only option at the moment

You save a ton of time but you need to have more people in the group to bring the average level down. Typically the path for mage boosters is as follows:
8-16 RFC
16-21 WC
21-40 SM
40-50 Mara
Either watch some videos about how to do the above dungeons in one pull, or you can farm on your mage while getting boosted by someone else if that's not your thing.

This doesn't work either

I’m sure some commented that warlock and hunter pets out of group still work? Has that been nerfed?

I remember reading that comment too and tried it back then, didn't work.
Then saw your comment thought i'd try again and yeah didn't work, xp varied on how much damage the tagger did.

Three accounts need to be involved for that to work :)

Three accounts need to be involved for that to work :)Agreed that you need at least 3 accounts (and more is better) and they need to be grouped properly. As documented in the 'Boosting and PowerLeveling Thread (https://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/56540-The-Boosting-and-Power-Leveling-summary-thread)' pet tag boosting (approach 2B) you need at least 2 accounts in the group to be boosted though you can funnel the full XP to only 1 character if you release the 2nd character to a grave yard sufficiently far enough away that the 2nd character does not receive XP.

My best advice would be to dungeon grind the priest up, and sell xp runs for very cheap to get other people in the dungeon to bring the average levels down. Dungeons differ depending if you are alliance or horde. Every couple of levels you can stop and go do a good quest hub where you will stomp the green quests and get very good xp for turning them in.
