View Full Version : Any 2x Mage tips?
Well I'm leveling 2x mages (going to be frost) dual-boxing. Just wondering if anyone has some specific addons, tips, or macros.
Currently I have to bind 1 key on 1 screen for polymorph, another for frost nova, and then do totally different ones that I can't then use on my first box for the second box.
(Currently using F1 for leftbox sheep, F2 for right box sheep, 1 for leftbox frost nova, ~ for right box frost nova) and so on and so on. I know I'm going to have to do this with ice block and counterspell as well which is going to get hectic with the bindings.
So just wondering if there is a macro or something to make life easier..
Also another problem I'm running into is my character on follow is usually turned the wrong way to cast. Such as when I frost nova with mage 1, run through it or back up and then try to cast on the target.. mage 2 can't because he's facing the opposite way from backing up or running through.
Any help would be great, thanks

For frostnova you might want to use something like:
/castsequence reset=25 ,Frost Nova
and on the other character:
/castsequence reset=24 Frost Nova,
Bind them to the same key.
And for sheeping, I was thinking of this addon: RaidTarget (http://wowvault.ign.com/View.php?view=UIMods.Detail&id=312), you simply assign let's say, cross and moon to the sheep targets and use a macro like:
/rt cross
/cast [exists, nodead, harm] Polymorph
Bind it to the same key on both mages, it should not cast polymorph if you don't assign the target. Not sure if this works though, haven't tried it myself yet.

And for the second one that would only make it so one mage could sheep seeing as the second can't assign a raid target?
If you are using Keyclone then try the round robin function:
Bind sheep to F1 on both mages and add F1 to the round robin keys in keyclone (setup > roundrobin).
The RaidTarget idea sounds better for CC if it works ok but round robin is great for other functions.

It works for my Psychic Scream, which is the exact same macro.
As for the sheeping. The idea is that you set 1 or 2 raidtargets using your main. And when you hit that macro on both mages, the both start sheeping at the same time, but only their assigned target.
PS: If you can't get the FN macro to work, you could indeed try Round Robin.
Just tried RaidTarget, the addon no longer works due to the changes in 2.0 :(.

Id try to master the AoE ping macro and try to AoE grind
Id try to master the AoE ping macro and try to AoE grindI'm trying it now, just hit 20 on the mages so got improved blizzard now.. Been working on the range.. one thing I've noticed with it though is that it doesn't work in some areas.. like on bridges or places not on even ground.. just says target not in line of sight.

If you don't use focus for your assisting on your second mage, you could use a focus sheeping macro.
#showtooltip
/clearfocus [modifier:alt]
/focus [target=focus,noexists]; [target=focus,dead]
/clearfocus [target=focus,help]
/cast [target=focus,harm] sheep
With this, you'd be able to keep 2 mobs cc'd, but you'd have to keep that macro/keybinding on roundrobin in keyclone.
