Hey guys. im a newb at multiboxing, been reading through thread after thread and cant find anything on Melees and if thier viable or not for PvP multiboxing.

So far, from other posts, the problem i see is with the range factor. I.E the auto follow doesnt let you follow directly on top of the other toon so one is always out of range and you have to run through mob/player and turn around just so other player can hit.

what i want to do is multibox two melees and want to know if there is ANY way to fix this problem. if its not possible to do it on one computer booting up to boxes of wow. is it possible on two different computers and monitors each running 1 version of wow, each only playing one toon and both comps bound to one keyboard? will that allow my melee classes to move at exactly the same pace?

i remember watching an arena vid a while back of Xzin. all his mages and 1 priest were moving at exactly the same pace basically on top of each other. that is pretty much what i am trying to achieve with melee's but with no luck.

Please, if there is ANY possible way, if any of you veterans or anyone with a few creative idea's can lend me a hand i would greatly appreciate it!

boxing melee is always going to be difficult the way it is currently done (follow commands etc) as one will always be behind the other, and as you rightly said it will require you to move through a mob with you main character.. there is no way around that unless you have a forward movement key only for your clones and use it just when ur main gets in range for that last step or two..

using 2 PCs and trying to use the same mouse and keyboard to move them the same way wont work.. as soon as one of your toons get's CCd or whatnot your whole setup falls appart as you will have no way of allinging their direction or position quickly..

What you can do however :) If you insist on boxing Melees is to choose something to make sure your clones always stick with you.. options for this are..

Warrior
Pros:
Imp intercept and charge means your clones will also be in melee distance when you attack (better in Pve) (with imp intercept oyu have an autorange and assemble ability every 20 seconds)
Hamstring - means keeping your main slightly infront will allow your clones to be right on the target..
Fear resistance- lots of antifear is speced right
Use Intervene on a regular basis to regroup quickly

Cons:
harder to control in PvP as after the initial stun of your Intercept/charge wears off ur clones will again be behind the main..
no healing

Rogue:
Pros:
Stealth for imba ambushes (combine Cheapshot for stun, Garrote to prevent blink, and ambush for damage)
Vanish for out of combat regrouping
Crippling poisons for the slow..
anti CC for mobility
Spec subelty for shadowstep.. best for multiboxing melee as you can make sure that way that all your clones are in the same spot

Cons: once cooldowns are blown you will be at the mercy of your opponents unless you are able to get close to them

Shaman:

Pros.. good burst, Slowing effect.. Instant Ghost wolf for regrouping and in combat movement
Healing
anti fear and spell totems..
Wear shields when melee is upon you

Cons: very vunerable to CC
you have no sure fire way to gain ground on someone

Druids:
Pros:
Great mobility
Stealth
Feral charge
switch from tank to dps and vice versa
healing
some CC

Cons: to many abilities to use effectively..

think of it like this.. to be effective you rly should bind cat bear and caster form to particular keys for the entire group aswell as individual ones so that in the case of one of ur clones being attacked you can bearform him and heal with the others.. ALOT of micromanagement

Pally:

Pros:
Good hp pool and plate help alot
Healing
anti CC and dispels
imba burst and i mean imba as ret
a few stuns
15% extra movement speed as ret (if talanted)

cons:
no sure fire way of gaining groud on someone however you will get there eventually :)

Overall melee is not done much simply because it's alot harder and alot less viable, I personally will be trying this at some point :) simply for the challenge :) and once my shammies are lvl 70 I'll give it a go with them :P
the main challange on this is then still to come :) your main priority will always be to keep your target between you and ur clones.. anything in that range will die.. trick is getting it to that point

The main problem with the melee is that there is no way to get your following toon to reliably face the target you want them hitting. Think about when you have someone on follow and you hit the "S" button to back up. The following toon turns around and is facing you. PvP is a constantly moving situation so there's no way that you could have an extended fight. You basically need to just hope you can one shot everyone you come up against because as soon as they move you're screwed.

I messed around with it on my 70 feral druid and 70 warrior a while back in a few AVs because I wanted some welfare epics but didn't want to shell out for a respec on my druid since I tanked with him. I eventually respeced my druid to resto and had him as a pocket healer. It was a huge pain in the ass dealing with two melee classes.

Hmmm. sounds like its going to be difficult. i'd have to say rogue would be the class though. simply for the stun lock at least. if you key your char right, and trade of stun locks with say two or three rogues, the target wouldnt be moving for a good deal of time so that might help with the movement thing, tho it isnt exactly going to leave alot of room for error.

i guess if you had five, you'd have the master char do the stun lock and the slaves just full dps. whatever you were hitting would die. fast. and with crippling poison they're not likely to go anywhere any time soon. though 5 is probably overkill lol. and i couldnt see this set up working in an arena situation. definately not a 5v5, to many variables. but say you did three rogues, and made sure you picked single targets in bg,whatever you targeted wouldnt survive the stun lock.

or four rogues one druid? but then one rogue one druid would be immensely easier. basic healbot. sigh

Perhaps its just not viable at this stage. still, i shall get them to 70 hopefully someone alot more adept at this then me will figure it all out and let us know how its done! :P

Thank for the replies guys, much appreciated. i shall post my expereince if i have any luck!

P.S does anyone know how Xzin make his toons move on top of each other or was it lag in the vid or somethig? it looked, basically, like one person moving but there were five chars in exactly the same spot. Xzin HELP! :)
