So I recently upgraded my CPU and Motherboard, plus RAM.

I am running a E4600 @ 2.40GHz, Core 2 Duo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115032)
3 Gigs of DDR2 RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231144)
an S series Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128084)
I have the same video card as I had before, a nvidia 6800gt 512mb
on win XP.

I have been having performance issues ever since I got the new mobo/cpu/ram. I used to have to preformance issues with my old comp (AMD socket 939 mobo, with athalon 64 4000+ 2.4ghz cpu). I played up to 5 WoWs without too much trouble, and I ran Call of Duty 4 on medium without any noticable lag, and decent frames. Recently though, with this new setup, I have been getting this wierd jerky play when I play CoD4 on multi player, and I have to put my settings to a minimum for single player so it doesn't jerk. Also, with WoW, I can run 2 games either on max settings (1650x1050 and all other settings max, with my crazy UI) 2 games, fully maximized, no problem. But if I start a 3rd game, even if it's a low settings game (everything off, 800x600) it slows my computer way down and won't show the screen on the 3rd WoW, it's either black, or just won't load at all, and I have to minimize another WoW, so that the one I just maximized, will display. It's almost like there is a certain amount of WoW screen real estate it will show, and once I go over it, it takes a nose dive. Also, if I have 2 max settings WoWs running, both maximized, and I try and start a 3rd WoW, it says "WoW could not start the 3D excelleration blah blah, make sure your shizz is up to date." and it is...

What could it be that's causing the problems? Hardware? Software? Maybe I am wrong and my drivers aren't up to date? I don't get it.

Did you try re-installing the video card drivers? Did you install the motherboard drivers that came with it?

ya I reinstalled the mobo driver and the nvidia drivers. also I just checked and I have the newest version of directX says their little program.

The Harddrive is the only 1 from my old computer, so it had most all drivers and stuff installed on it still from when it had the AMD stuff. Maybe the left over stuff is messing with it? I mean I've reinstalled it all, but maybe I should try and uninstall them first or sumthing?

I really don't want to reinstall windows, lol.

Are you running keyclone? Do you have it set up to set the processor affinity for the instances of WoW? You should be running 2 WoW's on Core0 and 3 on Core1.

haha no, I didn't do anything to keyclone, i'll go do that now.

though that still doesn't explain CoD4. Maybe it's a similar issue.

I'll mess with keyclone right now, and edit in my results in a second.

Yeah, that doesn't explain CoD4, but all your WoWs were on the same core :) I don't know how to manipulate processor affinity outside of keyclone, but you should look into running your 1 instance games like CoD4 off of Core1 because your OS/start up programs/etc are running on Core0

do I need to be seeting the affinity in the WoW config files, or for keyclone?

I heard somewhere that in 2.3 WoW handles the multiple cores fine now. Sorry, can't find where to set the affinities for keyclone.

In keyclone, its in the command editor. Not sure about the new WoW feature that you describe

na, still the same crap.

1 of the first, 1 on the other, start up a 3rd, and it's like newp, can't start 3d accelerator.

Shutdown, pull out your Graphics Card, put it back in. Sometimes reseating it can fix things. Other than that, I have no idea.

Yeah, if all else fails... nuke and reinstall. I always hate doing that too.
