So, I've seen videos of some of you pulling huge packs with the Eye of Kilrogg with mixed teams (I'm running 2xmage lock priest warr all at level 31).
Im so far from being able to take the full amount of DPS, i seem to lose aggro and my warlock gets roflpwnd long before the pack is dead, which is brutal for the total dps of the group. I cant wait any longer to use him as the priest eventually runs OOM, which restricts the amount of demo shout threat i can generate. Some people appear to be doing this seemlessly, reliably. for me, I complete 1 in every 3 decent pulls with no deaths at most.
my pattern is as follows:
1 - Kilrog bubble pull
2 - bubble warrior + apply renew
3 - grab threat with the warrior and round the pack infront of mages
4 - outheal the incoming dps
5 - when i believe i have enough aggro, or the priest is running low on mana, i bubble the warlock and CoC from the mages, then AOE from all (priest also fades at the same time).
6 - warlock dies reliably and i struggle with the last of the group sometimes wiping fully.... rip.

I'm getting to the end of my tether atm and considering just leveling the priest/warrior as a duo.

Help?

edit: I'm trying in RFK and have tried SMGY and struggle to break 8kexp/hr(LOLOLOL :'[)

Keep in mind the big pull clips being posted are filmed after the mobs are green and the dungeon has already been cleared a few times for the blue mail pieces, shield, etc. If you're just starting out in SM and the mobs are still yellow to you you'll need to take it slower.

The pull order is pretty simple. Position your team around a corner to LoS ranged mobs. Fiery shield on warrior, PW:S the eye, agro as many mobs as you think you can handle. When the eye dies, bloodrage and battle shout so the mobs run to your warrior. Then just spam demo shout and AE once the mobs arrive.

You can do the math to see how many shouts you need per arcane explosion. At 30 your arcane explosion deals 110 base damage. 110 -40% threat from talents is around 66 threat per GCD. You generate around 31 threat per GCD with demo shout rank 3 (assuming defensive stance with 5/5 defiance.) With fiery shield you probably want to cast at least 3 demo shouts before you start spamming on your mages. Use greater heal, not flash heal, heal your tank to conserve mana. Greater heal with talents is much more efficient.

Your priest should be spec'd like this (https://classic.wowhead.com/talent-calc/priest/4-2050500303) and working towards 3/3 meditation.
Your warrior should be spec'd like this (https://classic.wowhead.com/talent-calc/warrior/03--502501105) and working towards imp. demo shout and piercing howl.

Also, you get a new rank of demo shout at 32 which should increase your TPS.

This is pretty much how im doing it atm, although keeping the healer back a fair way to avoid the various CC.

Its not the mages that take aggro, its the warlock with Hellfire. or suicide fire as it should be called. It would appear a PW:S on the lock helps to mitigate quite some damage from the spell itself, meaning by the time he pulls aggro, there is still enough of a buffer for the priest to keep him topped up for a few seconds with Flash Heal.

I'll probably have to respec the priest in that case, my warrior spec is very similar.

yeah, Ive seen this and im looking forward to it, it has to be said!

Thanks for all the advice. I'll concentrate a little less on the big pulls and just try to grind a bit more gear for the warrior to mitigate some more damage.

I struggled as well, like you mention, particularly on the early 30s. Gear helps a lot on this, as do a few more levels and ranks on healing spells. I started going deep Disc and it was awful, as soon as I went deep Holy for the +healing from Spirit it was night and day.

I tried Hellfire at 30 and decided my team was not ready for it. Switched back to Rain of Fire macro and it went smooth again until I got to 32. Truth is you are on a bad level range to fast level, so take your time clearing GY to farm the offhand for your 4 casters and start doing bigger pulls at 34. Once you can reliably clear Library, farm that for the dagger. Having a little bit of +healing made a really good difference for me.

Do not worry about XP/HR before you have mastered safety and reliability. A good geared warrior can hold mobs much longer before the aoe starts, which means your party dont take melee damage, drastically improving your pace.

Yeah, perhaps I've not put enough emphasis on gaining a decent amount of gear, and just going straight in for the exp. I'll push for more gear, and like you say maybe go for rain of fire rather than hellfire. Or perhaps put the hellfire on a 5sec delay or so.

Actually, you just need to utilize petattack macro for each void, and you can clear packs in 20 secs or so, 2,3 packs before you require drinking. Deep Demo is way to go, you don't even need corr at hellfire (when you get it9+prayer of healing ). What i did, curse of eleemtns plus curse of reck to stop fleeing, and 2 agonys for extra ticks. Most groups are between 3-5. I think I've seen only 1 o 2 grups in gmae that have 6 trash mobs grouped.

Send pets, apply curses, wait 4-7 sec (your favourite) and start hellfire, you don't even need to preshield or anything. I stopped using Imp for stamina, and just used the voids so each can hold agrro for specific mobs. Atm, I am getting roughly 50*--60k xp in brd, with crap gear and no optimization. If i Wanted to try hard truly, I'd go this specc:

https://classic.wowhead.com/talent-calc/warlock/-0350300152101-055000512202215

But once you master the pets and rotation, things are super duper easy.

This makes sense for a 4 Lock team, but it is not the team OP is playing (which is exactly like mine).
For my lock I went deep destro, can't really say it is optimized but it works for me thus far

You could go demo/destro for 70% pushback resistance and 20% threat reduction as well as improved imp buffs by 39. Then go destro for ruin. Pretty close to the standard DS/Ruin raid spec with a few tweaks.
