If your goal was 60 super fast (I realise all the records are done solo but obviously this being a multiboxing forum) I wonder what the best approach is with XP bonus and dividing considered for parties. How much will a 2 man or 3 man slow you down ultimately do you think? What about a 5 man?

How much will a 2 man or 3 man slow you down ultimately do you think? What about a 5 man?If you have fully working addons which facilitate multiboxing and auto-accept/turn-in of quests I don't see multiboxing slowing you down much as any slows would be somewhat offset by faster kills.

I think the idea scenario would be same race, ideally same class, groups that have fast movement and some self healing... Hunters are great as they have fast movement via "aspect of the cheater" and with their pets they are basically their own "Trinity" being their own mini tank, healer, & DPS... Druids are also great as their cat form can get fast movement (in addition to their actual travel form) and their healing resource (mana) can regen while leveraging a different resource (energy) for killing which lessens needs to drink between fights (even when healing yourself). Shaman also have fast movement and self-healing but the same resource is used for damage/healing/fast-form so drinking may be more of a thing...

Having multiple characters should speed up kills and add minimal overhead to quests (with the right addons) and if the exact same race/class they would all have the same quests (& could maybe leverage broadcasting at times as well)...

It really depends on your group size. I 5-man MB'd in TBC and WOTLK and the biggest issue with questing, especially in Vanilla, are the loot quests where you need to kill a mob then get a quest drop. The game wasn't really balanced around providing these drops in an efficient manner. They usually have a low drop chance and very few NPC spawns, so what was tedious solo leveling becomes absolutely awful when you need 5x the quest drops.

Now, I used Joanna's guide back then. But I modified it for MB leveling. I would skip all the loot quests and just substitute grinding mobs.

Now you need to factor in leveling during the server start. You will be fighting over a lot of spawns, especially at the beginning.

Here's my plan for 5-man leveling

1. Quest to 15 as much as I can....Only Kill Quests...I'm not picking up 50 Scropid Tails:(
2. Chain Dungeons together
3. Pick up Dungeon Quests and only do chains with good rewards (like Leader of the Fang)
4. Supplement with Grinding Cloth Drop Mobs https://www.warcrafttavern.com/guides/wow-classic-cloth-farming-guide/
5. 50+ depends on how well my comp is running dungeons.

Cloth is super important because we need bags for 5 characters plus first aid. Running dungeons means I don't need 5 mounts right away. It lowers my chances of being ganked, which I expect people will target MBers. It also makes sure I am well geared throughout leveling.
