Sorry if this information is easy to find, but I did a search and tried looking around.

My first 5 boxing I ever did with KeyClone was back in Burning Crusade - I then leveled a 5 shaman team (5x elemental) in instances from 15ish to 40 - And that worked out ok. At around that level I swapped in a maxed paladin tank (1 prot + 4 elemental) to make it faster.

Question:
Is 5 shaman doable in classic setup, or did TBC add something that fixed that?
Past 40, is it still doable to just push through with 5 shaman?

In summary, if my memory is correct, the majority of respondents thought it was doable though it sounds like it may only be doable on much content after you out gear &/or are on the higher level range for the content in question.

I 5 boxed many shaman in dungeons in BC and it was doable though more susceptable to wipes than using a real tank class and that was even after improvements to the Shaman class including the addition of Earth Shield. Even though I could do it I felt it was better and significantly more stable to bring a proper tank and I tried both Druid Tanks and Paladin Tanks and found Paladin Tanks better/more stable for me in runs.

My thoughts were that I would mitigate risk by adding in a class that could go Tank mode if you needed but could also go ranged mode and allow an "all turret" option for WPVP and the only class I could see doing that is Druid so I would go Druid + 4 Shaman. In WPVP you would equip the Druid's caster gear set and play it like the Shaman. You would level using the druid as a Tank in instances and at least initially for grinding at cap until your shamans are geared enough to be able to try swapping the druid to caster gear for dungeon completions. For all of that to work you would use a single flexible 'Heart of the Wild' based Druid spec... Once you were fully confident you don't need Bear form any more to complete any content you want to farm you could switch to a more specified caster spec that included Moonkin to increase the druid's caster damage & to boost the Shaman further.

5 shamans with shields will be far more capable of tanking than people seem to think. Private server damage is overtuned by over 50%. You will see a 60% damage reduction compared to any recent 'vanilla' content and there is only limited video footage available from 2004-2006 sadly.

5 shaman dungeon running is doable. It will be difficult though so be prepared for a learning curve to start. Also, you'll want any item piece that reduces enemy nature resistance as most mobs have nature resist.

The weakest part of a Shaman was they had no good threat builders to tank. Back in vanilla I tanked every 60 dungeon just fine, as long as I didn't lose aggro. So each one is strong enough to take a beating and survive. Stacking certain totems and endless chain heals, you're fine.

Hardest part, imho is going to be able to gear them properly. I think as long as you have enough macros to cover each char (so it doesn't really matter who takes aggro) you should be just fine.
