Thanks for the post/link.

Maybe it's just the more vocal players, but jeez louise reading those comments makes WoW players sound like a bunch of sniffling, whiny, know-it-alls. And people wonder why I want to box.

Who's playing US on Hord? I'll be looking to join a Multibox guild, so I'm flexible on realm type.

Probably gonna try Pagle or Mankrik, though I dunno. I'm predicting that this won't be enough servers to meet the demand and they'll add more. I was gonna say I might just pick whichever server isn't showing "FULL" or "HIGH" in the population column but I suspect they will all be full/high. I'll be happily surprised if that isn't the case.

I would prefer a normal server on Pacific time. But would join any server to be with other boxers.

Other than the obvious time difference on the server itself when using the /time command, the main difference between the two timezones will likely be:

Pacific will be hosted in the Los Angeles datacenter.
Eastern will be hosted in the Chicago datacenter.

While that's not necessarily true for the current Retail server list due to the repeated consolidation of datacenters over the years, I would bet money that they're keeping it simple for Classic. So, if latency matters to you, then choose accordingly, but I guess we won't know for 100% until the servers are actually up for early name reservations.

For example Raids starting at 5:30pm PST (7:30 Central or 8:30 Eastern) or 6pm PST would likely be able to accommodate the largest cross section of Americas players.

choices choices

Fairbanks PvP Pacific
Whitemane PvP Pacific
Grobbulus RP-PvP Pacific

it's one of these 3 for me - or I should say, 2 of these 3, 1 for allies and 1 for hordes
wondering if RP-PvP is ok for mboxing (family of 5, quintuplets, group of friends... backstory)
I suspect the RP-PvP will be very Ally biased... not sure what to roll to make it interesting there (go with the flow, alliance, or have lots of alliances to kill/farm and go horde on that server?)

Are you also planning on a Horde group and if so what?

You point about having lots of the opposing faction to farm is something also mentioned in this video:

I am haven't found anything that really gives any insights into the choices available.

yes ally (which I will start with) will be that for the first group. Horde side will be 1 Warrior, 3 Shamans, 1 Mage though I am less set on that team

I'm a bit worried about big imbalance on that RP-PVP so I guess maybe I'll stick to Fairbanks and Whitemane and just have to decide which faction on which

ps: hypothetically, if you have 8 accounts under 1 bnet, can you have 4 hordes and 4 allies on the same server ?

I just tested my 2 subscriptions on the same BattleNet account and on the PVP server Stalagg I was able to do an alliance character on one and a horde character on the other so yes I would think you could. With 8 accounts you could also likely do a 5man on one faction and a 3 man team on the other.

It may actually be fun to be outnumbered overall (especially if many of them are mainly RPers) so with that in mind I may create a horde group on the RP-PVP server just to try it. If you did 4 Shaman and a Druid you could pull a 5 man dungeon team with the Druid tanking and then maybe convert the druid to ranged dps for world PVP. A bunch of focused Chain Lightnings could be fun.

I reserved key names on 3 PVP servers (Herod, Faerlina, & Grobbulus).

I will likely initially do an Alliance 5man on 1 server and later do a Horde 5man on another though my main Raiding character will be a Paladin (so Alliance).

At this point I am leaning toward Herod for my Paladin & thus my first Alliance 5man team.

I'm settling, got some/most of my names (btw I should have just rushed for the names instead of actually creating the right looking toons and right faction, class, race, I would have had more success) on Whitemane Alliance for starting

I'd love to have at least another mboxer on that server and faction to create each other's guild or even create 1 common guild there.

I'm tempted to change my 5 boxing plan to 2 4boxing or maybe 2 5 boxing (maybe with that new RAF?) but I think 1 team will be super slow enough

I'm settling, got some/most of my names (btw I should have just rushed for the names instead of actually creating the right looking toons and right faction, class, race, I would have had more success) ... Yeah we discussed approaches on name reservations in the Herod Horde discord prior and during the servers getting unlocked. Herod was the only really "High" server so it was kinda hectic with large queues and lots of DCs.

I am pretty stoked as I got both of my brother's exact Vanilla main character names and got my 2nd choice for myself and I did that on all 3 servers so I feel pretty lucky.

I pretty much just did a quick race/sex/class combo and only made quick changes on the looks if they were absolutely terribad.

I got 1 client in quickly but my other 4 clients were having issues so I reserved our top 3 names on that single client as fast as I could. On my main I did make sure I had the right race/sex/class and did a minor look tweek but on the other 2 names I didn't worry about the race/sex/class/looks at all.

When my 2nd client got in I used it to reserve the remaining 2 names for my 5 man group the same way while waiting for the other 3 clients.

Once the remaining 3 clients finally started getting in I created the next characters and took my time getting the looks more perfect. Once ready I then used the name spelling I already had reserved to make sure I got a 'name already taken' message and then I deleted the character off my initial 2 accounts and immediately took it on my 3-5 accounts.

Not sure if the above verbiage really lays it out clearly but you could later use the above approach to create new characters with the exact looks you want and then delete the original and then get the same name. It isn't 100% guaranteed as someone could steal your name in the seconds between you deleting and then retaking but I did that multiple times today multiple servers (including Herod) even during the peak of the activity with no issues. If you want to try to do that between now and when the servers allow actual login and need help let me know.

... (maybe with that new RAF?) ... Any details on the new RAF?

Will the new RAF work with Classic WoW?

there aren't much concrete details so far, there is a thread here (https://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/55870-Party-Sync-on-8-2-5-PTR)
but no it's not for classic, it's for bfa but it's mostly an excuse to get more accounts and maybe some retail rewards from it

Curious if it will be retroactive to accounts activated in the last 30 days as I recently had to activate mine for today.

Anyone able to confirm physical server locations for the realms. Do they correspond to the time zone?
