28 days to go :-) ....

As someone who uses HotKeyNet for retail, and only got multiboxing to work by the skin on my teeth, what do I need to do for classic? Does anybody know yet?

Do I just make a new script, and replace the retail Wow file name n location for classic wow.

Will I be able to open multiple accounts under the same email still? Or does it work differently?

A starter guide or post in the upcoming weeks will be helpful to get us started.

If your setup works in retail, it will work for 95% of classic. The only differences I noticed were GCD and macro specific. Those aren't particular to any multiboxing software/hardware. And, like retail, macros and addons that work for solo players will work for multiboxers with the proviso that you will need to tweak things for optimization within your particular group setup. Like we always do. We aren't reinventing the wheel, here.

Forgive me bc I'm slow... Your saying even though I haven't layed a finger on classic yet, I haven't done the beta or the stress test, that I can just log on to my 5 accounts on Classic launch day, and everything will work??

I assume path will be: World of Warcraft/_classic_/Wow.exe instead of World of Warcraft/_retail_/Wow.exe
Although I am not sure, but I think beta/stress test was in a path similar to that so feels like they would put classic there.

In some expansion wow added a hidden window that messed up early HKN scripts, I think it will have the hidden window in classic so old scripts might mess up with launching and renaming, but I think that was added in cataclysm.

Some have said it works to use 1 classic client for each active wow account on your battlenet account, so that should work fine. I assume the login page will work exactly the same as retail, but I haven't tried beta or stress test.

At the 13th they will start the login servers so we can make characters but not play, so then we can make sure we can properly launch it. Plenty of time to fix any issues, if there is any, before classic properly launch.

Ingame it should work fine, but ofcourse you have to rewrite your script to properly handle your new classic team (maybe add new round robin buttons, change hotkeys etc).

My experience in multiboxing the stress test is that if you can create a team and play in retail, you will be able to create a team in classic. Also, "95%" is not quite "everything will work," n'est-ce pas? As I said, the multiboxing software has very little bearing on whether your setup will work. We will all need to figure out how to craft new macros and keys that properly work under the classic talents, GCD, and syntax changes. Yes, classic will work exactly like retail with regards to accounts, it is just a different selection of the game type (with the wow.exe located under _classic_ rather than _retail_ as xandorz mentioned). It might work the same as 8.2 once the client gets its "live" final updates but nobody yet knows exactly...hopefully we'll see that in the final stress test*.

So, for simple setups like "I only use the number keys and some movement keys, with the usual /follow and /assist and EMA/Jamba stuff" then yes, it is likely that your setup will almost 100% work with very little modification, which nobody will be able to answer anymore since the closed beta is now over*. For advanced setups like ISBoxer's Pro Config, things are going to get pretty interesting as we don't yet know how compatible the macro/script language will be between classic and live (though arguably it would be a self-defeating maintenance nightmare to make it much different).

* There is supposed to be another stress test prior to launch, so if you have two or more accounts, I would highly recommend making sure your setup is working with retail and then making a copy and trying it during the stress test to make sure it's at least not brain dead. That's what I did in the last one. It really did not need much modification from retail for the basics.

Thank you and yes my setup is very basic. It's HotKeyNet with pretty much every key bound without modifiers, and one button on my mouse that I have my 1 button GSE macro's on all my char's bound too. I'm concerned with getting everything logged in and working, bc I feel once I get past that step and in the game on all my toons it will be much easier.
