DynamicBoxer has graduated from alpha/beta now and I will use this thread to keep folks updated (you can also ask questions etc here as well)
Q: What does it do ?
A:
The core concept is to let you start isboxer/innerspace based on a layout (say 5 boxing with slot 2 healer and vfx in 1) once and then change which characters are actually in windows 1... N at will/whim.
It also works for brand new characters (making a new cool 5 Void Elf, team, just do it, no need to go back to windows)
Q: Why is that useful?
A:
Because you save time and only need a handful of core teams and "virtual"/role based characters in isboxer instead of dozens
Q: What else does it do ?
A:
A bunch of small utility things (and I can add more of you ask):
- It syncs up automatically your EMA team, in the order of the slots (no more "can't push settings" ever)
- It (optionally) auto invites your team
- It (optionally) auto converts to raid as needed, making for super fast 6+ team assembly
- Has extensive mouse over tooltips in the addon options and key bindings sections to let you discover the features

Q: How big/complicated is the setup?
A:
Turn on broadcasting and 3 keystrokes: Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, Enter
do that once, and you're done forever, even if you login 100 different teams!
Q: Does it work cross realm ?
A:
Yes since 1.6 and that makes it a big time saver if you need to visit a lot of realms.
In that setup I recommend you don't change the slot1 but change the other slot(s) and set the auto invite to say slot 2 so everyone phases to slot 2's realm (the changing realm)

Q: Is there anything that won't work with it but would work with pure isboxer team reload/change ?
A:
First if you log the original team in, you get the exact same functionality + fast auto invite, auto raid conversion if needed/enabled, auto EMA team sync etc... so it's only additive feature wise, you don't loose anything
But yes, if you have a pro setup and try to swap say a Tank for a Healer in the same slot, DynamicBoxer will still remap the macros but they will be your Tank-style actions and thus not likely to be as helpful to your newly slotted Healer; yet if you you just need a quick swap in/out to collect some item, do a quest or anything of that sort, it will still save time and be functional (assist, broadcast, follow etc...), just don't go and do a Mythic + 20 with that setup :-)

I've been using DynamicBoxer for several weeks.
This addon has changed the way I play WOW. Before the addon, I couldn't easily change one slot to another toon. I could do it, but follow wouldn't work, assist, etc. unless I change ISBoxer config.
The addon makes changing team members or doing cross realm teams extremely easy.
All setup is done in wow and most of it is automatic: you don't have to do anything.
With DynamicBoxer, I don't have to change ISBoxer config just to play with different toons.
To group up with a completely different team, I just log out and back into the correct toons.
To change one toon, I log off one toon and back into the correct one.
When things don't go the way they should, it is a simple command with copy, paste, enter and things are back to working.
I play with 5 man teams. Doing Islands meant I either did one toon twice or just didn't run it with 2 of the toons. Now I can cycle through different toons on different teams.
I would encourage multiboxers who use ISBoxer to give this a try. You only need to setup one Character Set in ISBoxer instead of one per team.

I'm going to address this here really quick.
We're happy to have people working on new and useful stuff for ISBoxer, and we're happy that some of you like those things. That's all well and good. However, there's a major issue with the timing here, and this has already been discussed with Moorea. Frankly, we could have used this kind of effort for ISB1 like 5 years ago, but at this point the "let's add new WoW-specific things to officially support in ISBoxer 1" ship has already set sail.
All new ISBoxer development efforts (beyond maintenance items) are focusing on ISBoxer 2, which at this point is almost ready for an open beta -- the next wave of Alpha testers may be the last before beta. ISBoxer 2's Module system is designed to allow developers like Moorea to build things like Dynamic Boxer into ISBoxer 2. I fully understand that some of you will continue using ISBoxer 1 for at least some time after ISBoxer 2 is available, and of course you're welcome to stick with it as long as you like.
So, while I do not want to discourage Moorea from developing and sharing Dynamic Boxer, nor discourage any of you from using and enjoying it, it is not something we expect to promote or officially support in ISBoxer 1.
Also, to get what most of you said you like from Dynamic Boxer, you can just switch the Follow/Assist Mode option to not use the WoW Macro method. You don't have to fill in character names in ISBoxer at all, you can type in "wow 1" "wow 2" "wow 3" and so on. Set up the "Target Slot" follow/assist method, party up and switch in whatever characters you want. This is how people set up ISBoxer for every other game, and you can do it with WoW!

Sorry, I was only covering "what most of you said you like from Dynamic Boxer". Like, in this thread. Playing 5 toons, logging in to different teams without creating any characters first, etc -- no macros required at all for that.

Yep, if hitting the follow key does something other than follow, you've probably missed something.

How it knows depends on which Follow/Assist Mode you select. They are actually fairly simple. The mode I mentioned above would press one of the Party Targeting Hotkeys (F2 F3 F4 F5), followed by "Follow Target" or "Assist Target".
If you've not grouped up, then Party Targeting is not going to target anyone, and will say you need a target (etc).

This particular conversation does not belong in this thread.
ISBoxer 2 Modules can literally program parts of the ISBoxer 2 Launcher -- using Lua -- and place things into the WoW Addon as it is being generated. If you want "a full lua struct" of something -- I assume you want a Lua table populated with some data (unspecified parts "of the pro setup") in the generated WoW Addon -- your Module can access the data via ISBoxer 2's API, and produce the table you want in the WoW Addon.
But you're probably going to need to think about this "full lua struct of the pro setup" thing differently.

/e I had missed the previous reply as I got distracted with other things. Thought I'd leave the below here anyway, as it may provide something useful.
not counting that you get the "Character in wrong window" dialog This is easily fixed by not using the ISBoxer Addon, because the follow/assist method no longer requires it. Of course, if you are using the Game Helpers and WoW Macro support for other things (like other WoW macros using other ISBoxer features - because otherwise you could just create them in game), then it all becomes a bit tedious to use a different Follow/Assist method, and yes, you would probably stick with the ISBoxer Addon, and thus the ISBoxer follow/assist macros. As has been explained before, if that is the case, then there are alternative methods that do not require DynamicBoxer to make it all work for team switching, but then again DynamicBoxer does provide additional flexibility that those other methods may not. It also does provide some restrictions in certain configurations used in ISBoxer, and as discussed previously, the effort in trying to rejig ISBoxer1 to get that to all work nicely is not happening as effort is currently focused elsewhere on a replacement for ISBoxer1.
you can't invite your team automaticallyYou can, you just have to configure a setup that works for your game, much like all the other poor cousins who aren't playing WoW. One is not provided because they can be a bit game specific (although interestingly, most would probably work with a fairly generic poke something into chat method). WoW is quite special and accommodating to multiboxing in many ways that a lot of people don't realise, this one particular thing is one of those things, and yes, it is quite nice, even if you don't have to do it a lot of the time.
and countless features you get with a full wow macro that standard isboxer gives you (and dynamicboxer rewrites to match the actual team) etc... Yes, WoW has a relatively open interface to do much stuff. You are a bunch of lucky bastards (in the nicest possible way :D ).

Chances are, you don't have a target. Now this does depend a lot on what other Follow/Assist method you chose, but if you chose the "Target Slot, Follow/Assist Target" method, then If you scan through the mapped keys in the chain, the first step of the Target Slot, Follow Target mapped key, runs a Variable Keystroke, which on each slot of the character set is mapped to the F1 to F5 keys (assuming a 5 man team). In game, these are usually bound to the Target Party Member 1..5 options, but tend to get unbound by those lucky enough to not need them.

Thanks for the input. Now let's please indeed keep this thread for users that have tried or are willing to try DynamicBoxer to improve their boxing experience in an additive way with Isboxer42 or ask any question about DynamicBoxer.
edit/ps: v1.9.8 had a silly lua error because I moved some code around for the UI/to make escape silence further token exchange prompts but created a path with error, sorry about that, fixed now in v1.9.9 ! (and thx DarkNight for the report!)

2.2.2 is out with pixel perfect borders and right alignment of realm names in the cosmetic department and some bug fixes all around, as well as the DynBoxer.teamCompleteCallBack optional call back to sync more stuff than just EMA. Indetify screen working with classic etc etc... (see the changelog or github release notes for all the gory details)

So I noticed after I got excited that I got the code to work and posted that indeed it doesn't have the isboxer buttons internal bindings, I have to research how those are set actually as they don't show up when just enumerating keybinds (custom addon bindings do show as you can see EMA and DynamicBoxer's...)
As far as the ISboxer/innerspace bindings (ie not what the game binds but what innerspace sees and changes before it gets to the game), I don't know, that's probably an isboxer faq (I remember I asked but that was years ago so maybe it changed)

any reason why 5 differnet rogues are on 5 differnet servers?
btw ive been told my a friend to get this downloaded its a life saver for ppl with no techsavy brains (like me)

This screenshot/team is one I use to test cross realm functionality (and having same name(s) and realms with quotes and spaces and long realms, and making sure it's not getting confused by that), but DynamicBoxer works for single realm fine (and classic) too.
edit/ps: it's not 5 rogues, the color isn't class in this simple status window it's just the name when synced

Exciting (I think) new feature in 2.05: Multi group (2x4, 3x5...) support:
with the option to limit invite to a set max party size. eg. 4 so a 8box can be 2x4; if you have 12 and set max to 4 you will have 3 groups of 4 (1-4, 5-8, 9-12) automatically at login,
Configure with /dbox c or /dbox partymax N (make sure to broadcast)
If you are 15 boxing and unset autoRaid, you'll end up with 3 parties of 5, etc...
(works for any party size 2 to 5)

v2.05.03 (and -classic) is out with a bug fix for the case one may have more than 1 FTLAssist per character in ISboxer generated code (which can happen if you select the QuickStart macros both for your team and your character) - many thanks to Zuui and Altbob for tracking that down

Per user request, new feature to keep your party in the same order as your slot/windows:
v2.06.02 Adds the option to delay a bit the accept of auto invite in order to have team in slot order.
(you need to set the option on all the windows, not just the lead, also disable auto accept
in other addons like EMA to use this feature; lastly it may not work at login time, if so,
middle click to disband and left click to reinvite, in order)

I have just tried out your Addon and I like what i see... i tried with 8 toons and set Party size to four and and hoped for the best - but only one group of four is created on toon1 - no invites send from toon5 - what did i miss? thanks in advance.

Because there is no "push settings" (yet) in DynamicBoxer you need to make sure you broadcast the setting on all windows (or most importantly that toon 5 and toon 1 have the same setting in this case)
Easiest is to broadcast "/dbox partymax 4"
if you don't want to broadcast the clicks into the config window

I am almost sure I did that change manually and Toon5 tried to invite toon1-4 and stopped inviting before inviting 6-8...
I will recheck tomorrow maybe there was a mistake on my end.

Having issues with this. One character in my group, without fail, will not respond to the correct ATGs. For example, 4 hunters, put in an ATG called "Hunters", and one of them simply will not respond to those ATG commands. Instead, it's responding to a random ATG that it isn't in.

it depends what you launch, right? if you have a generic team with say 3 dps 1 heal and 1 tanking ATG then it should work fine as long as whatever you login the slots matches the group (ie don't try to swap a healer for a dps; for that I guess you need to have another 'generic (yet) pro' that matches your setup; ie maybe 4 dps + 1 heal or some such
if you can repro a case where you launch a pure isboxer team and it doesn't work the same when adding dynamicboxer I'd like to know more
(I can show you how to turn on debug to log the macro substitutions for instance)

Ahh ok, I think that's what the issue was.
I was on a Mage Pali Mage Mage Mage team, then switched to a Hunter Hunter Pali, H , H team.
Gotcha. Healer went from slot 2 to slot 3.

yeah you need to keep similar slots in similar spots (which usually you need to do anyway for vfx, at least for me my healer is always slot 2; even if I change the account sometimes

Is there any way to get around this, besides having every healer on the same account? Like is there a trick to hotswap isboxer slots on the fly with an export for teams where the healers are in different slots? So you don't need to shut all your accounts down and relaunch a different set?

today you can logout and click back to change the bnet sub account to end up in the right slot? (without a full reload or changes to accounts that are already in the right spot)
this being said, vfx non withstanding, in theory I could add some feature to swap slots (right now I map actual logged in character to it's current slot# but I suppose it could also swap some slots... the problem I guess would be how to configure that / UI wise)
maybe 2 tables and you drag reorder the slots?

Is there any way to get around this, besides having every healer on the same account? Like is there a trick to hotswap isboxer slots on the fly with an export for teams where the healers are in different slots? So you don't need to shut all your accounts down and relaunch a different set?

However, the issue you're experiencing ties directly into my criticism of the DynamicBoxer add-on (https://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/55659?p=419583&viewfull=1#post419583), and the description of the add-on itself makes it sound like it's solving an issue, with ISBoxer, that otherwise requires a good amount of effort to "fix," when it doesn't. My argument is that it's not a massive undertaking to either set up an additional Character Set or simply launch a second Character Set, with or without swapping some Characters around beforehand, when using ISBoxer.

I had heard this, and I couldn't make it work.
Just watched your video, saw you launch the new team via innerspace, tried it, worked like a charm. I had been launching via the isboxer program, and I wasn't working for me. Thanks for the tip and video link :)

The first version of DynamicBoxer classic that works again for 1.13.3 is out finally (sorry RL issues delayed it until now)
It's not perfect (some rough edges expected but seems to work with my initial testing, lmk if you find issue in the dbox thread or on discord or github/curse issues) but should unblock everyone.

Very big improvement and change for Classic, as I started 10 boxing I saw quite a number of failures because of regular whisper limitations and the size of the teams, so I added the following feature, using guild communication (if the characters are in same guild) makes things a LOT smoother:

- Classic: big change to use GUILD addon chat when possible; this makes 10+boxing work much better
as long as characters are in the guild.
- Classic: change timeout for secure messages to 3 minutes to accommodate 10 boxing delays in msging.

I made a pretty huge wow classic usability improvements starting in 2.11 (released on labor day)
DynamicBoxer can now sync using guild chat or say; so you will only need the token exchange copy/paste the very first use _or_ when making brand new characters/teams of different races (ie not starting in same zone so can't communicate with addon say)
Also /reload of slot1 which used to not work well works perfectly now

I just made a pretty big addition to dynamicboxer where the status frame is now clickable per slot and is like a micro unit frame, lmk what you think (v2.14+)

In addition to supporting MAMA to work without ISBoxer (new in v3) this version has a much easier initial / first time setup:
just login your slot 1 (/mama s 1) and /reload before starting wow2...N and the token will be picked up automatically in all the new ones
