Hello everyone,
I am thinking about returning to WoW and firing up a 5 box team. I have been doing some reading here about group compositions and it seems a bit overwhelming. I have done extensive boxing in Everquest, so ISBoxer setups don't scare me. What group composition do people recommend? Since it takes awhile to level and gear, I want to try and get the choice correct at the start.

Things to note:
1) I have no interest in boxing in PvP. Any PvP I will do will be solo queued.
2) I mainly want to do dungeons and doubtful I will also have time to raid in a guild.
3) In the past, I have played many different classes and can't say that there are any that I do not like.
4) I am open to any combinations.

I have seen that there are some people who like 5 x one class and others that run 4 x and 1 healer and others who run 1 tank, 3dps, and 1 healer. Any recommendations on what to start with for the long haul?

Thanks!

So far, in this expansion, the people who are pushing the highest keys in Mythic+ dungeons all seem to, currently, be using a mixed-class team with proper roles and ranged DPS.

Cool, any suggestions on a solid mixed group? Or perhaps a streamer that multiboxes to get some ideas from?

Thanks!

Serscruffington streams fairly consistantly and does both 5 man mythic+ runs as well as 10-box raiding on his own:

As far as comps...

If you're just looking for straight up performance, I think BM hunter is still the go-to DPS class since all of their DPS is doable on the move. Ranged in general have an easier time due to more free positioning.

Tanks I feel like give quite a few options and it's more or less down to preference. Most common ones would probably be Blood DK and Prot Paladin, although I don't see why you could not go for a Warrior, Brewmaster Monk or even a Bear Druid if you wanted to.

Healers I can't really comment on that much since I've only tried a few specs this expansion.

Thanks Wubsie! I watched serscruffington some today and picked his brain a bit. He convinced me that Hunters were indeed the way to go. I think I might go the Paladin route for the tank. Serscruffington runs a monk, but he had also not used any other healers. He is in the process of leveling a Shaman. Does anyone have any input on the healer?

I'm pretty sure I saw M+6 posts from 5 hunters (or was it 4 hunters 1 healer? but no tank I'm sure)

Not to lessen the achievements of others who are trying to push Mythics with same-class teams, but a +6 key does not qualify as "the highest keys" when you have mixed-class teams pushing +9/10/11. For multiboxers, there's a large ramp up in difficulty around those key levels, and an additional affix at level 10.

Blood DK / 3x BM hunter / Healer of choice is a very strong option. Druid is strong but I couldn't get the heals to land to my liking, Shaman is a solid spammable healer, Monk is what I have been using in the past for the 5% melee damage bonus, but I am leaning towards trying out a Priest and seeing where that goes.

Resto Shaman / 4x BM hunter is extremely potent, but due to not having a true tank - you are limited on some fight mechanics that require one for positioning.

DH tank / 4x Boomkin - this is one I always try to get to work this expansion, and really want to but end up shelving it after a week or two and going back to the previous 2 options. 8.2 just buffed DH tanking so it may be back on the table again.
Biggest weakness is low burst AoE and mobility. Otherwise it also works as a PvP viable group as well.

I thought Blood dk had heavy nerfs.. Warrior tank feels good atm though.

You may be right, raider io is showing them taking quite a bit of a dip in representation.
Warrior seems like it's definitely #1 right now, and has been since their buffs several months ago.

I've been getting super frustrated with my BDKx4 + Holy Pal group. Even lower Mythic+ boxer "friendly" dungeons give me all kinds of trouble. For example, I am really struggling with Coin Op Crowd Pummeler atm. Team is ilvl 385 and I can't reliably down it. It is to the point where I am planning to take a break for a while, it's bad for my nerves lol

I took a break for the same as I had no time with uni as well. Enjoying the islands at the moment with the dks and pally for mounts etc. Hunter team looks good, but need to level the 5th. If your tanks are all Draenai, there racial heal makes a big difference pro heal system. Youtube casting a heal all on a single chat. 5x gifts is a 100% on a char every 3 mins, or a quick save for each tank during oh crap mechanics,

Season 3 just started and everything got bumped up to be harder. Mythic 0 now drops ilvl 400. That coin grabber guy was always tough.

For season 3 they increased it quite a bit.

25% increase to mob health and damage (30% for m+0)
Additional 10% increase to mob health and damage for every mythic level, was 8% last season.

You just need better gear, wont take you long as Ellay mentioned all the drops are now 30 ilvl higher than last season.

I think that I've got low level Mythic MOTHERLODE figured out. Just did a reasonably clean run (wiped to trash once and a few other deaths here and there, but no boss wipes). My strategy, for those that are interested:

COCP

I set up along one wall, pull the mob to the wall. This way, the knockback is easily handled. Also, by positioning along one wall, the footbombs always appear one the side away from the wall, making them easier to kick at the boss. On the Shocking Claw ability, I run the group forward and spin them around to attack the back of the mob, then run them forward again back to the wall to set up again for footbombs and the knockback. I ignore the coin grab, as it doesn't seem to matter much early in the fight, and by the time the damage ramps up, the boss is almost dead anyway.

Azerokk

DK's are just chain following/attacking each earthrager while the healer runs around trying to stay out of the bad. Death and Decay snare effect is very helpful with this. Once the Earthragers are dead, it is simple tank and spank. When Azerokk summons more earthragers, just rinse-repeat. Pretty simple at low level Mythic+.

Rixxa Fluxflame

DK's run to her and tank in place, move them out of the goo that shoots out on occasion. Otherwise, they pretty much stay in place. Rixxa aims most of her other abilities at anyone out of melee range. I drive the healer and stay on the edge of the platform for the 2 rounds of Azerite Catalyst, then move closer to Rixxa to dodge the Propellant Blast. Obviously, stay on the opposite side of the tanks for the Propellant Blast. Very predictable fight and once you get the hang of the rhythm of her abilities, it is straightforward.

Mogul Razdunk

Once again, send the DK's in to tank in place. Keep the healer out of range of the Homing Missile damage range. I ignore the Gatling Gun damage. During phase 2, DK's run after the Skyscorchers and kill them. I heal the tanks as I am able, ignoring damage from the Drill Smash. I try to keep the healer close to a pillar just in case he/she gets targeted by the Drill Smash. Once the Skyscorchers are dead, DK's follow the healer and run to the pillars in turn, heal as able. I leave the DK's by the pillar if they are targeted, otherwise run the healer solo to a pillar and keep the DK's out of damage range. Once the pillars are down, go back to the initial strategy.

Anyway, I should probably cross post in the Dungeons forum, just though I would follow-up with my progress.
