So, today I talked to someone who was using very similar pc setup as me, but he was able to run 40 clients and only using around 20% of the CPU.
I on the other hand can run 20 clients and have my cpu maxed out.
Now, I have my gfx settings turned all the way down, but he said he made changes to his config.wtf in which he reduces those settings even more.
I tried playing around with it, but I got no change to my performance.

Does anyone have experience with the config.wtf?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

lolwut.

Nobody runs 40 clients and only uses 20% of their CPU, without hacks that disable major portions of the game -- such as disabling the game's rendering entirely. In which case, he is probably not a legit multiboxer.

A lot of us have experience with config.wtf. There is not something in config.wtf that you can adjust to only use 20% of a currently available CPU with 40 WoW clients.

There are a lot of people who would be insanely happy to discover a legitimate way to do this, even with 5 WoW clients. I bet you can use 20% on 5 clients with a Threadripper CPU, by not using 80% of the CPU cores!

Ask for a copy of their wtf file and post here so we can critique.

Not sure about retail but in vanilla there were ways to configure the game below what is available through the default UI.

Though, again, these tweaks are all for the old vanilla client and most of them won't work for classic.

I was more interested in tweeking my own config file in retail. Though, I don't know where to start.

Assumed you were talking about classic. I can't see how 20% CPU usage with 40 retail clients would be possible unless you're playing WoW from NASA HQ.
