Hello great community.

First of im running 4-5+ mythic dungeons on my main team so it goes decently, BUT my problem is when in combat my "target" switches often, seems like its more focused on the target nearest than the target i prefer it targeting. I can get used to alot and as mentioned going ok, but would help if I had complete control of my prefered target for all my toons.

Im hoping just for few pointers as to where i shall look to solve this issue.

Thanks in advance.

I am not quite getting what the issue is that you are facing. When you say that your "target" switches while in combat, do you mean your characters switch targets on their own? Also why is target in quotes?

If you have a macro in your DPS rotation that does some kind of "target nearest if no target" then you can get ahead of the client-server sync process due to the macro not being aware yet of the client's manual target change.

[edit] This can also happen if you have a "/startattack" in your macros. I put a /stopmacro [nocombat] sort of thing at the top of all my damage macros to prevent unneeded things from accidentally firing if I'm not actively targeting something I want dead. I have to consciously give the server a half-second or so after I switch targets before I go nuts on the DPS key. If I'm in a target-rich environment, I just faceroll the DPS key and let the auto-target stuff do its thing.

You can add a [@target] to all your spells. This stops your spells from automatically targeting a mob to cast, they just wont cast if you have no target.

/cast [@target] spellname

It does give you complete control over your targeting. I pretty much added that to every spell in every macro for every class. I got tired of finishing a group and if I accidentally hit the dps key one too many times they would pull the next group.

That works great unless you have a macro that cycles through a ground-target spell or one that doesn't require a target or something like pet heals. ;)

again thanks for help so far, but i havent quite found my solution, so im going to make my profile available in hopes for some guidance.

First of: when looking at my profile only take into account my "TEAM2" cause that is the only one i have been working on for my current problem.
Second: I use GSE to handle my Single target rotation and my AOE dps rotation if that can be the cause of some of the problem.

Third: My problem is as follows: When in combat and i TAB-target it keeps returning to former target or target nearest, that can be target that are behind me, i have no control of it. I use my 2 and 3 key for my dps be it single or aoe, I have tried and make via "mapped-key wizard" just a normal broadcast key and that works for the "tab-targeting" but then my focus-heal i have setup doesnt work.

That tab targeting problem is there for everyone, boxing or solo. I can't think of any fix through isBoxer. Tab targeting cycles through the mobs in combat directly in front of you, unless a nearby mob is casting then it prioritizes that one. That is the problem you experience but its actually Working as Intendedâ„¢.

I think you will need to manually target, then use an assist.

You've created a custom Mapped Key for assist, and you've assigned the Target to an entire ATG, which, in this case, happens to be your entire Character Set. If you look at the standard assist Mapped Key for WoW (directly above it), then you'll see that the Target is "All w/o Current," because you wouldn't normally want the character you're playing from to try and assist anyone, as they, themselves, already have the proper target.

So, change the Target to "Others In" of said ATG, but that may not be the entire fix for your issue as you have several Mapped Keys bound to the same Hotkeys throughout your entire profile, which is not good practice, and I do not have time to comb through every single Mapped Key to check if you have proper Targets set all throughout.

I see the error in my ATG and "others in" are now selected, and it works fine for my DPS rotation.

I have cleared up my profile in this file for hopefully much easier read:

I hope that one would be willing to check it out and guide me, why it is my "2" key combination works but my "3" key combination doesnt? my "3" key wont assist as i do on my "2" key - inspite its setup is the same.

They are not set up the same: "DPS Rotation" is set up to use "Assist Me -assign," while "AOE DPS Rotation" is set up to use "Assist Me (Assign)."

One of those two Mapped Keys does not exist in your current profile.

Also, you still have "1" bound to multiple "Pull" Mapped Keys throughout numerous Key Maps, and you have IWT assigned in the class-specific Key Maps. Blanket functions, such as assist or interact, should normally be set on the top-level Mapped Key (e.g. "Combat Hotkeys"), and I'm not sure they're even functioning properly where you currently have them set up.

Hello again, work takes up too much time:)
thanks again for pointing out my error with the assist keymap, leftover from weeks ago, i thought i had checked and checked again for stupid mistakes like that. My "1-pull" key i made cause i needed different toons to do an ability while my tank were pulling, but yeah just my way to make quick fix.
Currently taking team through M+ 2-3 in time and a 4 over time, hoping for alot further progress this week.

If anyone reading this:) current team is DK-tank, Disc-Priest, Ele-Shaman, BM-Hunter and Balance Druid, my old team consist of Monk-Tank, Disc-Priest and 3 BM-hunters which was doing better but i hope when current team is bit better geared around 375ilvl they will pass my old team in progress.

This is a bit like my current main team which is mixed to get the most transmogs. Plate, cloth, mail, leather, you have it all covered. And you picked good classes fun to box, you will do well.

For my teams I absolutely do NOT allow any of their cast macros to be absent minded. Meaning any /cast or /castsequence without an associated [@target, harm, exists] means they will auto-acquire a nearby target. This is a big problem starter in tightly wound dungeons like Freehold where pulling extra trash is a bad idea.

So all of their DPS macros start with /cast [@target, harm, exists] or /castsequence [@target, harm, exists]

Then I run a 3-macro switched keymap I toggle on and off.
Step 1: PvE targetting (/targetenemy)
Step 2: PvP targetting (/targetenemyplayer)
Step 3: SAFE targetting (/assist SLOT 1)

This way nothing gets picked up I'm not intending to target. If I want them to actually just auto-select targets in their DPS rotations I'll toggle it. Otherwise it's off especially for dungeon runs.
