Hi, does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of the patch 8.1 lag here?
Only place that i can't run around like i used to. I 5-box and one char is on display setting 7, the others 1.

My pc just turned 7 this month, specs are below.

CPU: Intel i7 x 980 @ 3.33GHz
Motherboard: Asus Rampage 3 Extreme

i found my answers here

https://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/54965-8-1-Changes-can-no-longer-maintain-5-Windows

front window 60 fps.. slaves 12 fps
DirectX 11
set all to 1 display

Had to load them one of a time. Goes pretty fast but the 12 GB ram may be low

Thanks will take a look at the fps and directx, i wont touch 7 display on my main as i want to see ground effects. Plus whenever i mess with this setting, the game just stops responding...it changes the setting, but i have to restart the characters window

I used his MSI Afterburner idea to find where my bottleneck was. When I googled your cpu it shows up on the bottom 25% of the passmark list so it may be showing its age.

This is an issue for me as well ever since 8.1.

I can change the graphic settings in a macro, but if I try to change anything manually in settings the whole screen locks up as soon as I click OK. The settings do save though.

My games only freeze when im changing from dx12 to dx11. After that its all smooth sailing changing videosettings.

Start all the 5 games like normal.
Then at the character select screen, go to options on one game, change to dx11. It will hang. Force a shutdown of that game. Open that game up again. It should now be dx11. Change videosettings from 7 to 1. Apply. Now restart that game. Is it on dx11 and settings 1? Great. Shut that game down.

Now do the same prosedyre with the other 4 games, as described above.

If you maybe didnt try this :)

I noticed that when I changed back to DX11 that the freezing issue stopped (for me at least).

Since you are using Nvidia, you receive no benefit to using D12 no matter how powerful your system.

With the Battle for Azeroth Pre-Patch, we added support for DirectX 12, solely to improve performance on certain hardware. NVIDIA’s DirectX 11 support is already heavily optimized for WoW, to the point that there is currently no performance increase to be gained through our current implementation of DirectX 12 for WoW on NVIDIA systems.

My guess is that that statement is no longer true since the release of patch 8.1, and they just forgot to un-sticky it because Blizzard seems to be falling apart internally. Now, with the introduction of the specific enhancements to DX12 only, both manufacturers can take advantage of them, especially since they're now defaulting all DX12-capable systems to use DX12 (mentioned in the 8.1 patch notes), rather than DX11 (where the reverse was true for nVidia only prior to patch 8.1).

Do you have any overclocking done? I feel like getting that chip to 4.4ghz or so shouldn't be too difficult with an aftermarket cooler, and would make a huge difference.
