Jamba or EMA ?

Hi,

There has been a lot of drama around Jamba these past few days.

My question is : which one is the best for us to use between jamba and ema ?

I have updated to Jamba 8.0 but it seems to have some issues.

Jamba no longer has the team mount option. So that kills it for me. We put the issue to the bugtracker and were told its an "extra feature" and
got no support. I can only remember this feature beeing a core one....but thats me...

The Jamba they have on Curse atm has a few issues yes. You might need to spend some time to get acquainted with LUA and WoW API for the time being. It's not ideal but it might be the only option if you desire to have that Jamba functionality back. Most if not all of the issues in the current Jamba release can be fixed by a novice.

EMA I only know when it was Jamba and it also had issues at launch. Personally (the choice I made) was to fix Jamba to get something working for launch.

Just keep in mind that both Jamba and EMA have gone through a fair bit of change since the 8.x patches hit. EMA is also a new fork of Jamba, so give it a bit for Ebony to wrangle it into shape. Ultimately, though, the "best" is the one you can make work for you. The API changes destabilized a BUNCH of addons, and some are still really struggling to not just asplode, catch on fire, and burn the house down (see most of the auction house addons like TSM).

Just because you don't know something, doesn't make it true. Mount was added by Ebony on Oct 4th 2016 in version Beta-7.0.3-5.1.0c

As for no support, not getting what you want is not the same as not getting support. :)

As for mount ill just put this here, as jabberie said it was somthing i added in legion jamba was bron in wotlk, would not call that somthing thats been part of yhe core for "ages", if we was talking about taxi then i understand a bit more!

The mount infact came from somthing hydra had. (That project is now dead and would think mount would not work)

As why it was removed it uses arua and spell names both of witch blizzard as made big changes on. Tons off addons are broken from having problem i spend 3 10 hour long days getting ot to work for ema as ema and jamba dont use the same libs/backend systemd its not a fast job just to fix it. So no i did not remove it because am having a mardy. As well one more even ema mount is funny becouse its so hard in blizzards api to till if you mounted or not they just dont give us the tools we need!

I'd appreciate help from anyone. I haven't played in 4 or 5 years so I'm learning everything over from new. I've done a clean install of WoW, elvUI and EMA. I've added my toons to a team but in EMA :

i) I can't get automated invite to party and follow working, and

ii) push settings isn't working.


I notice in the EMA folder there is a bindings.xml folder - is there somewhere I am missing to define these ?

I've tried doing discrete hot keys for /ema-team iammaster all and /ema-follow strobeonme all but they don't do anything (I may have syntax wrong, as I said its been years since I played).

Also if the above can be sorted is the automatic quest sharing and completion working atm in EMA ?

Thanks Jabberie. My problem is I don't know if there is an issue or if my lack of knowing how to set it up is the problem. Are there instructions somewhere I can read through on macros I need to set up and syntax for example ?


edit : Getting somewhere. It was my dumb mistake. I was trying to push team list but you need to add team manually on each toon before push will work.

Using EMA and ISBoxer. Follow is working fine and quest tracker/sharing but quest completion not working at all. Anyone any ideas on anything I could try to fix this please ?

ON quest selection and acceptance
ON accept quests
ON accept quest with team
ON only auto accept quests from team and party
ON master auto share quests when accepted
ON Toon auto accept escort quests from team
ON Hold shift to override auto selected/auto complete

page 2:

ON enable auto quest completion
ON toon complete quest with team
ON Toon complete quest with team
ON toon choose same reward as team
ON override: if minion already has reward selected, choose that reward

page 3

ON enable objective tracker
ON unlocks the objective tracker
ON hide blizzards objective tracker
ON show completed objectives as "DONE".

Thats my settings atleast.

Not sure what it could be.
Try make sure on each character, that they have the same settings as the master.
And that each is on the team list.

I noticed this myself, cause even if i created a team on my master and then "push all settings" to slaves, it didnt do that to all slaves regarding the teamlist.

Sidenote:
i was stuck a few times while questing, no quests to be found nowhere.. turned out i had to manually go into the questlog and press the complete quest inside there...

does all your chars have a team? you need to add the members on everyone if not there be trust problems or though with quest working i don't know if you can track it down to a bug? then report that at my bug tracker.

if you want more help then maybe post SS of your team list and your quest settings pages as well what team are we running? and it is all quests or just quests with rewards?

Team is set up on all members. Every member has same settings. Push is working fine across the team. Follow is working fine for all toons.

Last thing I can try is I set up a hot key in ISB during the quick set up wizard to interact with target. I'll try without that.

Done clean install of latest EMA and a clean install of ISBoxer. Tried disabling all other AddOns. Still the same thing. Quest sharing works fine but quest completion not working across the team. :(

New info : it's something to do with targeting and assisting/interacting.

If I open up the complete quest window on the NPC on multiple toons and complete the quest on one of the toons quest completion works on the other toon as does accepting/sharing the next quest in the series.

please help ! :)

ps Taxi isn't working either btw. Again taxi does work if I open the Flight Master UI on each toon before I choose a destination.

EMA, Can not target Npcs or interact with them, it the interfact with target is locked to blizzard UI and even then it would need a hardware event

This would be down to ISBoxer down to your other software, i would open a new topic about it.

Im not home so cant check. Make sure you are in a party or raid ingame. Dont stand there ungrouped.

You run up to the flightmaster.

Target it with your main. Right click. Window ui opens.

Make the others assist you and then press the interact with target keybind. All window uis are now open.

Then choose the path you want to fly to, on your main.

All should now fly there.

Thanks so much to both of you. It's the assist and interact functions that aren't working so something to do with ISBoxer.

I'm trying to do a clean install of ISB but some config info is staying when I delete the Addon and the install. I've asked for help over there.

IS42 – viritual combat (no keybinds inside)

IS42 – always on
Activate maps = shift + alt + m
Activate repeat = alt + |
Toggle formations menu = ctrl + shift + alt + f

Follow me = |
Assist me = alt + a
All jump = spacebar
Interact with target = alt + q
Invite team = shift + alt + i

Here are all my assist keybinds…. Round-robin…straight broadcast etc.


Lower left area... click on IS42 – combat broadcast hotkeys, and then tick on the box to "world of warcraft: ftl modifiers". I have my "execute a step when hotkey is pressed".




Easiest way to create a assist me dps button:

Rightclick “mapped keys” in the lower left area.
Choose mapped key wizard.
Choose to make a assist and broadcast button.
F.ex to make a single target dps button: “F”.


Now go back to the “IS42 – base hotkeys” and copy the “do assist me in ISB42 – base hotkeys key map à self” step to clipboard, which you can find under the assist me (which I have keybinded to alt + a).

Go back to the newly created “F” button in IS42 – combat broadcast hotkeys, and in the lower left area, then expand to find and make it so it looks like below. Paste in the assist part as needed. And then click on and move up or down as needed. In the end it should look like this:

-- 1. Do assist me in ISB42 – Base hotkeys key map -> self
2. F -> all







AND, for your interact with target, create another “assist me and broadcast button” in here, similar to what you did to “F” and name it "interact with target". I have my binded to alt + q.

Wait, wut? I was not under the impression that this would *ever* work any differently. I always, always, always press my assist+IWT key when I'm turning in quests or taking a taxi. Was there something that led you to believe Jamba/EMA/ISBoxer would automatically do those things?

I couldn't remember how it worked to be honest and I was getting confused by interact and assist macros not broadcasting. Clear and fresh install of ISB fixed it.

Seriously, the Jamba-Mount in place last year resulted in various characters dying (from fall damage) more often than not. A basic mount macro worked better than how Jamba-Mount worked.
