Apparently I'm a gold farmer making 3rd world deals or some junk since I'm a 5-boxer ;) Vyn/Vel jumped in on the last thread w/ a pleathora of links.

I must've hit the big times for doing the Halaa daily on my squad :P

These people need to take a class in common sense...

Completing 1 quest with 5 characters = 5x the monetary reward.

If I was a gold seller, yes that's 5x more profit.

But if you are simply playing the game normally with 5 Characters at once, you'll have 5x the expenditure too... equalling a grand total of 0 (thats ZERO, NONE, NIL) monetary advantage over a single-player. The only difference it makes to them is they can't ambush you alone while questing so easily, and how is that any different from questing with a friend?

But of course I don't have to tell you guys that do I? *cough*

But a little way through, after being repeatedly referred to the blue posts confirming things, he just started with the fancy-pants version of "I know you are but what am I?" THat's when I stopped reading. :P

LOL... actually I stopped reading it as soon as I saw it was another QQ about multiboxing. :whistling:

Heh, honestly, I was just reading through to see if there were any good candidates for flame jobs. :P But as soon as Vyndree posted the Wall o' Blue, he kinda went away. Oh well.

I'm so glad Vyndree has the patience for this type of thing.

Once I see Vyndree's post, it's pretty much a ["I Win" button] post and they have nothing else to say.

Post 25 - Velath posted the huge list of links and references.

Post 26 - Reythur (Blue) locked the thread and says this:

Indeed. Locked. Please refer to the link that Velath provided for more information regarding Multi-Boxing.

That is because I am made of yummy win-button goodness.

Or maybe that I maintain the GM Conversations wiki. Hmm...

This one doesn't really show much new stuff, though. The first blue post in that thread is already part of our GM Convo wiki.

I like Reythur...he isn't afraid to reference other posters and seems to keep a decent eye on boxer threads...makes me wonder if Blizzard promoted him to some kind of boxing-related monitoring position :p

Belfaire responded, and LOCKED this guy's customer service thread, and now he's starting an identical one in the General Forums where Belfaire can't lock it.

Everyone do me a favor and report the OP for trolling (i.e. posting about a locked thread)

Some ethics are important to keeping the game fun. It really is no fun to play with people who spend thousands of $$ on the toon/server flavor of the month ebay. Diablo took a major downturn once there were umpty-jillion duped items. People who botted/shared/paid for the pvp ranks in the old stay-on-24/7-or-lose pvp system made it suck for people really trying. It's not a moot point because it's a game. I just don't think it applies to multiboxing, generally.
Once people think of it as 5 toons, instead of OMGONEPERSONPWNDRWHOLETEAM!!11!!11, then most of the issues disappear(as they should). The only one left, which not all multiboxers do, is the question of whether 5v1, while definitely not sporting, is across the line in a game. I don't think it really is... especially with PvE servers available, but it I see no real point to it either.... but I also don't tend to troll Redridge or the Barrens with my 70s even single, and plenty do. That's not a style limited to multiboxing - it's just another form of ganking.

This actually makes for some really good discussions. How far should you be allowed to go to maximize your own enjoyment in a multi-user game? Should there be boundaries and what are they? Is your enjoyment derived at the expense of another? Is "its just a game" and "its not against the rules of the game" be valid excuses for anti-social behaviour in a game?

There is already a whole social subculture, usually on server forums (most online games, not just wow), where guilds and individuals can be named and shamed and reputations can come under fire. Sadly, in WoW, with server transfers and character renaming it is quite easy for a lot of people to escape their reputations and with the prevelance of anonymous trolling most people don't even bother reading the forums which erodes the "community" feel of a server. Cross-server battlegrounds and smaller guilds due to reduced raid instance size also contributes to less of a community feel.

However, these social communities can sometimes have a significant impact and if a guild or individual gets a bad reputation a community can have an impact on them. For instance an individual that ninjas during a raid can be monitored and when joining a new guild the guild leadership can be informed of the past actions of the player. These measures are completely player driven and enforces a social responsibility because there are consequences for your actions.

Other people live by the "do unto others as you want them to do unto you" philosophy in life and in-game. They bring their ethics with them to the game and is it really a bad thing? Do we prefer the cesspool of Barrens chat or do we enjoy talking to firendly informed and helpful people? What would the game be like if everyone was a trash talker? WoW seems to be getting more and more like that, talking in General chat usually deteriorates into a Chuck Norris, in my pants, your mum, e-peen slinging contest.

Hehe thats what I said on the WoW forums, people bring ethics with them. Although my post wasn't as nicely laid out is yours is. Unfortunately you are correct about the general chat, but at least we still have us multiboxers/friends/guildies to talk to properly :D

valid excuses for anti-social behaviour in a game? People can't really force you to socialise. I guess it would kinda defeat the purpose of playing an MMO (thats one of the main reasons I play WoW) The only way they could force you to is to write in the TOS that you have to talk/deal with people, and that would just be stupid lol

god he is making my head hurt but at least I have managed to get through two days at work without doing anything because of it :) (I so needed to get my head cleared so I could refocus) but it is at least making me thing about things regarding multi-boxing so it's not a total loss for me...and I get to work some of my debating skills back in other than just glowering at someone and threatening to beat them :D
