I know you normally don't allow hardware links, but video cards are so expensive right now and thought many would appreciate it.
Nvidia has just restocked their store.

I bought me a 1080 Ti for $699. They also have the Titan for $1200. Can even get yourself a 1070 for $400.
I have been checking every single day to snipe one of these, and my research tells me they will be sold out by tomorrow. Go quick.

They are already out of stock! Are they just cleaning house? making room for 11XX Series?

Two of them out of stock already. But that may be a "soft" sell out, as people put them in their cart they put a temporary hold on the item which is eventually released if they don't buy it.
In a week once they are delivered you will find them on Amazon being resold for premium price.

The video card market gone bananas is fascinating. I am in the market for a new video card at some point, but WoW still runs at 60 fps main/15 fps slaves so I guess I can't complain. Would really like to stream/save some of my clips though but the playing experience is no good.

The video card shortage has gotten worse. As miners make less mining Bitcoin they just switch to Ethereum mining. Less individuals are mining coins and its now switched to larger mining datacenters, people investing millions to run systems with thousands of video cards.

Can't really fault NVidia for capitalism. On the other hand, if miners subsidize the next tier of advances in video cards without keeping the inflation going nuts for the rest of us, I can't call that an all-bad thing.
I'm only glad I went ahead and bought my 980Ti before all this blew up.

If you have $34,000 using 8 Titan cards

I don't think the miners will be subsidizing the next advances in video cards, I think the manufacturers are just going to start building specifically for mining and gamers get the leftovers.

Perhaps. At some point, though, it should reach equilibrium with regards to ROI in mining ops. I mean, based on some research I did a while back it's already pretty much a wash for regular joes with the gains rarely making much over the power costs to keep a 300-watt video card crunching 24/7. As mining hardware become faster, the price per coin should go down, etc. Thermal management costs (at least where it gets hot like here in Texas) aren't marginal, either.
That said, looking at some of the related ebay listings....holy hell, so THAT'S where all the cards went. I had no idea those were a thing.
