Greetings.

Long dream come true, hopefully..

The computers are up and running and the accounts and characters are ready to go.

I might need some pointers if i get stuck, i suspect..

Maybe others will learn something from my potensial struggles aswell.

Im working these days so its not often i have time to work on this every time.

I will try to follow the http://isboxer.com/wiki/HOWTO:Use_ISBoxer_With_Multiple_Computers step by step and if im totally stuck i will ask for some guidance.

/pats himself on the back for good luck

Updates to come...

(in my next post i will edit it as im making progress: marking what ive successfully completed with green color and what im stuck on with red color).

Overview of multiple PC usage

The first thing you will need to do is decide which PC will handle which Characters.
(ok, easy enough..)

The Characters you pick for each PC will be placed into their own Character Sets as you follow this guide. When properly completed, each PC will run its own Character Set (if you have two PCs, then you will have two Character Sets that each have a portion of your team).
(ok, i installed isboxer and innerspace on both computers (i only have 1 licence though, should work i suppose). For my "main pc" i created a character set named "Toon 1-10". And on pc number 2 i created a character set named "Toon 11-16".

They will be linked together from the Character Set on your main PC. When you launch the Character Set on your main PC, the linked Character Sets will automatically launch.
(ok...)

To accomplish this, the same configuration will be kept on all PCs -- maintained from your main PC, and then copied to each of the others.
(ok this sounds complicated.. time will tell...).

Any broadcast to "all windows" (or "all w/o current", etc) will include all linked PCs.
(ok thats cool).

Action Target Groups will also work across linked PCs. When using Mouse Repeater, make sure not to enable Repeater from All Windows -- this will cause all PCs to enable Repeater and, since they all have an active foreground window, will result in each of them broadcasting their mouse cursor, therefore causing jittering.
(Note to self..)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Configuring your firewall

ISBoxer's Multiple Computer Helper requires TCP port 10102 to be open for incoming connections on the PC or PCs that will be connected to from your main PC.
(not entirely sure what this mean: "that will be connected to from your main PC"). Do i create this rule on my main pc or my slave pc?

Inner Space requires TCP port 10101 (configurable per PC) to be open for incoming connections on the PC or PCs that will be connected to from your main PC.
(not entirely sure what this mean: "(configurable per PC) to be open for incoming connections on the PC or PCs that will be connected to from your main PC."). Do i create this rule on my main pc or my slave pc?

My note for later progress:
In win 10: right click start menu... go to control panel...then system and security...then windows firewall....advanced settings on the left side....click on inbound rules top left... create new rule on the far right... choose to create a new port rule... click next... create a "TCP" rule....and type in the trusted spesific port below: 10102....allow the connection... click next....remove the box for "public", so that only "domain and private" are checked. ...click next... Name your rule....and click finish. You will then find your "rule" in the midle under "inbound Rules" if you need to make changes later on.

Hm... im almost done it seems.

Ran into a small snag with:

"The character "nameoftoon-realm" is set to use wow folder c...blabla..., but this path does not exist. Aborting."

Ive doublechecked the usual places + updated the link when i right click innerspace and under configuration... + checked that the game directory is correct under the c drive.

(i only get this error regarding "toon nr 2". The others, 3 to 10, also use the same game path, but i dont get any errors from those..).

Also, this error appears on pc nr 2s monitor (where only toon 11-16 is supposed to be).
(error appear after ive righclicked on "computers" on pc nr 1 and choosed "copy + export all to innerspace on all computers")

Maybe someone else has an idea what im missing.

/dives into bed.

No red questions to answer,but.

"connected to, from your main pc". There should be a comma to break up that statement indicate that the main PC will be connecting to the slave PCs. So, yea, Inbound firewall rules on your slave PCs. You should also create the same inbound firewall rules on your main PC, or specifically the ISBoxer TCP: 10102, for the multi computer helper, if the helper is not detecting the other PCs.

Game path errors usually arise when the Game Profiles you select on your main PC when configuring characters are only the game profiles local to your main PC. So if they are named differently on the slave PC, then the slave PC wont be able to find the game profile. Paths usually only come into it when you have multiple game profiles on the main PC, which match by name multiple game profiles on a slave PC, and one of them doesn't work.
You need to go through each character in the top left, and make sure the Game/Game Profile dropdowns match appropriate values for the PC they will be running on. This might mean syncing it up so both PC's have the same names for the Game/Game Profiles (although they can have different installation paths), although it does sound like you have the right options to select for Game/Game Profile, just that toon nr 2, is not using the same as toon 3 to 10.

Thanks a lot Bob.

The issue was that i had ro remove and update the "old games not in use" in the config area when i right clicked innerspace. I also changed my games directive names so they had the same, it worked.

Everything works now, almost.

I decided to create a "pro" setup for both pcs and for some reason i cant activate the "shift + alt + m" to toggle the keymap on and off when all the games have launched. Im also using "alt + |" to turn on and off "broadcast all keys and mousecursors". But thats not working either.

Infact it wont any longer broadcast any keystrokes, but it seems it should. Been checking every setting and place i can think of.

Taking 3-4 hours every day with trial and error to get this sorted.
Definitly not easy and the "guide" is very misleading, it only show a very very small portion of all the work involved /brain melting stuff.

Im off to work. Back around 11 pm.

I'd write up my experience of setting up multi-computers, but it would be pretty boring. I followed the instructions and it worked first time. Took about an hour all up from go to playing. BUT, I do that kind of stuff every day, so I could accurately guess if there was something missing.

Not sure why broadcasting wont work for you (or presumably any keystrokes send to the game as they all use the same mechanism). That sounds very muchly like something in your profile is not quite right. That usually requires a sharing of your config (http://isboxer.com/wiki/Configuration_Sharing) to figure out.

Hi again.

ok after much troubles i decided to delete everything and start from scratch.

Eventually one of my monitors made a "went black then came back on" and after that my window layout for pc 1 was corrupted. Had no choice but to start from scratch again. And making different backups of isboxer after that.. ;)

Im now up and running.

The only thing i still seem to have to finetune is:

The cursors on computer 1: game 1-10, matches where is it on the different screen/games.

The cursors on computer 2: game 11-16 does not match.. (when i move the cursor to the "breaking news" info screen where you type in the password etc ingame on computer nr 1, only then do the cursors appear on computer nr 2 (they start to show up where you type in the password).

Ohwell, getting there :P

That'll happen if the Window Layouts on your 2 different PCs are using different resolutions. Presumably, you've got a 10-window layout on PC 1, and a 5-window layout on PC 2, and you have them using different sizes. If you have PC 2 use the same Window Layout as PC 1 (the 10 window layout), it should match fine.

eh hang on... went to top left window....Repeater profiles... default... Enabled only "show fake cursor"....and Set "cursor positioning mode to = scaled to fit, from center".

It works now..

The cursor doesnt show on game nr 1 on computer nr 2 though..

so close..

Yeees...

Top left window....Repeater profiles... default...
Enabled "show fake cursor"...."
Enabled "Repeat target = my main character on pc nr 1"
Enabled "cursor positioning mode = "scaled to fit, from center".
Enabled "Allow active window cursor to move via broadcast /multi pc)).

The cursors align pixel perfect now.

(this setting wasnt saved over to pc nr 2 when i saved and exported to innerspace from pc nr 1. I just made the same settings though on pc 2 and choosed my main character on pc 2 instead).

/takes backup

/time for a break.

/Time to setup ui's etc later on :p

If they're the same Aspect Ratio, that will more or less work well enough for the 3d space, sure. There is no real guarantee about the game's UI lining up that way though (this will also depend on the game) -- for example, if the game is using the SAME WINDOW SIZES at 1920x1080 as it does at 1728x972 the windows are going to be larger on the smaller screens, but if the game SCALES the 1080p UI down to fit the 1728x972 size, they could actually end up the same.

Scaling the cursor positioning like this also makes some of your pixels in the larger screens effectively unreachable by broadcasting from the smaller screens. "Pixel perfect" mouse broadcasting would require the windows being exactly the same resolution, such that every pixel on PC1 corresponds to exactly 1 pixel on PC 2 and vice versa.

Seems i was lucky then. They seem "pixel perfect". I will take it.

While trying to setup ui's etc, i noticed it would have been handy to switch a slaves window into my computer nr 1 main monitor /cough

On my main pc i have two monitors: 1 with only 1 large wow screen and the other monitor with 9 smaller ones.
When i press F12 i can advance a game = game 1 takes the place of game 2 and game 2 gets placed on monitor 1 in full 1920 x 1080. I can do this multiple times to cycle through all the 10 games. I have F11 to go back a game.

What would have been awesome though, is if i was in game 10...and then pressed F12 again and then game1 on computer 2 showed up fullscreen on computer nr 1.. etc.
That would be my next goal. If its possible.

Well thx a LOT everyone for helping me out on this part.

It was easy enough, after you have learned it... to get 2 pcs to communicate.

This is not the hard part though, by a mile..

I will be making new threads for any new questions i might have.

/thread closed.
