With the announcement of Classic Wow. Kind of curious who boxed back then (Vanilla)?

What did you do?
PVE? Raids? Instances?
PVP? World? Any higher ranks?

for me. I started boxing in vanilla. 2 accounts. Mostly to transfer stuff between Alliance and Horde. Use the neutral auction houses. I also carried a healer. When we had BWL and Onyxia on farm, I could 2box the raid.

I can't even remember the name of the addon or assist program I used. Maybe if someone named it, I would remember. I remember just using basic macros and had 2 windows tiled and would click back and forth, lol. Seems so antiquated compared to now.

So long ago, but I remember like it was yesterday... crazy...

I was a raiding guild <Orion> on Darkspear. I remember we spent 4 months on Vaelestraz and the excitement of getting one of the first Ashkandi, Greatsword of the Brotherhood (http://www.wowhead.com/item=19364/ashkandi-greatsword-of-the-brotherhood) on our server. It was a big deal because I played Retribution Paladin at the time and there was a big stigma against them and their ability to do damage. One of our best DPS Warriors was my biggest advocate for getting the item. I remember he (and quite a few others) threatened to quit the guild if I didn't get that item because my performance deserved it.

I always loved running dungeons and helping people. I think that's why I became a Guild Master in BC - to help others. It's also why I got into multi-boxing. We didn't have enough people to play with and because a lot of my friends have had to go really casual, we would consistently not have enough people. My team now fills that role (when people show up).

I also did a lot of PvP in Vanilla. I remember I spent 2 weeks straight in AV to farm up enough rep to get The Unstoppable Force (http://www.wowhead.com/item=19323/the-unstoppable-force). That was when the games would last 13hr+!!! I liked PvP then because it wasn't "BOOM you're dead!" you had a chance to fight (and run) if you could. Good people could take on multiple players. I made it all the way to Knight-Captain.

Anyway, that's a few memories I had. :)

Oh Vael. Ya, I think we spent at least 2 months at that road block. Hard to recall all these details. Been so long. I do remember when we got Vael the first time, it was one of those top 5 satisfying moments in wow.

Very cool on your guildes backing you up on the gear.

I too remember the 12+ hour AV games. Good times. What rank was Knight-Captain? R8? Think I made it to R10; Champion. I just couldn't commit more time to that R14 grind. However, I remember helping a few guildes and buddies get the Rank 14.

Do you recall your setup, addons, or assist programs from that time?

Yeah rank 8. I couldn't devote the time to getting higher either.

The ones I remember are CTraid, PallyPower, Grid were the main ones I used.

I had a warrior and a priest, on two pcs with two mice and keyboards, so I could grind the scarlet elites in the eastern plaguelands. They could drop the epic BOE weapons and traveller's backpacks (16 slots!)

At one point (slap on the wrist it must be 10 years ago), I setup voice commands to heal.. i'd been straining HEAL.. as it failed to recognise my command :D

I had a single Warlock took me months to level and my bother got my account banned for botting. Came back sometime in bc when the game was a bit bit better.

omg, the coveted 16 slotters. 2 computers and voice commands -- awesome.

I two-boxed vanilla with a straight-key-broadcast app I wrote in Visual Basic 5.0. It was ugly but it worked for two of the same class...mostly. Nothing like it does today but it was enough to keep me from constantly getting ganked by the damned T-Rex in Un'Goro Crater. :P Honestly, that experience was why I started, as my shaman just kept dying out there. Frustration is a prime motivator. ;)
