Any active boxers?

Hey folks,

Just picked up FFXIV and like the atmosphere of the game so far.

But getting the the urge to box (mainly for PotD) but if I grasp it then possibly dungeons.

Any boxers currently active?

Any tips on jobs etc?

I've looked at summoners too. Is there much longevity in the game or does it get boring quickly?

I haven't played in years. It is fun. I play wow now. It's just.. better lol.

FFXIV I found (at the time) to be very unresponsive, typical with Korean / Japanese mmos. Every action is preceded by a pause by your character, and an unnecessary amount of ramp-up for actions. Felt too slow. I yearned for the responsiveness of wow and the fluid feeling of combat.

i boxed wow religiously until march 9th 2013 when they killed /follow in bgs. stupid afk botters ruined it for us boxers! do they have /follow again in wow? if you returned..

im also like the OP and interested in boxing ffxiv after not gaming for many years due to career focus. im now returning to mmorpg and looking to multibox ffxiv. my wife usually heals for me. i dont know much about ffxiv except wife and i lvled to 45 as marauder/healer during the trial.

im curious about class comps for both PVE and PVP. i heard pvp in ffxiv is good now. 5 summoners caster dps might be good in pvp. do people run all the same class? in wow i did 5 shaman, 5 druid, or 4dk and a pally all teams hit 2200 rate for the pvp shoulders. im very curious to what works best in ffxiv. i guess i'll have to watch some videos and play around myself since im not familiar with all the classes

Yes, follow broken in BGs sucks... but works in FFXIV :)

I'm gonna try dual boxing this game. I actually use to play a lot solo during heavenward but then I got into WoW and started multiboxing. Young multi boxer here only been doing it for over a year now. Its gonna be interesting boxing ffxiv and carrying over all my isboxer knowledge. I think dual boxing this game is perfect I'll let you guys know how it goes!

I boxed whatever the size of a group is,4? But i had a warrior, summoners and a white mage. White mage had the best AOE at the time.. it did damage and healed.. was way op, not sure if it got nerfed or not. I was planning on leveling a full group of white mages, but ended up coming back to WoW.

All of the Jobs/Classes in this game have much more complex rotations than WoW so its difficult to get good parses I'm thinking, hoping its something that can be optimized and that's the fun in it.

Nice - After I catch up on some videos I wanted to do, I was planning on messing around in FFXIV, as well as maybe RIFT, to sorta branch out from WoW a little bit and get some experience in other games.

FFXIV had some hard dungons, lots of gimmicks where each player had to do something..click this or that at the right time or everyone dies type stuff. I have been tempted to get back into it as well. I enjoyed just making money in the game by spiritbonding gear and then breaking it down for materia used to enhance gear. I cant remember exactly how it worked.. but certain quality materia sold very well, as it was needed to make the best gear. Doing this as your own full group made it an easy money maker. I had a friend who played with me and between both of us, we had all trade skills maxed. There is a lot of cross trade interaction for crafting. (You need items from other trades to make items)

oh that sounds amazing.
From what I have read, crafting gear is very high quality and is still relevant even at the high end which helps a lot.
I have watched a bit of twitch and the current end game content and that is definitely too complex to multibox. Hoping most of the dungeons are doable though. There is a poster on the isboxer forums that ran through most of the content up to the high 50's and did a video of each.

I got a new video card but left the rest of my current PC as is and it was tremendous. I only use maybe 50% cpu playing all 4 characters and my gpu sits at 50-60% usage. Prior to the video card upgrade I couldn't load up past 2 clients, or would chop and freeze, the slaves are also running at 30 fps now. It's so nice to play a game with good quality!

The class system in this game seems great for boxers. You'll only ever have to make one team. Considering it's free to play until 35 you could level all of your classes and then decide if you want to subscribe.

Problem is PvP is terrible by all accounts.

That's the rub though, WoW PvP is all but gutted as well for boxing. I've just learned to embrace the PvE lifestyle.

The free trial is definitely the way to go to test it out. Getting every job up to lvl 35 would take quite a bit of time and at that point you'd know for sure if you want to continue or not.

Also it's been out for a couple of years now but they have the endless dungeon, and I'm a huge fan of this. It's a total of 200 floors that are completely randomized and you do them in chunks of 10 at a time with the difficulty ramping up. Obviously if you grind it out incessantly it'll get dull but it's an amazing option.
It has no barring on your gear and uses a different system so you can jump in as a lvl 20 and be just as effective as a max lvl player.

Currently got a team in the 40's. They made some changes to /target /assist macros in the latest patch that were a bit silly to get around but it's fine just need to replace the character name with the group # the player is.

I currently dualbox the game, I have two expansion keys (I drunkenly bought them thinking they were the complete editions).
