View Full Version : 2x Druid, 3x Hunter VS 5x BM Hunters as a first 5 team?

This will be my first real attempt at multiboxing and I am considering going 2x druid (tank/heal) and 3x BM hunters. I'm on holiday for another 3 weeks so I'm basically still theorycrafting this as a project for when I get back home.

I'll be on OCE-Frostmourne using my existing BNET account to leverage flying/heirlooms.

I have 10 level 110s on my first account already so I have experience with a range of classes, it seems like the general consensus is to go 5x the same class for a first team which might be easier, I basically want to farm and attempt Mythic+ dungeons (between +5-+10) as a long term goal.

With my primary account I can either continue to main my hunter in a 5 man BM team or swap to my guardian druid.I

I'm not sure how people deal with M+ affixes in MB teams so I need to watch more videos and I know a tank+heal+3dps would be more complex but it surely must also be more rewarding?

I have no real idea how hard it is to tank+heal+dps using ISB, BM hunter sounds like it would be just a cast sequence macro + some other misredirect/defensive macros.

Anyone care to share thoughts/experiences/opinions?

I know there is another user on this forum who uses the Guardian/Resto/3X BM hunters and they've had success with it.

As for Macros I know Ebony runs BM hunters in her raid group and I believe she posted her macros in the appropriate Macro section.

Is that Chibilukina? That's who I sort of got the idea from since I watched a couple of their Twitch replays but they're probably quite experienced with MBing they're also on Frostmourne so I'll try reaching out to them but I'm not sure if they're active.

Typing out the above it seemed more clear to me that I should go 5x BM first and then do the 1x Druid afterwards, this way I could swap my main BM to a G. Druid, already have 3 dps and carry my own healer and in the interim I can just farm with 5x BM for simplicity.

any team with mixed classes is harder to control than one with all clones. so for a new player mix teams are a pain.

5x hunters can currently do m+ 10 pretty easily. ymmv due to how late on the expansion you are starting it, at this point i have all legendaries and can go full self heal or full burst with ring + wrist which make m+ a breeze... 25 m dps bursts is frigging hilarious.

5x of the same class means you can funnel loot to the lowest ilvl, which means your average team ilvl will go up over time MUCH faster, it also means a lot of the class hall content is easier to do.

personally as a first team if you do anything but 5x hunters, its a mistake you'll regret later.

second team should be palas, followed by a gathering 5x druid team.

ofc , if you are doing it for RP reasons, or think it will be more fun to face the challenges of mixed teams, then sure, go ahead. but in my experience mixed teams are just for show, and its much easierr to havve 5x of the same classs, and them create other teams using those characters. i have two temas made up mixing palas and hunters for TW. ised to be 3x bm, pala tank and rdruid back when TW dungeons were RREALLY hard. now days its a joke, i only use the palas to get in the instance and just 3 box the place with hunters.

Agree with the above. If it’s your first team, 5 x BM hunter seems to be a wise choice. You’ll be able to easily do high keystones and the play style is really fun, if not the most enjoyable. In my experience, you’ll face a wall for some combos boss / key level / affixes and that is what will push you toward a mixed team later on. Now if your end goal is to finish a M+15 just for the challenge, then building a mixed team exactly as Chibilukina did might also be a good fit. He explained his setup and recorded his strategies for each dungeon at M+1x so you would know first hand what to do. Not to mention that the xpac is further in the lifecycle so the overall difficulty is lower. Guys like davidmage, chibilukina, void, nezreck (spelling?), etc make everyone’s life way way easier by recording their runs. Good luck!

I'll add an agreement to the 5-hunter first group. You can always swap in other alts to fill out the additional slots as time permits. I just find my hunters to be really, really versatile for so many different tasks that it makes them a primary choice for tons of things. Prot Paladins were a very close second, with tradeoffs depending on those rare fights that either hunter or paladin would make easy versus impossible without a pocket healer.
