Replace the Mage?

Hello!

About two weeks ago I decided to start boxing again, and revived my old team (pala/3x shaman/mage).
Haven't been into wow for 10 months or something, and am completely blank regarding all the changes.

Pala is ofcourse protection, shammies 3x elemental and one can go resto for dungeons (if needed)
Mage is fire from the start of Legion.
Item level is 900+ on all by now.

The mage is giving me some challenges. He is so low in DPS, around 1/4th of what the shamans can do.
Sometimes he peaks, and i cannot tell when that would happen.
It feels like he is holding the group back.
World content is not an issue at all, except ofcourse for the purple worldquests.
Heroic dungeons are also ok, some need a healer, some can just be facerolled without a healer.

Are there any macros around for firemages or is it just a no go and replace this toon after all those years with something else?
Which means bring that new toon back into sync with all the others aswell.

i been looking into mages for some time and just really not find a good way for them to work i think atm arcane is the best single target dps

fire with procs it would need to be manged as a 2 button dps,

Arcane problems would be 2 button as well with the burn mana and use mana play style.

Frost might work, and there is a few 1 button marcios for them

really though bm hunters, affi locks are in good place for dps atm

or just make it easy and do a 4th sham?

Was afraid of that :)
Might have to bring back the lvl 85 shammy that was originally part of this team.
Would mean i have to go through Pandaria, WoD and Legion again to get her up to par.
Hate the Garrisons :)

well with looms must of garrsions can be skiped, (or even dungon boost it) legion is not so bad with inviation leveling i guess and is erasyer with Looms but ya...

better then starting from wod i find bc/wotlk the worse to level up in

I've replaced the mage with my old 85 shaman. Now the team is 1x pala + 4x shaman.
Already after getting into legion, i was able to roflstomp some dungeons (found out i haven't completed even all on normal :))
random heriocs go really great as well, things go so much better now the 5th toon does decent dps.
