Hey all, I am having a problem getting 2 copies of wow to run at the same time. I use one computer but 2 accounts. I have been doing this for about 6 months with no problems but I recently had to repair windows and now I am having a lot of trouble.
I updated all my drivers and directx recently as well. So here is the problem.
When I log on both my characters they seem to be working fine. I can kill mobs and run around with no problems, but as soon as I put my second charater on autofollow the video on my first account starts to go crazy. I can see through the ground and there are random mountains everywhere. Blizzard says they wont help me so I really don't know what to do.
I use CTraid and Autohotkey, I can post my components if it will help too. This is really beyond me.

Conquer and divide ... What happens when you just run the two instances of wow.exe, without addons or automation utilities? Are you able to manually follow your character around, kill stuff, trade items, stop following and follow the other character?
Are you able to follow a random passerby character with or without the second box online?
Perhaps others might ask if these two separate installs? c:\wow1\ and c:\wow2\

Are you running both WoW instances from the same directory?
Tried running the WoW repair tool?
Also there are some known issues with autofollow, that causes a disconnect. May be related - try enabling vsync in your graphics card control panel, that works for some people.

Alright I tested it a bit more. Basically everything works fine while I have either on of my accounts standing still. As soon as they are both moving, the screen that I am watching goes crazy. It doesn't matter if they are following eachother or just flying on a hypogryph.
I turned off all UI mods and turned off autohotkey. I still had the problem. I only have WOW installed once, and I am doing everything exactly like I was before when it worked just fine. So I really think it must be some setting that changed and I don't know where to go to change it back.
Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

I had weird issues when I tried dual-boxing from the same install, but not the exact same thing you're having. But I'd still recommend copying your WoW directory to a second location, preferably on a different disk, and create a shortcut to the launcher.exe for that location on your desktop. I've been three boxing and have three different WoW directories. Just copy the entire World of Warcraft folder and you're good to go. I named my shortcuts WoW2 and WoW3 and have account names stored for each instance.
edit: As a side note, I've never suffered follower disconnect with multiple program locations. I even keep a copy in a USB drive to play at work or anywhere I can't install it.

Well I would call this pretty solid progress at least toward a tracking down the problem. My thoughts are toward muting of the advanced graphics settings and double checking driver versions.
I know when I had some bad ram in a machine; and as ItemSync got big or when I was in a raid I had a similar issue to what your describing - all the models had completely random textures. Could be similar to what your describing with the second account.
If you were to describe this issue as if it occurred on a single screen perhaps they would be able to point you in some directions.

I think I will try that second install of WoW and see if that works. I don't really know what to do about my graphics settings.
Also I did describe the problem to Bliz and they just told me to check my drivers and DirectX.
If you could be specific about where to go and what to do about those settings, or point me to a guide or something I would appreciate it.

try to turn off/on shader options, different multisampling options etc. in WoW.
And yes, try to copy your WoW folder and run 2nd client from the copy, might help.
