View Full Version : [WoW] Sentinax farming tips - multiboxer perspective
Halo \ó
Most of us may be aware of about the trick, which makes mob farming super easy and fast. Shortly put: Kill/damage mobs before they scale HP against all the characters. I don't know the correct numbers, but if a mob have 1M HP, and you damage it on multiple toons with low damage spell (thus not one-shotting the mob) then the mob will multiply it's HP by amount of attackers. If you dmg it with 10 toons, it may suddenly have 10M max HP and so on.
The scaling affects only the percentage amount, so if your pull spells damage mob down to 50% before the scale, it scales its HP to 50% of 10M, so you'll have to dps only that remaining 5M HP instead of more.
I've been oneshotting mob packs that spawns from portals. I run 10 Havoc Demon Hunters, and whenever the portal spawns mobs, I have the toons aligned the way that I can Fel Rush x10 towards the portal, usually killing the whole pack at once. Then I have time to run away from the portal, align the toons again for next mob pack.. If Fel Rush is on CD, then I throw glaives which is also very strong pull spell when cast by multiple characters. (Fel Mastery, Bloodlet and Master of the Glaives talents help there a lot with the burst dmg)
It's super fast method, I believe at least mages could oneshot burst the packs down with multiple Supernovas, but the CD on that talent might be a bit too long even with 2 charges.
If you have multiple beacons with same colour, you can use one at first to check the location where the portal spawns with that coloured beacon, then just spam all the beacons with same colour on all toons, and you'll have an awesome farming spot for a long time, as the other beacons go to the "queue" and portal just keep pushing and pushing the mobs, waiting to be oneshotted with your team..

Something else ive been doing is cast a greater beacon then use lessers to extend the duration of the greater. If no one pops a lieutenant i can keep the greater portal spawning mobs for a long time. I find i gain a lot more shards this way than just spamming the lowly green portals.

If people in your area are going solo just pop your guys in groups of 4 so everyone can get a tag.
Just means everyone can lure to the same portal and the shards per hour increase dramatically.

Good to know, thanks :)

Aye, this is good to remember. For maximum tags of 9 you may run one party of four, and one party of five, but you need to make sure that party of four tags the mobs first :) (when doing the portal alone) (however, the "one-shotting" method will not work if the mobs scale the HP against the first party)

This is what I've been doing too. I don't use all of my lessers at once though, but just pop one after each elite cycle. That way if someone horns in on your spot you can move or wait them out.

DANG IT! I did not know you could do this.. i had tons of greaters before the nerf.. now i have tons of the lessers and only a few greaters 8(
May I ask what group compositions are you guys and gals using for portal farming?
I've been there only with my Havoc Demon Hunters as mentioned in the first post, but I was thinking to zerg the place with 10 protadins, even though they are only at ilvl 804-810 and as tanks they deal very low damage, but they might survive a bit longer with some self heals :)
5 hunters.
Throw volley on and sit in front of portals very easy.
All fun till the silly green circle of death comes my way and i'm not paying attention.

1 bear tank, 2 restoration druids, 6 affliction warlocks and 3 bm hunters. Just because they needed the gear really.
I love the warlock the most for farming.. stupidly strong and the self heals are <3.

5 Prot pals.. easy mode. 860ish GS
Hehe I went there with 10 prot paladins (ilvl range 807-819), and to be honest, the whole time felt like cheating here and there. I have one button macro set up in ISBoxer (basically: cast anything that isn't on cd) and it appears to have great aoe healing and self healing so there is no downtime at all.
I found a spot where three portals kept spawning, greaters and lessers. I kept aggroing all the portals constantly as the IWT melee teams tend to run around a bit. They're also engineers 150+ so looting have never been more fun ;)

Its easy with 5, i can't imagine how easy it would be with 10!

Yeah it's ridiculously funny :) I have hard time finding beacons from the corpses though? It looks like the drop% have been re-nerfed to sheet.. I farmed there yesterday and since it was a raid night for most guilds, Broken Shore surely was a very quiet place.
I read on reddit that after the quest line you can spend 2000 shards for chests, which may contain supplies, AP, and.. more shards and what else.. People have reported that some chest yield whopping 100K nethershards! Well, that's one way to gear one character up to i880+ I just hope they don't make Broken Shore too much of a Timeless Isle.. as it was fun at the start, it got really boring place real soon.

The portals only spawn two rounds of demons now instead of five.
I don't know why these things get nerfed like this :(

It appears there's a maximum extension limit for the portals. I spawned a greater carnage, then popped 10 green carnage beacons to extend it on each of my 5 man team. The portal stayed up the same amount of time as when I just used 1 green carnage on each. Also I tried spreading out the extensions, the portal actually disappeared without spawning any more right after one of my beacons was used. Would be nice if blizzard would provide some kind of concrete information on how this stuff works, a progress bar or something would be nice.

Agreed. I seemed to be getting at least 2 extensions consistently, but yes I've also used a beacon to no effect a few times.
I'm not a fan of sentinax farming tbh, but I felt forced to do it to catch up one of my teams. I think the intent with the faction tagging was to create a highly contested zone on pvp servers, but I suspect server hopping voided that.

Yeah this needs more testing though.. I managed to keep up a portal for quite a long time; First popped up the greater, then a few lesser once in a while, as in one after each wave, and portal just kept pushing mobs..
Once I did the same, that first one greater, and when mobs spawned, I spammed the lesser with same color on all my toons (possibly spent 40 lesser) and I got mobs which spawn rotating wangs that knockback you around, and retarded green circle appeared and that was it. Corpseran back just to notice that portal had gone.. mad much..
Today I might start opening those treasure chests (if the vendor is available after that last quest).. I got 130k+ nethershards for 65 keys O_o

More changes inc. The constant tweaking around nethershards and sentinax is crazytown.

Rewards from the enemies summoned by Nether Portal Disruptors have been changed: These enemies should now drop significantly more Legionfall War Supplies and Dauntless tokens, but no longer drop Netherchunks or Tier 1 Sentinax beacons.
Developers’ notes: We want to make sure that Nether Portal Disruptors and the enemies they attract are lucrative and exciting without overshadowing other options so that players feel inclined to focus only on the Nether Disruptor for Broken Shore play. This should now be a solid extra to add to your activities when it’s available, rather than something to wait around for.

Farming for nethershards is a bit rough now I agree. I imagine down the road they'll lax it further when Tomb comes out due to the ilvl jump.

A bit shame that the mobs from these portals can be tagged only by 5 players, but there's always some workarounds to add multiple tags.. :)
