Level 64 for my Pures and I've got to put them on ICE,

I left my job yesterday, I was going to be redundant anyway as company going into liquidation on Monday. So I'm now unemployed! but the plan is to go freelance with my web design / developing with maybe a part time job to cover the bills until it takes off.. and until the point at which I'm getting a regular income I'm going to have to postphone level 70 :(

It's for the best, they'd only be a distraction as well as a drain on money...

;( No groundbreaking excitement whilst they're in the deep freeze, please!

Well, in any case, finding work is the easiest thing there is. The problem however is finding the work that suits you. xP In dire situations you can always just work wherever temporarily though. :p

Good luck and be back soon!

Been seeing a lot of demand for freelance web dev (css/xhtml/js) and web design in the Northwest recently. Not sure where you're located but if you're in the States I would recommend checking out the craigslist posting for Portland, OR and Seattle, WA as well as some of the techy california cities. I was able to find a number of gigs that were fine with my telecommuting a couple years ago before i landed my full time job; also I keep getting headhunter calls from outfits in Nevada and Philly - so it seems like it might not be a bad time to hit the market.

drop me a PM with some links to samples... i might know a couple of people that could use some snazzy (and not too expensive) web help.
(ever noodled with the templates @ templatemonster.com? easy enough to adjust? some of their flash stuff is way too cool)

also, some links to your graphic design would be good and might help 'sell' it. (i know they like the modern glass/gel look...)

hopefully, you'll be too busy to play.. which is a good problem :D

go to your state's business bureau and start calling places saying you are a web designer looking for work and give them a link to some samples. if they like your work you could get a job.... just something that helped my friend rich get off the ground as a developer.

My two cents - look at this is an opportunity for you to try out and explore some other areas / interests / etc. - might find something completely different that you can/want to do and find yourself with an even better job afterwards. Good luck!

Hey Dan,

Send me an email I might have some work for you. Be sure to include something like a resume which lists your skill sets and experience.

Word!

Would you like fries with that?

J/K =)

Best of luck finding work. There seems to be a fair bit of demand for good web programmers out there.

Thanks for all the support,

I live in the UK, and have 3 1/2 years experience in coldfusion programming, using SQL 2000/2005. Designed and built the following ecommerce websites, plus others.

www.elephantbeanbags.co.uk
www.lasiesta-uk.com
www.metz.co.uk
www.thebigcookshop.co.uk

I generally design from scratch, I feel a greater sense of a achievement for designing every aspect of a site.

I designed and built www.pauseplay.co.uk as my own personal project for fun. But I'm starting considering it as a more serious money making venture.. so i'm redesigning it. There's not much I can do about the actually images that are display for the DVD cases, they are what comes on a feed.

Here's a screenshot of the new DVD site thus far.. (i'm in the middle of coding that page, so things will be changed like the DVD titles and information layout.. plus a nice red button 'prices') Started from scratch using fireworks to design the site.

I am trying to make the site as easy to use as possible, so that's why some might think it looks basic.

Keyclone, Evilseed, once I get a few things sorted setup I will be in touch - thanks.
