Bzyta - 5 Paladins Mythic+ thread.

Hello everyone,

First of all I would like to introduce myself, I currently play 5 man team of prot paladins on Draenor EU Horde.

I tried some mythic dungeons last week and I have done +2 Maw of Souls but I missed timer back then.
Today I did it +4 with Raging and completed timer for 1 chest reward as you can see here on screenshot

I didnt have any wipes, few times 1 or 2 of my characters died on trash and on 3rd boss 1 char.

I also did +2 Darkheart Ticket with 2 chest timer: 23:52 and Neltharion's Lair +2 with 2 chest timer: 23:23

and on normal mythic I have completed all the dungeons just not The Arcway and Court of Stars ( no reputation to enter yet ).


I still have 3 keys left for Vault of the Wardens +2 - x2 and Eye of Azshara +2 from class hall weekly chest this week which I also got legendary from for 1 of my paladins. I will probably skip Eye of Azshara +2 as it was hard even on normal mythic. Will be attempting to do Vault of the Wardens +2 as long as I dont fail on last boss I should be fine, getting knocked out of the platform on 5% and rest of characters follow and boss reset can be annoying sometimes heh :mad:

Anyway I would like to thank Davidmage for the idea of 5 prot paladins, I have seen the videos and got really impressed by him so I decided to make my own team.

I plan on making some videos of my runs in the future.

Sweet! 5 Prots here as well. i have yet to brave all the normal mythics yet. Just been doing stuff as needed for quests.. and i have struggled on the ones ive done ( other than BHT ) a lot. Sounds like your doing well. I suck and i eventually got through Arcway and CoS.. so im sure you will do fine!

It would be especially interesting to see videos of someone with the same 5 paladin setup, since the class specific abilities will make all encounters and how to handle them unique for that class.

Ok so little update:

- Vault of the Wardens +2 - finished 2 times - first time: 29:26, wiped on last boss twice if I remember correctly. second time: 26:35 ( missed 2 chest by 11 seconds :( )
- Darkheart Ticket +3 - finished with 2 chest reward with 22:06 time. Unlucky that I got +5 Halls of Valor key from it :(

Still have a Black Rock Hold +3 key from VotW run which I think I will be trying today or tomorrow, the only part I hate about this dungeon is the stairs where they throw rocks at you... grrrr

Have Neltharion's Lair +4 with Raging which I should be able to do, might need to use Potion of the Old War for Naraxas to burst him down.

Once I finish my Karazhan quest line I will go there as soon as possible :)

I run one of my guys all the way to the top solo..the rocks will stop when one toon gets to the top.

I did Mythic VoW and wiped on the last boss too many times. I couldn't figure out how to NOT get hit by the creeping doom? ( the wall of ghosts ). I finally got it after about an hour of attempts on that one boss..the other bosses were easy as pie!

I am Kahz attuned now..I will probably run it as a solo tank first to get a feel for it. I got 3x EoA Keys 8( .. Used one DHT Key, have one left.

Ah right I forgot that, that I can run with 1 character to the top and then with rest.. good point.

First time I was doing VotW it took me over 1 hour wiping on the last boss untill I learn the mechanics and some rng luck due to creeping doom position, the tricky part I see is the last avatar of shadows in the corner where you go to him while having boss on you after you attack it, you are being knocked away.... and if you face the wrong direction you are gonna get knocked out of platform.

I have EoA +5 and +2 sadly, wont be attempting it, will probably go do it with some pug just to get some loot and maybe upgrade the +2 key for something easy.

I only have one more normal mythic to do to complete all on mythic (Neltharion's lair)

I did MoS+2 and got two chests ( one death on last boss ) 140k DPS on her.

VotW+5 didnt finish timer .. 2% wipe on last boss due to being greedy, tought I can burst her down before Creeping Doom comes, guess I was wrong :) Killed on next attempt
VotW+2 - done with 2 chest ( close to 3 chest - 38 sec too slow)

I got BRH +2 left for tomorrow, rest are EoA and HoV, wont be attempting those but for sure will do BRH and maybe dungeon that comes after this.

Will hit few bosses in Kara aswell, atlaest to kill midnight for mount.

Damn some nice 3 chest times on +2. And VotW +5, that last boss cannot be easy with that scaling. Even more impressive that you almost had it within the timer!

Byz, have you shared your set up? Looks like your doing 200+dps on single target ( looking at your Xav kill ) I see you also use blessed hammer at least on one toon, or all? you using gnome sequencer or? My best single target dps has been in the 180k range, always looking for ways to get it higher!

This time as you can see I was using Potion of the Old War on every boss, I dont use gnomesequencer, just smash my abilities. I try to spam more Avenger Shield so i can get it off on other toons if it resets, and it does a lot, but yes keep it in mind that Potion of the Old War does like 15-20% of my dps on some boss fights, thats a lot. Since gold aint issue I dont mind spending it on pots which i make myself anyway with rank 3. Blessed Hammer on all, I only have round robin to interrupt, aoe blind, stun, taunt ( i almost never use taunt tho :P )

Is blessed hammer best for dps also in your opinion? Because it also has defensive capabilities, so I assumed the dps would be lower to balance it out vs the third talent option.
Also damn your characters are getting geared!
I see you are using some interesting trinkets. Are those from raids? Is there any specific item you can recommend getting?

I tried Consecrated Hammer talent instead few times, but my dps on AoE packs in Mythic+ was just too low, I mean I still could do it but much slower. Blessed Hammer is awesome :)

Yea about gear part im not gonna lie, I can easily farm 100-150k per hour with just herbalism, I just get boost for EN HC with all 5 chars personal loot run ( please no hate :o ) and just trade stuff beetwen myself if its not upgrade for char A but it is for B and C

This trinket is pretty good http://www.wowhead.com/item=139324/goblet-of-nightmarish-ichor and http://www.wowhead.com/item=139320/ravaged-seed-pod does about 4-5% dps on single target, more on AoE for sure. It also gives nice amount of haste, and yes those are from Emerald Nightmare. I think trinket from last boss in The Arcway http://www.wowhead.com/item=137419/chrono-shard is even better, but getting it high ilvl might be hard if u do low lv mythic+.

I will definitely try out blessed hammer. I will have to be more careful to have my consecration up at all times, to gain the benefits from standing in it (which we have to without consecrated hammer talent). Will see how this affects my survivability.

Hehe yeah about the raids, in WoD I actually farmed them on heroic (single player) until all my hunters had the 4-set bonus and a fully upgraded legendary ring. It was not until after that I could beat the last mythic dungeon :P
I'm afraid I will not have very much time to farm herbs and buy boosts, or playing in regular groups single. Those trinkets looks fine, but it's not going to be game changing. Unlike WoD where 4-set and legendary ring was everything.

I might give the trinket from arcway a chance then. But I still hate that damn spider boss, even though I now at least can just ignore the linked players and burn him down in regular mythic..

Edit: Oh yeah i almost forgot. I guess you have all the 3 golden traits? I still have one left, Tyr's enforcer. I guess it's nice for pushing down trash packs faster.

BRH+2 with 3 chest done ( starts at around 1 hr 40 min )

DHT+5 with 1 chest done ( starts at around 2 hr 8 min ) missed 2 chest by 1 minute I think.

Karazhan ( starts at 3 hr 20 min ) cleared all untill Mana Devourer, best attempt 1.8% and then at end of the stream something around 3-4% and servers has went offline. This boss is giving me a headache, I will kill it probably just now when servers goes online again.

I have been saying blessed hammer is best dps choice in that tier.. but i guess people get distracted by me saying how cool it looks as well. It by far the best for AoE and it is also the best for single target, the defensive debuff it gives is just a side benefit for us.Yes sometimes i waste a conc or two because its hard to be in it 100% of the time, but that is rare..and its only when running around. When you start to use BH, you will see that it will hit a boss several times..and if you have to move a bit the hammers are still spinning and doing their damage. Also, when stuff spawns around a boss.. the hammers take care of it most the time without having to switch targets.

I have Arcway+3 key still which I will do next time, EoA+3 which I will just pug to upgrade it maybe for something easy that I can do myself.

Im not experienced in CoS and Arcway dungeons, before that timed CoS run I have done that dungeon only 1 time :( It gave me some trouble.

I think teeming is also the first affix for me this week. It can be an okay affix in some of the dungeons, and some are worse hehe. Will see if I will play any m+ on my paladins, or just play my hunters which I've done for a while now.

So about last boss, fight wasnt really hard, I thought it will be much harder, I find Mana Deverour much harder than last boss tbh, maybe because it took many attempts weeks before to kill it just now. Thanks to @Xeneres for video of last boss, it helped a lot, I didnt have any idea of how the fight looks like, watched video once and it was engouh to figure out what to do, although my movement skills arent as good, im used to use follow rather than strafe, I do lose some dps because of that but thats just how Im used to do it, hope I learn one day how to proper strafe move characters during fight.

I did mess up on p3 with lazer thingy thats why I almost wiped, my main character died but Divine Shield and some heals saved rest and let me nuke the last hp of boss. I saved drums and 2nd pot for p3, pre pot on pull and burn cds.

This week in EU we got Bolstering as first affix and my keys are starting from +6 Im probably gonna do Neltharion's Lair or VotW just for weekly chest, doubt I can make something good out of it with this affix, its quite deadly.

Hmm never seen you around :confused: For Heroic runs I used to pay 200-250k per toon, but that was like 5 weeks ago or so, right now I just go with some friends for free I dont pay anything, I got 1 full mythic clear this Wednesday, done by guild <Pieces> it cost 2.5 milion but they reduced price to 2 milion.

I didnt start mythics that early, I was doing world quests first to gear up I would say around 840+ when I tried some of the easiest mythics and about dps of my chars I cant tell, I simply dont remember.

I remember starting mythics at 828. But that will probably be equal to slightly higher level in current patch. Because in the start the paladin self heal was even bigger than currently, and I'm pretty sure that the dps was higher too then, since there have been nerfs by now. Artifact power will be easier to advance now compared to in early Legion, but that will not outweigh the pre-nerfed tank strength.

Anyway, this means that it doesn't matter when we started doing specific things, and what kind of dps we did, because it's different (harder) now.

Edit: not sure if Bzyta started before or after the first nerf-wave. But I would probably recommend reaching around 840 for a smoother experience in mythics.

Was light of the protector that got nerfed, consecrate heals have stayed the same I'm pretty sure.

It has probably been a couple of changes since release. But the biggest nerf was for sure the LotP. You could pretty much fully heal the whole team on each cast :)

Byzta, I was looking at your Darkheart Thicket +8 video again and wondering what the addon is in the lower right, right above your DPS meter, that is tracking the time and mobs killed. I notice that your Jamba is also tracking the mobs, but personally haven't noticed mine doing this when I've done a few Mythics with other people (perhaps I didn't scroll down. I always have a ton of quests on all my toons).

At your gear level it should be technically possible, and no problem when you have learned to do the encounter mechanics. DHT and MoS are easy for 5 paladins yeah.
I've done DHT level 9 (getting close to a 100% dmg increase there) at around 860-863ish. These 2 instances don't have any complicated boss mechanics which are hard to deal with as a boxer. Last boss in MoS took me a while to learn to not fall down with slaves into the holes. Dresaron in DHT you might want to use steeds to move out of the falling rocks asap, or blow a cooldown. But that's about it. :)

Thanks for the input, guys. I think I'll try and get one done this weekend. I got some good gear yesterday from WQ and a Heroic MoS (including the team's first Legendary), which bumped them up to 840-851.

Its addon called GottaGoFast that you're talking about.

MoS is the best dungeon to get for sure, thats why everyone are looking for keys to boost people so they can farm easy AP that way. Darkheart Ticket is easy too what I find hard sometimes are the flowers before 2nd boss the trash packs sometimes they spawn mushroom under your feet and if you pull too many of them you will get stuck and die if you dont have divine shield or so other big cds. Also I always kill too much trash there for kill count, could've skipped some more but I dont which packs and some as a boxer I cant I guess.

Side note for Paladins, my goal was to do 4 Rets and 1 Prot, and at Ilvl 840-845 I could do Maw of Souls +2 and barely finish within the timer, biggest problem though is dps.
You use Divine storm instead of Templars Verdict, so you sacrifice so much single target damage that through my testing a Prot Paladin team basically does the same exact dps (more so on trash). It didn't feel like I was gaining enough to offset the different. I would compare kill times on Boss fights and the ret team would usually finish 4-7 seconds faster.
Looking at different options now, and potentially using a Holy Paladin instead. The second issue with Ret is that their DPS seems to be burst based and not very good sustained. Looking at warcraftlogs of top tier paladins and their fights, Only when they pop their wings does the dps look great, otherwise it drops into low levels compared to other classes.
I am working on getting a few enhancement shaman as their rotation seems to be easier to hit close to 100% efficiency, and they provide a solid sustained dps throughout the fight.

The biggest pro's though for the Ret team is Blessing of Kings, at my Ilvl you place 4 Kings on your Tank and 2 on each DPS. This gives about an 8% shield absorb for the tank and 4-5% for each ret. It refreshes to full power every 6 seconds. It's truly a massive mitigation of most random damage thrown at you and that combined with Divine storm I can do an entire dungeon without having to heal at all. Word of Glory is used in those emergency situations, but it just further reduces your overall dps.

How do you guys handle Hand of the Protector? I'm very familiar with setting up a single healer to heal a party, but I'm not sure the best way to essentially set up 5 healers to heal effectively.

Yea, while solo playing there are not many people that can beat my prot pally in dps for trash, it's amazing dmg.
