Was going to reply to the thread about targeted spells but this probably deserves it's own thread.

New macro conditions for “reticle” spells: @cursor and @player.

They are how they sound. Guy over on MMO-C posted a video about it.

https://vid.me/xnNr

Massive usage for multiboxing.

Now that's interesting.

First thoughts are healing rain, efflorescence, barrier. Not to mention D&D.

Earthquake totem is targeted now right? And the shaman stun totem.

So many possibilities.

Wow, nice. This will make DnD as easy as consecration.

@target would be the most useful, wonder why that was left out.

It makes me wonder, after 12 years, why they finally decided to add this now?

They likely didn't add @target because they figured some AoE needed to be more 'skilly' than others. Sigh.

This solves my big complaint about my DKs (DnD) though, and now I'm going to finish those Enhance Shaman!

How would the macro line go exactly?

/cast [@player] earthquake totem ?

Would I be able to cast it at any other allied players, or just myself?

Very happy to see this :)

it should drop the totem on you.
No, just yourself with @player.

yep does not show the aoe marking on the floor and just drops it on your self i tried it on ptr today! @target or @otherplayername does not work.

I'm very excited for this and can't wait to test this out when I get home.

it will make juggling Crimson Scourge Procs and DnD CDs on different toons much easier.

I do find that I do not drop DnD as often as I should in the heat of combat.

Nice :)

This has significantly altered how powerful Death Knights are in PvP. Being able to take AMZ and use it consistently and easily has made me, conservatively, twice as durable. Mages and Warlocks as part of a large group are of no concern anymore. Bwuahahhhaha!

Anybody running enhancement shamans? Is rainfall any good? I am envisioning tank + 4 enhance now that dropping the rainfall is trivial.

They had to make sure people can't stand still during fights, rendering those ground effects much less effective, first.

They added AoE loot after SWTOR pioneered it. Now they've added the GTAOE on self that it has. It wouldn't surprise me if it was a competition thing. You want new customers to feel comfortable.

RIFT was release ~9 months before SWTOR and featured AoE looting at release. Later, the macro conditional @GTAE was introduced into RIFT in 2013 (http://forums.riftgame.com/general-discussions/patch-notes/362920-rift-2-3-empyreal-assault-eu-na-8-00am-pt-3-00pm-gmt-6-13-13-a.html), whereas SWTOR looks to have introduced the same tech, almost a year later, in patch 2.7 (http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes/482014/game-update-2.7-invasion).

I imagine RIFT wasn't the first game to feature AoE looting, though, but I could be wrong.

GTAoE via macros (including a "range" parameter!) was something my Runemaster had in DAoC back in what, 2001? Hell, that game even had a /groundassist macro where you could actually assist another person's ground target. :p

Nevermind, I was lied to. :/

So this might work on friendly targets

/cast [@PLAYERNAME] Efflorescence

Anybody running enhancement shamans? Is rainfall any good? I am envisioning tank + 4 enhance now that dropping the rainfall is trivial. right now im running a solo shaman ilvl 853 enhanced. I have been doing a lot of work with him. He is so much fun and huge damage outburst. But if you plan on doing dungeons do ele. Enhanced is still squishy you have to maximize stun rotations and astral shift to stay alive at times. But by doing that i can take on mobs of ten and tear them down rather fast while questing. Yes rainfall is nice as well and now with this macro ill let you know later how it works out.

im trying to use vuhdu as well but when in combat its not dropping it as intended only if its a button pushed still having it up helps mitagate damage alot. Few tests tho 4 enhanced shamans my ilvl at max was only healing for 100k every ten secs per shaman. So thats 400k dps in ten secs. Yes its nice have that but your still gonna need the healing surge instant heals on the tank. Cause you will heal between 1.2 mill and 2 mill every 30 secs. Id run with a tank 3 enhanced and a resto shaman for that oh shit heal lol.

But a tank will be taking the hits and 4x rainfall will be healing up the aoe dmg. Ele doesnt have rainfall

right but even with rainfall its not enough to keep everyone healed. Its a good mitigation but unless you burn them down super fast your gonna need another sort of heal.

Dang. I was talking to my resto mate last night and it seems to be a theme that a lot of the healing has been changed to minor heals but more widespread, so that in a raid environment you need almost every healer aoe healing. Even my tank HoT is healing the same for his rejuv which is jut silly.

Hey I just wanted to say that I have noticed your posts have gotten much better as far as grammar and punctuation from when this message board first started. Nice!

Did any of you encounter problems embedding this new targeting into castsequences?
To me it seems that is messes with the reset option.

Example: /castsequence reset=target spell1, [@player] aoe-spell, null

This macro works just fine for the first time after reload but stays dead after that. Changing the target doesn´t change anything.
I also tested it as a macro directly in WOW but the result was the same.

What's the actually spell, will try testing it here.

The spell I used was Death and Decay
-->

/castsequence reset=target Marrowrend, [@player] Death and Decay, Blood Boil, null
