Hi. I just subscribed to this forum. I am a computer gamer, and I am interested in the synergy product for gaming use.

Primarily I World of Warcraft. I currently have 2 accounts, which I've been playing simultaneously on two computeres. Trying to manage 2 keyboards is a pain and I was hoping this product could help me.

Does anyone use synergy for gaming? Any reviews or advice for me?

Absolutely. Synergy is a great product for multiboxing. I wouldnt box without it. I mainly use it to mouse seamlessly from one computer to another in a multiple computer setup for looting, accepting quests & other general mouse based tasks.

It does have one minor annoying bug, if I try to click too long in 1 area on a secondary computer, that char will spin like a top, until the mouse button is released. There are supposedly work-arounds for this, but I havent gotten anything to work.

Bottom line, it isn't perfect, but it works, & you certainly can't beat the price: FREE!

Is it easy to set up?

Will it cause a lot of lag?

Anything I need to have systemwise before I delve in and try it out?

FYI, Octopus has the same base functionality (I think, don't kill me if some minor thing is different :P) for using multiple machines, plus is has keyboard and mouse broadcasting functions as well for your multiboxing pleasure. Not the easiest to set up but not much more complicated than synergy, and it doesn't have the mouse spin bug. ;)

Best of luck!

FYI, if you're having problems with spinning on Synergy, try the program "Multibox". I had spin issues using mouse-span on Synergy but Multibox didn't have that problem. I still have a hardware mouse for each PC but if I'm doing quick looting/etc I don't get throwin into an accidental spin if I mis-click. Multibox doesn't have the fancy layouts that Synergy does -- it assumes all of your monitors are the same resolution.

I've been trying Multibox for the last few days and yes its great that it doesnt have the mouselook crazyness that Synergy has. However I have noticed that the Server component seems to terminate quite frequently and have to be restarted.
