So I am just getting my team into dungeons where I need to pay attention to the party, MoP, and I keep having issues with my guys following me into puddles of stuff and dying.

The only way I know to break follow is to broadcast and then move backward but that seems really clunky and if I forget to turn of broadcasting, I am screwed.

How do you all break follow to position your team?

I setup a hotkey on SHIFT+S to step them all backwards.
Others use a formation, like Flying V.

Basically, setup a new hotkey (mapped key on ISBoxer), that broadcasts a movement key, or some other action that breaks follow, to all your followers. That way it is always there and you aren't enabling full broadcasting unnecessarily (or forgetting to disable it again).

I don't use broadcast to move. What I do instead is have 3 keymaps. Movement-Range, Movement-Tank, Movement-All.

Movement-Range is up / down / left / right (alt)
Movement-Tank is up / down / left / right (shift)
Movement-All is up / down / left / right (ctrl)

As the names imply if I hit ctrl+left the entire team jumps to the left. If I hit alt+up the ranged characters jump forward, etc.

To do this you need:

3 Keymaps for the 3 mentioned.
2 Action Target Groups - tank and ranged.

Then in each keymap you have mapped keys for up / down / left / right. With the appropriate actions of up / down / left / right followed by jump ( spacebar ). These actions should target the specific ATGs you want. For the one that does all you can just use option for that.

From that point you can bind to your normal movement keys. I am left handed so I use the up/down/left/right keypad next to the number pad. Then just practice with encounters knowing who needs to be moved and when.

Oh and there is no need for a movement map for the melee. They'll follow right along with the tank.

Some of the spells used will auto break follow.
Channeled spells, and any melee auto swings will instantly break follow.

That was something that plagued me until I figured it out.

Thanks guys, I figured it out. Just made a movement key, but I am getting into formations more so I might modify it some.
