So a couple weeks ago I RAF'd myself and decided to try out dual boxing. I asked what programs were free and allowed to use in WoW, and one of the programs recommended was hotkeynet. So I downloaded it, read a quick start guide that gave me a script to download. I really don't know anything about scripting so after a couple tweeks I moonfired 2 druids to lvl 13 and gave up until I had more time to mess with it. Yesterday morning I played for about an hour, then played dying light for the rest of the day, went back to do my dailies on WoW last night and found out I had a 48 hr suspension for "Unapproved Third Party Software".

Someone said that it might be something in the script, so thought I might post it here and maybe someone else can shine some light whether this could be the problem or not.

// everything else with HotkeyNet.)
//
// Requires HotkeyNet build 147 or higher.

I am not too hurt by the 48 hr suspension, but I really don't want something more severe to come of this and especially when I don't even know why I have recieved it. I did appeal it but I am expecting a copy paste response.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. But I have to share my doubt on this one: There is nothing in the pasted HKN script (this is almost a straight copy/paste from something you found here, right?) that would get you suspended, and they don't scan for HotkeyNet. That is to say, they do scan for things, and they do suspend people as a result of those scans. But not HotkeyNet.

When they ban for unapproved third party software, it is often weeks after the fact. They want you to be moderately unsure of yourself and point the finger in the wrong direction; they are able to conceal some of their methods by doing so. I am just going to guess that prior to grabbing HotkeyNet, you tried something else -- that you didn't find all over dual-boxing.com. If not, then I am sure your appeal will go fine, as there are plenty of people using HotkeyNet with a script that looks nearly identical to the one you pasted... and mistakes are of course made from time to time.

The rest of us here have no information to go on though. Good luck!

Well it has been about a week since I have used it. Only used it one night. It was during the double honor week and wanted to gear up some toons so didn't want to mess with learning this at the time. It was also the only program I have downloaded for it. I did look into isboxer since I've heard of it alot on the WoW forums, but since I was only planning on boxing during the 3 month RAF program I didn't want to pay for a years worth and that's when I found these forums, which someone then pointed me to HKN. I can see where the doubt comes from, I would doubt this too if I seen it and had been using the program for a while before that. It really makes no sense to me. One of the annoying things is I watched an undeniable bot farm eggs one day last week for over 10 hours (I logged a char there to check on them every hour or so), reported them a couple different times along with other people that were there when I logged in sometimes, and now here I am getting a suspension while they are probably still botting away...

$15 for 90 days :) That's beside the point though

Coincidentally, about 2 threads down from this one is a thread regarding a current WoW suspension wave for bots: http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/52596-WoW-WoW-suspends-bots-does-not-ban-them

Well the suspension is upheld, and I know most people won't believe that I haven't botted or used any other programs, but be warned if you want to use hotkeynet, because it's the only possibility of why I was suspended. So it is now gone off my computer and my 2nd account will be wasted because I'm not going to chance another program. My original account is almost 11 years old and it's not worth the risk of getting something more serious.

The thing is, if you were banned for HKN, there'd be a whole bunch of people around here reporting the same thing.

Are you at a college campus using a shared computer? Someone might have something installed on the computer you were using. Have you ever had your gold stolen? Its also a possibility you have malware installed.

In any case as others have mentioned, it sounds like you were caught up in the ban wave that just happened, so there was something similar between you and the others. Either your actions or software running in the background.

Your ban is already over but you can probably still get the mark removed from your account if you get the right GM on the right morning after he's had his coffee. Those that deal with it are very busy right now, try again in a couple days.

You don't get 48 hrs for 3rd party programs unless the GM made a mistake. It should be 72hrs Final Warning.
As far as I know, AHK & HKN do not edit game files thus would not come in to the 3rd party programs that would get caught by Warden.
They would however have the ability to make your character run around by itself, I'd imagine massive scripting, but possible. Not that script you pasted there for sure.
Getting actioned for third party programs at the moment and NOT getting a 72 hr, 6 months or perma ban definitely means a game master did you IF it was infact for third party programs, which I still doubt.
So I will flat out say it, you were not suspended for HKN. You have either gotten lucky and were given 48 instead of 72 for using a proper bot or you got 48 hrs for some serious bad behaviour/language.

This seems pretty odd. There's got to be more to this story.

If you didn't toy with botting or automation and this is indeed the script you're using, it's not erroring, and you aren't sharing your pc, I'd say it might be time to check your computer's security.

i know 3 players using hotkeys and have been fine. so this is not a automation ban as such

your accounts could of been hacked though or your using something else like that does dps rotations for you

Are you using Gnome Sequencer or one of the macro extenders?

Why would GS be the problem? It doesn't violate any policy.

Macro extenders have been around for years.

I just created an account on here to spread the word about this possibility also, I just received a ban/suspension for unauthorized third party software yesterday. I use hotkeynet also, and the same default script for keybroadcasting they provide. I've only gotten copy/paste responses from support.

Along these lines, I have had HKN on my computer from way back when I tried to box with that, and opted to just resub my ISBoxer, and for the last couple weeks I have been having a file on my desktop with a blue icon and HKN graphic named upd1.exe self install and norton automatically flags this file and deletes it every computer restart. It may be that HKN was compromised and now contains malware, though not bot worthy for wow but malware that phishes for your account info or what have you. I don't use it so I'm not too worried, but I am going to post a screen on the norton community at some point later tonight to ask how to remove auto installers for this file or others, and how to find them, cause its popping up every time I turn on my computer. Pretty annoying but harmless in the end though.
