Who's in, and what servers should we dink around on? My vote is for Old Man Cho, so Vecter will have people to nap with.

It looks as if the most populated server in NA is going to be Mushin. I don't know what that means exactly for where I'll be rolling, but I'm not going to Old Man Cho. :)

Yeah I have been reading around and mushin looks to be the hot spot for now. Old Man Cho seems to have a lot of RP'ers planning on going there so yeah I too am not really wanting to go there... unless I can be a pirate ninja.

Hmmm, reading that last article you linked I am struck by "iksanun is one of the most balanced servers in terms of factions". If that holds true that makes it an interesting choice. Economy is cross realm so server choice is for guilds and grouping, if that's the case the potential long queue times of the top 1-2 servers may be worth it, unless we get enough peeps to blaze our own trails.

For anyone else that may be interested, the game will be free to play at launch. The founders packs you can buy now will go away, they just give quality of life improvements (in-game store currency, character slots, costumes, name reservation), and it also gives you a jumpstart with premium points. As you get more points, getting a paid subscription gives you more and more benefits: http://www.bladeandsoul.com/uk/news/premium-membership/

There will be no content gating for the free to play people (as of now).

Fun Fact - Names are region unique, so if you get a name you will be the only one in your region with it (NA or UK)

Blue is cool.

Yeah, my observations during CBT's was that the red side was all about owPvP and anarchy and isntaFun, and the blue seemed to have more people looking for groups and running content, and that aligns a bit more with what I am looking for. Obviously shit can change at launch, but we will see.

You can actually change factions whenever you'd like with just a little bit of money, but you lose all of the progress that you put into that one faction, as well as your guild. Besides guilds being tied to factions I don't know exactly what else you will lose outside of some faction quest rewards, but because it's a Korean game I'll assume that you shouldn't be changing unless you really have to/want to.

So Mushin Cerulean Order? we joining an existing guild or forming one?

I have no idea what class to play though! I like how summoners abilities sound, but a ferocious pussy cat is your pet lol!

That seems to be the plan. I imagine we'll be joining one, as I have no desire to lead a guild in a game that I'll be playing casually to start off with. Also, keep in mind that you can't even create/join a guild until about level 16 at the earliest, so depending on how quickly you can get things done, it might be a few days before that can even happen.

I played both Blade Master and Force Master in the Korean version, so I'll likely be sticking with them for now. There's also a Blade Dancer that I want to check out.

I also won't be playing all that much right at launch because I'm not a big fan of zones that are heavily populated with people all fighting over the same quest mobs, so I'm going to create some new characters, play through the intro-starter area, and then wait a few days, maybe a week, before I start up. I just feel like it'll be a much better use of my time. :)

EDIT: I totally forgot that if you bought a founder's pack you get a head start, so I might as well utilize some of that time before all the F2P people show up.

I played the blade dancer in the Korean version a couple years ago, it was fun but after my wife got tired of translating everything for me, I was too lazy to do it myself and moved on to other things. It is a really fun game though. similar to Tera, pretty much same same Korean game :)

Got my names. Mushin: Batman the KungFu Master and Black Widow the assassin.

Just like MiRai I will be getting through the starter zone and then a few more levels during head start, and then after that launch week because everyone will be playing when they get home from work/school in the evening I will probably wait until like Saturday morning to hop back in.

What classes did you make Lyonheart?

Crum1515

Actually I will probably spend the launch week getting all the names, and all the toons out of the start area haha. And use head start to get Batman goin

Long queues on our server of choice! ( 1800 atm for me )

MiRai
01-15-2016, 08:43 PM
So, it would seem that a few things have changed so far since I last played the Korean version, and one of those is that you get to choose your faction at like level 6 now. I went Cerulean Order as planned. I'm currently level 15.5 as I type this out, and I while I'd like to get close to level 20 tonight, I may have some other things to do.

Also, this game at 4K is eating my GPU alive, and it doesn't support SLI (just another downside to SLI, at times). -_-

Long queues on our server of choice! ( 1800 atm for me )
The problem might be that there is no auto-kick AFK timer, so once you're in you don't ever get kicked out unless you log out or your game crashes. I've no idea why there are still games that don't have this, but... I may take advantage of it myself overnight. :)

However, I had a 800+ queue earlier and after a few minutes I was magically in the game, so I don't know if the numbers they're reporting are entirely accurate. /shrug

Crum1515

I am still level 1, WHOOP WHOOP. My sister is in town for another day so I may just get out of starter zone this morning and then tomorrow try and make it as far as these shoes will take me.

I see lots of raging about the SLI on various fan forums, I hope they add that support in soon. Most people who force it get less FPS :/

I tried all night to get on our server..no luck! but i did not try until prime time. going to try this morning before i go to work.

Crum1515

Yeah I am trying to get in now, but the queue is only going up for me. started at like 60th in queue, I am now almost 500th.

Lyonheart
01-16-2016, 11:16 AM
I think it shows the queue of how many are currently trying to log in.. but your position in that queue is not displayed. But im guessing there are many people who are doing what Miri said and stay logged in all the time. I made a summoner on Poharan and got right in. ( Zeltar ) I wish more races could be summoners, even the males look like girls..but thats ok, they are fun so far ( level 3 ). I love the glide skill!

Keep this thread updated with your ongoing reviews. Sounds fun but I didn't want to drop a bunch of $$ on a founders pack if I got bored in a few months. :)

Well, this game has had plenty of time (years) to gain hype over here in the US, and as far as I know, there's only one server at this point (Mushin) with any sort of queue. I don't know if queues on other servers will re-appear once the F2P players start coming online, but if you're a premium member then you get to pass them up in queue.

There was also a large calling for people to stay on Mushin since it was one of the original CBT servers, and a lot of people kept talking about how they were going to stay there once the game was live. Mushin at this point is probably going to be a premium only server since there is still currently a 1000+ person, 3-hour queue at this point and it's only premium members--F2P players would probably never get in if it stays like this.

However, this still doesn't change the fact that there is no auto-kick AFK timer, so anyone can just sit in the game for days on end and take up spots on the server. If they ever get around to implementing an auto-kick AFK timer then you can expect the queue to be much, much lower.

I'm pretty sure the game officially launches in a few hours, and when that happens the founder's packs go away. The game has been out for a few years over in Asia, so there's plenty of information about it floating around if you're looking for more.

People have been playing the F2P versions in Taiwan, China, and Japan with sub-par English patches for awhile now (the Korean version is still subscription-based, I believe), and this is where the hype for the game comes from since it was easy to access it while it was only available in Asia.

OK I'm lvl 11 or 12 or something, i went back to summoner that I played in KR, as I didn't like the melee classes I tried.

Do we have a group set up? A guild?

My summoner name is "Miss Wrathy" someone say hi and play with me! :)

NCSoft seems to have finally applied the auto-kick AFK timer, so we'll likely see queues begin to drop for F2P players (although the premium queue on Mushin has been pretty low lately now that people seem to just be logging off like normal).

https://forums.bladeandsoul.com/topic/150530-hotfix-1202016/

I've been trying to piece together things for my next video or two, so I've been sitting at level 25 for two days just repeatedly doing the profession stuff since, at the early stages, it doesn't require anything except talking to NPCs every 30-60 minutes.

As I said before, I'm not looking to lead or manage anyone in a game I won't be playing 100% of the time, so I'm looking to join a clan that:

1) Doesn't require you to be active every single day of the week
2) Isn't named something dumb like "Funsie Pants" or "Shoguns of Jadestone"
3) Doesn't require you to be logged into their voice chat program just to talk to people outside of dungeons/raids

My summoner name is "Miss Wrathy" someone say hi and play with me! :)
I did a search for "Wrathy," but you must have been offline (or not on Mushin).
Never mind, I see you. You're offline. :)

Here are some tips and tricks I have learned, some may be obvious but hey let's be real, I am not that intelligent.

1) - Game option fullscreen makes it windowed fullscreen, alt+enter to put it to true full screen
2) - To fuse soul shards, the soul shards have to be of similar level, so if you out level an area and move on to bigger and better shards, just salvage the old ones
3) - it may feel like you have too many weapons and accessories in your inventory but trust me, its not enough. My recommendation is to drop/vendor anything that is asking you to use a key to open it, except stuff needed to evolve. Keep all the loose weapons that are just unidentified. don't identify them, they work just the same when evolving your weapon
4) - field bosses drop the items to spin the regional wheels, you can get costumes, weapons needed for evolutions, soul shards. its worth farming them for a bit just to get the weapons/items used to upgrade your weapons.
5) - the auto point distribution system is great, but be aware that as you level and get more skill points when you run the auto system it will sometimes completely change your build and redistribute points, make sure you see what it changed and adjust accordingly, some of your skills may not work the same
6) - get the +health on crit gem early on, it helps out a ton with down time, later on its less noticeable
7) - use the cross realm dungeon if you don't have any friends on, its fast and easy (once you figure out what to do ;)
8) - threat is based on damage, KFM and BM have abilities that increase threat, so if you are in a group ask them if they are tanking, if they are, let them get the first hit in, then go balls to the chin
9) - level your crafting/gathering as you level, its a time consuming pain to do it when you are "back tracking" or trying to level it quickly
10) - salvage gems you don't want/need. the dust is used to make more. and you can even use lower tier gem dust to make higher tier gems
11) - you can find gem dust in treasure chest
12) - treasure chest use your keys, with no prompt (I burned through like 20 keys grinding a dungeon and didn't realize it
13) - save your weapon/accessory xp boost stones, they are worth much much more xp in the 3rd/4th evolution series and beyond (10 levels to an evolution series)
14) - when fighting a boss they don't stun/daze/knock down/ect like normal mobs. when someone hits them with that ability it fills a little 2 bar meter under their name,. and other people need to use the same status inducing abilities to finish filling the meter and then it will enter that state. so keep an eye out and when someone does one, try and follow up
15) - money is hard to come by, when you complete a quest there is an option sometimes to turn it in while still out in the field, that cost money
16) - it cost extra to craft and gather in the field, both place an order and pick up
17) - change channels often when grinding questing to find un touched lands full of mobs if you want to go solo, invite people if they are killing your mobs and you don't wanna move channels
18) - do the dungeons, and the dailies. you can get stones for the vendors, keys (regional and general), money, and lots of XP
19) - if you have an asus motherboard, and problems with delays of abilities in game, disable any traffic shaping|killerNIC type software running, it was murdering my ping, and this game is very very very ping dependent in my experience
20) - does not support SLI at this time, uses CPU mostly for me, but not as much as I expected
21) - dungeons come in like 2,4,6,and up version. 2's are the common found everywhere ones. 4 and 6 are the "real" dungeons. 6 man is meant and tuned to be easier than 4 man. the "raid" are like 24 I think, and its not your normal dungeon, its like a daily zone that can only house 24 people per an instance. when you go to blackram narrows the first time, the purple zone goes to the 6 man side, the white(?) one goes to the daily instance

I have more but I gotta go to work.
