View Full Version : 2.4 might mean tougher Honor grind

Hello all,

Just some thoughts:

In 2.4 they are matching up gear levels to keep players in BGs similarily geared, so the game is more skill based.

Queue times for Raid Premades are quite long, as the system needs to match up the Premade's gear to another Premade in queue. These times can be up to 30 mins for AB/WSG/EotS.

You cannot raid queue AV.

Using Stinky Queue in AV will almost never result in your raid being queued in the same BG, as it will take the better geared players and put them in this BG and the undergeared players into this other BG.

Using 2-3 groups queueing with Stinky Queue or Co-ordinated Vent queueing to skirt the Premade Queue times for non-AV BGs will almost always result in your groups being placed into different BGs, again because of the Gear Matching system.

The only thing to prevent this seems to be to make sure each group queueing in the above manner has similar gear between the groups. Mix and Match the well geared with the undergeared.

All the above is bad for Multiboxers because:
1. You will pretty much almost always have to put up with PuGs on your 4-5 box team.
2. PuGs do not fully understand how to play with a Multiboxer, are not familiar with Multiboxers weaknesses and how to support them.
3. PuGs create problems with morons following you around, Raid leaders not putting your team into the same group, chat spam instead of doing something constructive, etc...

If you normally PuG it anyways, then this patch is good for you. You will seldom run into Premades from here on, as I can't see any group of people who form a Premade for fast Honour waiting for half an hour to enter their BG.

If you are just starting out with PvP at 70 and are in Greens and Blues, you will be delighted by the ease of melting faces en masse in all the BGs, as you run into mages with only 5khp, warriors with 8khp and warlocks who are still specced 41+ Affliction. However, this euphoria only lasts until you do your Arenas and your entire team is almost completely decimated by a single warrior.

I don't know if this is good or not for that majority of you, but I dislike the fact that I can't be carried through EotS with my geared out PvP guild :(
It's not even that they have gear, but that I can't join a BG with 10 others who are on Vent with me and know what Multiboxing is!

They made diminishing returns for honor kills cap at 50 kills. So you can gain more honor in a BG than before 2.4

Sorry for not clarifying the QQ portion:

Playing against even geared opponents is more then fine.

Being forced to play with strangers whom you have no connection with, is where the heart of the QQ lies.

So yeah, its more that I can't play with the people I've been wanting to PvP with since I started this little project, unless I want to wait 30 mins.

I like the changes. I always pug. If I'm only boxing 1 toon I can gets tons of honor now. for 5 boxing I still do k. Key is to play more def and and get more kills for more honor.

I'm curious, where did you get the gear matching idea? And why would it matter at all... I can bypass it in 30 seconds or less. Strip naked. If that doesn't work, load up your inventory with Twill.

I've only Q'd a very few times to AV since the patch, but each time it was 2 groups Q'd at the same time and within 2 minutes we were in the same AV. The first group was primarily T5 geared players and the 2nd group was blue/green geared players, no problems getting the same AV.

I tried a premade once and before the BG even got started the guy threw a fit cause i was multiboxing and kicked me without even seeing what I can do. Every since then i've been pugging it and its all about a 95% loss rate on my battegroup for horde. Now that 2.4 has dropped my 5 box group usually gets raid leader pos and I setup a nice def at choke where we seem to be pulling out wins 50% of the time.

I'm lovin this patch.

my guild always does that when we join as group for any BG, it garauntees we end up in the same BG and I can assure you it doesnt circumvent the gearing that I can see because we have still gone up against full S3 premades before but it just makes the Q-engine or what have you think we are all geared the same way thus putting us in the same Q. However, we dont do AV as a group, it just isnt as fun we shine in AB and WSG though.

You might want to change your title then. Sounds like a QQ about BG honor farming taking longer.

I would have to agree - I get BG leader in almost every BG i go in. And when you're multiboxing 5 shams, that means you can place them in the same group without any problem. This is a welcome change from previously having to ask the BG leader to do it for you and being ignored most of the time.

I was in the same situation in the Ruin Battle Group - pre 2.4 Horde lost almost all the AV's I was in, now it seems to be about 50% as well. But the great thing is the honor for kills. In BG's I tend to follow where the action is and I end up with a crap load of kils...which usually means 500+ honor (apart from bonus honor) each AV.

It's all good!

Cheers,

im curious... what makes it more likely in 2.4 to get group leader? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I think joining as a group gives you preference for raid leader, so if you are the only one that joined as group then your group leader will get raid leader.

I didnt realize the change with lead, but I see that I am often getting leader in BG now on my multibox team. That alone makes this patch a win in my eyes.

Blizzard has stated several times that the gear matching system checks your bags and bank in addition to what you're wearing. Stripping naked or putting on greens does nothing.

So basically, 5 naked Tauren shaman's with all their gear sharded (5% health bonus, woo), should destroy any other naked class with all sharded gear :)

I just trawled through three pages of search results at Bluetracker, and couldn't find anything to suggest that they check your bank.

What I have in my bank is totally irrelevant to how I perform in Battlegrounds and shouldn't be considered in any way, shape or form.

Could you post a reference if you get a sec?

Cheers.

Basically when you queue it's going to check all of the gear you own, average out how good the gear you have is, and then assign you a number.
That doesn't explicitly say the bank, but surely implies it. What is in your bank IS relevant, because you can use it. What would be interesting is whether or not it checks gear by spec. Like say my paladin has a full S2 healing set, but I'm ret speced atm and want to go in with my all blue ret set. Which does it use?

This is all I could find for now, I guess they hadn't said it as strongly as I thought. 8)
