Devilian is currently live, so I'm moving this out of the beta forum. Also, this is not a thread for software support for Devilian. Theorycrafting? Sharing ideas/images/video? Sure. Looking for assistance because you're having issues launching the game with whatever software you're trying to play it with? Devilian is currently in open beta until 10PM PST on the 6th of December. Early access head start begins on 12/8, and the game goes live on 12/10.

Trion just announced (I guess at PAX) that they're bringing Devilian to North America. It's a Korean dungeon crawler similar to D3 and it looks kinda cool. I haven't gotten a chance to watch a lot of YouTube footage of the Korean version, but here's some party play from Steparu (a more intense fight starts at ~4:00):

It apparently also offers PvP, so I'm wondering if they'll allow us to multibox it, even with some minor restrictions (like no PvP or something). Also, no character collision which is nice. :)

Just to bump this...

Trion has been sending out CBT invites, and I got one of my accounts in. I toyed around with the Korean version for a bit before they, I guess, either shut it down or no longer made it F2P, so I'm familiar with some of the game, and its mechanics, in the beginning. I'm hoping that I'll get another account in sooner than later, and then I can test out the ability to multibox this game.

Has anyone else signed up for beta?

Just signed for the beta myself , game looks very good but being a Trion/new game they more then likely won't allow multiboxing sadly (my opinion anyways).But who knows , was watching some vids on it and I seen where they have a 10 man raid.

I will also say that the game has slightly slowed down now that I've reached level 20, but hopefully I can hit 30 tomorrow (cap is 52 in open beta). Still no word from Trion if we're actually allowed to multibox the game, so... /shrug. I'll post something on their forum tomorrow to see what they say.

Just got setup in Devilian today. Running 3 Berserkers (http://imgur.com/GvgmhfS). Considered Cannoneers, but something about semi-naked 10-year-olds as my characters just does not work. We'll see if the choise of melee will be the ruin of me.

No previous experience boxing action RPGs and limited experience with them in general, so this is fairly interesting. :P

You said you haven't multiboxed any other action RPG, so you can't compare, but I would assume that you picked the most difficult class out of them all to start off with. :) I imagine that non-ranged classes are either going to take additional damage because you always need to be right up front, or more difficult creatures are going to take longer to kill because you're going to be trying to dodge everything, rather than sitting back with ranged and nuking from a distance.

To be fair, I don't know how "direct" the Berserker abilities are, and they could all just be AoE abilities with no requirement to be facing the right direction. The only reason I was really able to tank anything with my Evokers is because I eventually got that heal (although I have no idea if it actually stacked or not--never tested it).

edit: on my first adventure into PvP.. it appears you can not queue for "arenas" as a party or raid? is all instanced pvp random groups? that sucks.. There is outdoor pvp to some extent, confirmed?

Err... Did they just change their stand on multiboxing? Stumbled upon this post on their forums (http://forums.deviliangame.com/showthread.php?12669-Multiboxing-eu-seadrift&p=44746#post44746), and it would appear clicks/commands being sent to multiple windows simultaneously is infact an issue.

I don't know, but it doesn't sound good. It's always confusing when they first say things such as, "just like in our other games," because multiboxing in RIFT with third-party software is allowed, but in a game like ArcheAge, it is not (for probably a good reason). She said that they discussed it on their livestream, but does anyone have that link?

It's always frustrating when I read, "must be controlled without the use of any third party software," but then in the next line define it as, "automation software and unauthorized third party software." Like... is there a list of authorized third-party software? :confused: Unfortunately, the line after that about "manipulating multiple characters," while still open to interpretation, probably seals the deal.

sound clear to me.. but I still think its stupid that they allow multiboxing BUT not an effective means to do it. A game like that is not going to be boxed effectively "independently"

You just multibox Dungeons so nobody will see you doing it, there is only a problem when people see you moving around in public and report you.
I feel very stupid spending money to get the Husky on my 3 Chars...

i cant imagine play devilian with only 1 account since this would simplify the game its just plain booring...

GW2 did this also.. they really are only allowing you to have multiple accounts for things like trading - not playing them all at once.

I didn't think they would allow boxing unless they found a way to stop it in pvp like Rift.

@Flexiflo they are very good & if you email them and explain the situation I'm sure they would give you a refund on the Husky's you got.

Might be a problem cause i bought everything with my main and gifted it to the alts... cause steam wallet on mainaccount...
I explained it to GM and asked if i get banned for multiboxing before the clear statement this morning.

I spent like 600$ all in all for all 3 chars - and now its all gone if i cant play them 2gether... i might ask if they could merge them

The question is whether the third-party software is both unauthorized and "designed to modify the Game experience".

2.f.

use any unauthorized third-party software that intercepts, “mines,” or otherwise collects information from or through the Site, Account(s), Game(s) (including Game-related Virtual Items, if any), Game Client(s) and/or the Service, including without limitation any software that reads areas of RAM used by the Game(s) or the Service to store information about a character or the game environment; provided, however, that Trion may, in its sole and absolute discretion, allow the use of certain third party user interfaces;

In this section they specifically carve out unauthorized software that "reads areas of RAM used by the Game(s) or the Service to store information about a character or the game environment". (Not really related to multiboxing.)


But here's the real problem. The Devilian team is referring to the same Terms of Use that applies to RIFT. The RIFT team specifically reiterated last year, after Archeage came out with its no broadcasting stance, that multiboxing with broadcasting is allowed in RIFT. The Devilian team should be clear that this is a game policy and not a blanket Terms of Use issue, because if we agree that it is allowed in RIFT, and the Terms of Use applies to RIFT, then we must assume that the software is not "unauthorized" for the purpose of the ToU.

so ok i asked if they could refund my stuff to my main account, then a new GM contacted me and asked what accounts and what items need to be refunded.
I explained it to him and now i guess its in process :)
