Anyone have good results with an all mage team?

How do you handle melee attackers? When I play a solo mage I use blink a lot. But that doesn't work well with a team.

Results in doing what ?

5 Mages will blow almost anything up casting 5 Supernova's. They would be a good rep grind aoe farming team but as far as trying to do Heroics or current stuff id say you will need a Tank and Healer with you.

I have a 3 Arcane mage + Prot War + Disc priest team that are all about 660 ilvl but my other team is a lot stronger which is Prot War + Disc Priest + 3x BM Hunters.

Guess I didn't create a good subject title for this thread. I'm wondering if anyone has an all mage team that isn't large enough to nuke everything and requires some defensive maneuvers. I'm interested in hearing how to handle the defense.

I know mages are not a good choice for a team that needs defense. I'm still leveling up my hunter team and expect that to be more effective. Trying to figure out if I should forget the idea of a small mage team or just need more know how to make it feasible.

What defense? In my experience, mage teams have 5 stages of gear:

1) Impossible, I quit.
2) Oops, I sneezed during a trash pull. 43rd wipe tonight. /grumble
3) I hate spending this much money repairing purples.
4) I'm glad the wife is asleep...this is embarrassing.
5) Wow...with this much gear things just melt. Easysauce!
