Hello here,

I'm sure you are aware of that, but the best way to gain Paragon XP is not always to chain the highest GRs. I wanted to be certain, and I put numbers on that.

For each GR done, I checked XP before and after on all 4 characters, and did it 2-3 times for each GR level, then rounded the results... I took note when entering the GR, and then after I talked to that whats-his-name-again dude in town. By the way the XP reward given by that guy is not multiplicated by your XP bonus. But the XP inside the GR for killing stuff is.

Here is the chart.

+41% is just wearing a red gem in head socket.
+79% is a red gem in a Leoric's Crown with >95% bonus.
+104% is the same with +25% from a yellow pool assuming I didn't die during the rift.
+175% is a red gem in a Leoric's Crown with >95% bonus, yellow pool bonus active, Focus and Restraint removed and replaced by Hellfire ring and Leoric's ring (which is at least a 50% dps loss).


Now obviously, the best GR for my team is GR 37-38, where can't die except maybe on Cold Snap...

HOWEVER

I have been pushing GR levels yesterday, and this is when I gained some superior loot, like 4 Serpent Sparkers (including 2 ancients)... Some Tal Rasha amulets... I haven't seen a single one of those during the 2 last weeks, when I was farming. This can't be a coincidence... but I haven't read anything talking of better loot with higher GR anywhere ?

I wanna do the same but 3 GR are too few to get results. Will take me a lot of time to gather that data I guess. I'm doing also GR37 right now for exp.

Finally got time to do some EXP testing on my own. My results differ a lot in terms of numbers and variance, but I end up also finding GR37-39 are the best for exp.

I couldn't find anywhere an scaling table for GR exp in 2.2.1. There's info about about monster health and damage scaling but nothing about exp. According to a post in reddit, it's 8% per GR level so, if I go below 5 levels and use a Leoric's Crown with a Ruby, I should get roughly the same experience per rift. Decided to test with GR41 where the shards cap at 250 and GR37 cause that's what I had and was too lazy to do 10 more trials to get 36's. Tried 10 runs on each and these were my findings:

In average I do GR41 in 3 minutes 39 secs while I do GR37 in 2:47. Now, exp doesn't seem to be 8% per GR. I should be getting more at GR37 than at GR41 but it's actually less. This could be because its more than 8% per level or just that the test was not reliable in the sense that at GR37 I kill elites extremely fast and picked up far more purple globes, getting to the RG faster. Meaning, I was killing a LOT less trash than at GR41 where I skipped more elites.

Regardless, I'm getting 20%+ more exp per hour doing 37s than 41s. If I have pools of reflection, I should be doing around 40b+ per hours which is very good. Far better than GR41 where there's always the risk of dying and losing pools and time.

I'm using these 2 builds:

2 barbs with the first in a 10 sec round robin of War Cry (Impunity + Hardened Wrath) and 2 bars with the second build in a 5 secs round robin for Threatening Shout.

Something to keep in mind is that if u are killing stuff too fast, completely skip elites or just don't pickup purple gloves in order to kill more trash. If density sucks, pickup all purple gloves to finish the rift ASAP.

Also, I get 9+% more shards per hour but less legendaries.
