Hey, I have wondered about what use the skull, triangle etc could have in multiboxing, i didn't realise you could actually use them in that way.

How do you have it setup to work with those?

thanks

With my 1st main being a Hunter, it's good to know that it could work out multi-boxing them.

BTW, love the Pet Names! :P

In your keybindings, set your leader a button for each "assign circle/triange/square/etc".

On each follower, set ONE of those buttons to "/focus" -- in the HD version you can see they also report who they're focusing in /party chat.

On my main's /petattack macro, I use a little line at the bottom of my macro that says: /script SetRaidTargetIcon("target", 8); ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Raid_Target_Icon#API') -- this sets my main's pet target to always have a skull on top of it's head.

The lucky charms really do nothing -- they're a visual aid for me to tell which of my characters are /focusing which targets, since I use /focus to assign pet targets for offtanking.

Let me dig up my macro list for these guys -- it's really not too difficult since they're only level 23. :P

Velaii's (alt hunter) Macros

Attack macro -- button "1" on my video.

#showtooltip

/stopmacro [noharm][dead]

/target [target=focustarget,harm,nodead][target=party1target,harm,nodead]
/stopmacro [noharm][dead]
/castsequence reset=combat !Auto Shot, , , , Concussive Shot
/cast !Auto Shot

Feed pet macro (mend pet if in combat) -- button CTRL= (upper right corner) in my video:

#showtooltip [nocombat, pet:boar] Boiled Clams; [nocombat] Cookie's Jumbo Gumbo
/cast [nocombat] Feed Pet; [combat] Mend Pet
/use [nocombat, pet:boar] Boiled Clams; [nocombat] Cookie's Jumbo Gumbo

Gift of the Naaru -- button SHIFT+2 in my video:

Mend Pet (Button SHIFT+3 in my video):

/stopmacro [channeling]
/castsequence [modifier] Revive Pet; [target=pet, dead] Revive Pet; [nopet] Call Pet; [target=pet] reset=15 Mend Pet, Gift of the Naaru, Linen Bandage

Multi-shot (Button 4 in my video):

#showtooltip

/stopmacro [noharm][dead]
/startattack
/cast Raptor Strike
/castrandom Mongoose Bite, Disengage, Wing Clip

Serpent Sting (Button 2 in my video):

#showtooltip
/target [target=focustarget,harm,nodead][target=party1target,harm,nodead]

/cast !Auto Shot

The little white seal button is my emergency "COME BACK" macro for my pets, assigned to CTRL+2

/petpassive
/petfollow

My "main" has almost the same macros, just without the /target line in them. I think the pet attack macro is the only different one...
Velai's (Main hunter) Petattack macro

#showtooltip
/stopmacro [noharm][dead]
/petattack [target=focus,harm,nodead][harm,nodead]
/cast [target=focus,harm,nodead,nocombat][harm,nodead,nocombat] Hunter's Mark
/script SetRaidTarget("target", 8)

I'm going to assume everyone knows how to read macros... If you have specific questions just ask. :)

What does the "!" do?

I think it's new with 2.4 -- what it does is remove the "toggle" that happens.

Since if you just go /cast Auto Shot and then /cast Auto Shot again, it will first toggle auto shot on, then toggle it back off again. The ! preceding the spell name tells the macro just to turn it ON, but not turn it OFF.

It's similar to clicking Heroic Strike twice, or Raptor's Strike twice -- it will toggle the attack on and off.

At least, that's what I got out of the brief and not-so-well-documented changes. ;) All I can say is that it works :)

That's awesome. I definitely have a use for that for wanding. Sometimes, 1 toon will just not wand and hitting it again will cause just that one toon to wand and the others to stop.

/agreed! Nice find Vyn. And a hell of a video. Although I appreciate the sped up versions of the instance it would be nice if it slowed down sometimes (particularly the boss fights) so I could get a real feel on how fast the mobs are dropping. Currently I have a twinked hunter group at 19... your video has made me want to revisit them and start leveling them again.

I normally speed up only so that I can fit into the 10 minute youtube limit >.<

I'll make sure to slow down the bossfights in future vids. They did drop pretty quickly tho :P I think I overleveled the instance a tad :(

What method do you use to assign focuses for each of your alts? I'm curious to know if there is a macro option to focus by raid symbol? That would be awesome for macroing poly with my mage team.

Not that I know of... :/

I just have my main set the raid symbol based on a keypress, and that same keypress assigned to a /assist <mainchar> /focus macro.

Velai's (Main hunter) Petattack macro

#showtooltip
/stopmacro [noharm][dead]
/petattack [target=focus,harm,nodead][harm,nodead]
/cast [target=focus,harm,nodead,nocombat][harm,nodead,nocombat] Hunter's Mark
/script SetRaidTarget("target", 8)

It's the last line in that macro. ;)

Vyndree, thanks so much for sharing!

I'm rolling 3 hunters and a shammy and knew there had to be a "better way" of doing some things and just didn't know how. The video and a couple of your scripts opened the door for me and I restructured my x-keys and modified some of macros based on what you shared. Specifically the lucky charms, targeting, and petattacks.

After I made the changes I headed out to WPL to test them out on the quest where you burn the scarlet tent down and place the banner. If you have ever done this quest you know it's a pain since the mobs are all together, hunters with the damn hyenas, and aggro hell. Anyways, I ended up with a huge cluster on my hands and if it wasn't for the changes I made based on what you shared, I know I wouldn't have survived. So thank you... and my lack of repair bill thanks you also. ;)

This. ;)

I don't like them to melee, since it breaks /follow, unless I specifically TELL them to melee. This helps me when I'm kiting stuff and need to walk past a mob. Normally they start autoattacking and lose /follow.

So, I want them to auto shoot, but not melee attack. So I use /cast !Auto Shot. :)

Using !auto shot isn't new in 2.4, but is unique to a few uses.

http://www.wowwiki.com/Useful_macros/Hunter

Anything on that page with auto shot is using the "!" modifier.

Will you be able to do heroics with 5 hunters? Are the 5 pets enough to survive in heroics or is this going to be a pure pvp team?

5 hunters would be a lot of fun, but I do wonder about what happens when you get stuck in melee range or in dead range during PVP

Given the amount of damage done in heroics and my lack of heals (lol GoTN + Bandage?) I seriously doubt I can be competitive in anything other than battlegrounds at 70.

can you res pets in combat? i was thinking if you had five pets tanking and you could just keep FDing to keep them tanking and hunters dont over aggro, and as each pet dies res it back up send it back into combat.

also i doubt very much that people standing in your 'dead zone' or trying to los you will last long with five pets running about

im currently trying out 4 hunters and a paladin, and killing everything with just auto shoot atm, im pre level 10 but haveing alot of fun cant wait for my pets still not totally sure what pet to go with, i knew boars had the charge, and were pretty good tanking.

any advice would be great,

Two words: AoE damage.

BC is full of it.

While you can rez pets in combat, I'm hearing reports after a recent patch that hunters can end up pulling aggro off their pet very easily with nothing but auto+steady.

Hehe I've been getting quite a few inquiries about my hunters, but haven't really had a chance to play them seriously. I rolled them when I was on my 1-week vacation between teams at MS, and they've kinda been collecting rest XP ever since.

I've been rather busy getting my main back into raiding and gearing up the pally, along with the shammies. It's amazing how it eats up your time when you actually try to be dedicated about that stuff.

Due to overwhelming response to the raid icon/focusing done in this video, I've elaborated a bit more about it here ('http://vboxing.net/v/index.php?q=node/154'): http://vboxing.net/v/index.php?q=node/154
