Ok so I just about scraped together some AH buys and some starter quests and got my team to i500 so I could start on the slag mines.
Ive completed it about 5 times now, over 50% drops have been bloody mail ! (im running 5 x prot paladins).
I think ive had 3 useful drops, not great out of a possible 25, that's how it goes though..
Nice enough instance, good pace, a little simplistic perhaps.
I went in with no idea about the boss mechanics.
haven't died to the first 2 bosses as theyre pretty simple.
For me, roald dahl is the trickiest, took me 3 attempts on my first run through and then I died to him again on my 5th run through.
Took 2 attempts to drop last boss.
Overall im concerned about the lack of difficulty as I was hoping they would have learned from the complaints about how 'faceroll' the last 2 expansions dungeons were, and Id imagine its a cakewalk with panda raid gear.
edit: I am aware that paladins are a defensively strong choice and may well be suited to this instance and it could be significantly harder with other setups. (might take my shamans in, all that mail!)

Haven't tried any dungeons yet, but... "I'm running 5 x prot Paladins". Really? Ret is so amazingly simple to macro in WoD, surely when you are questing, you run at least four of them as ret. As far as running Slag Mines, wouldn't it be faster to do 1 prot, 3 ret, one holy? I would think that the rets would do far more damage than four prots and speed things up considerably, though with the increase to tanking spec damage in WoD it would be interesting to see.

Its surprising but theres not really that much difference in dps really, ret gets better burst with avenging wrath but holy-wrath is strong on a single target (boss) and with avengers shield and harsh words its closer than you would think.
Plus Prot is more ranged and of course has some nice defensive cd's.
I think ret scaled better before the stat squish but now the numbers are closer.
Dunno, will keep an eye on things as I get better gear.
Definitely don't need holy in the mix. I use 5 x holy shield on the main tank and then 5 x flash of light on whoever needs it (altho this works better with ret when glyphed funnily enough).
TLDR: I do swap them to 5 x ret sometimes, I enjoy both, but the difference in dps isn't much.
forgot to mention bonus armor! makes a huge difference with mantid/deep earth elixirs giving me +260 AP as a tank

Please share your setup (rotation, macros, etc)! My Prot Pally + 3 Ret + 1 Holy Priest have just started Slag Mines and had been wiping again and again. Not even close to bring a boss down :(

When all your Dps are the same class then Rotations are simple, you cant go wrong really, and its unlikely to make the difference you need.
Since the stat squish lots of healers have been struggling and Ive found paladin heals are about the weakest so using a traditional setup with a paladin healer will be tough.
I can only suggest you try 5x focus healing like I mentioned above. (works with 5 x prot and 5 x ret, or a mix. no need for holy) Plus talent for sacred shield, which stacks, so you can put 5 of them on your tank which provides about 25% of max HP as an absorb every 5s. I find I can fire any needed heals off in between dps cooldowns and so not lose any dps, or not much, it never goes perfectly smooth!
