View Full Version : Dual-Boxing.com's "Multiboxer" Guilds looking for more!

As recently discussed in our WoW General forum thread Help me choose a realm to prepare for WoD + community events (http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/51425-Help-me-choose-a-realm-to-prepare-for-WoD-community-events), we have officially chosen two servers in the same Cross-Realm Zone (CRZ) block to host both an Alliance guild and a Horde guild called Multiboxer.

Our Alliance guild is on Sargeras, and our Horde guild is on Bleeding Hollow.
Here is the current list of US Realms connected to these two:

Sargeras
Illidan
Bleeding Hollow
Arthas
Black Dragonflight/Gul'dan/Skullcrusher
Auchidoun/Cho'gall/Laughing Skull
Azgalor/Azshara/Destromath/Thunderlord
Deathwing/Executus/Kalecgos/Shattered Halls
Blackwing Lair/Dethecus/Detheroc/Haomarush/Lethon/Shadowmoon
Alterac Mountains/Balnazzar/Gorgonnash/The Forgotten Coast/Warsong
Agamaggon/Archimonde/Jadenar/The Underbog
Andorhal/Scilla/Ursin/Zuluhed
Burning Legion

We will welcome guild members from any of these realms, so if you already have a team on any of them, feel free to join in! For people making new teams, we would ultimately prefer you join us on our home realms, but will leave that up to you. Just remember that some areas in the game, and some content, will not work with CRZ. But for the most part, anyone on this CRZ block should be able to participate in our community events.

When you're ready to join in, please make a new thread here in this guild forum ( http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/64-US-PvP-(H)-Bleeding-Hollow-(A)-Sargeras-Multiboxer) , tag the thread with Alliance or Horde prefix, give the names of the toons on your team, and we'll get you hooked up. Pretty please just multiboxing teams, your solo "mains" should be in another guild and not tagged as <Multiboxer> :)

Guild members will get a special badge here on the forums that shows up next to your posts -- one for the Horde guild and one for the Alliance guild. You can join both guilds with different teams and get both badges if you want. All the cool kids are doing it, so you totally won't look cool on the forums without at least one of these two badges! We'll also have badges for participating in community events down the road. (p.s. LF graphic designer to make a few badges, though I need other stuff done too)

To get things rolling, I've transferred my level 80 Shaman team onto Bleeding Hollow and I'll be levelling them up. I also have DK teams started on both sides, but I'll probably generally play a mixed team. MiRai will be RAFing it up sometime soon, after he gets situated in his new place, but in the meantime he's levelling up a solo toon on the Sargeras side (not tagged as <Multiboxer>). Both MiRai and I will have teams on both sides though.

There's fun to be had, join us!

Lax and Mirai, thanks for setting this up, sounds very cool. I'll have to look at transferring some toons over to Sargeras. A nice side benefit would be to level up in WoD on a PvP server that is 90% alliance instead of 90% horde.

My big concern is that I don't want to give the anti-boxer contingent any more reason to rage than they already feel they have. I can't imagine the hell I would have had to endure if I would have had "Multiboxer" above all my toon's heads all the times I played ten toons in LFRs (despite topping the healing and DPS meters) or playing three or four guys in a 25 man normal SoO. I have been amazed at how few people have said anything in the countless times I've run multiple toons in raids, but I fear my experiences would have been completely different if I actively alerted everyone who glanced at my toons by being in a "Multiboxer" guild.

While it didn't affect the final choice, I personally was happy with the fact that each server was pretty much dominated by the main faction it was going to be for because, as you say, it's much nicer to level (and do dailies, etc) on the new continent/planet when you're the dominant faction. I really didn't want to have the main server be so lopsided in terms of population that one faction would be at a major disadvantage when leveling, questing, etc.

However, because of the CRZ block we're in the leveling process from level 1 through (soon to be) level 90 is going to be all CRZ-enabled, so there will be a lot of both factions out in the world; and believe you me, there are places like Hellfire Peninsula which are a 24-7 warzone. >_>

Honestly, I did think of this after I tossed out the name as a choice I'd be okay with. Lax's first choice was taken and my first choice was taken, and rather than sit around for 72 hours trying to come up with a clever name for a multiboxing guild, we just rolled with it. I figured it would help show off who we were during world PvP, but it may adversely affect PvE'ers in LFR and what not.

We haven't discussed changing the name to something else, but for now if you're concerned about the hate that you may receive in a place like LFR you should be fine with leaving the guild temporarily during that period. You won't lose any guild rep for doing so if you join back up without joining any other guild in between. I only mention this because I'm pretty sure you used to do this back in Wrath (in LoB) when you were jumping into PUGs via trade chat.

I wanted to remind those who will not be using RaF to level new teams on these realms that Heirlooms will cost gold come 6.0 patch.. so that will make it easier 8)

Heirlooms
Heirloom items will cost gold (http://beta.wowdb.com/npcs/52037-zulna#related:sells;_!) instead of Justice Points once Patch 6.0 is live. The prices are currently 500 to 1500 and another 500 to 1000 to upgrade them. Also keep in mind that the Heirlooms collection tab was delayed (https://twitter.com/Rygarius/status/480048337266425856).

not anymore!

With the upcoming release of Patch 6.0.2, we’ll be sending the vendors who sell Heirlooms for Justice Points on a nice vacation.

As you might already be aware, both Justice and Valor Points are being removed as currencies from the game in 6.0.2. As we started to work on new ways to buy Heirlooms, we found that we were setting their value up for a rollercoaster ride. That's because we’re also working on a larger Heirloom system for a future patch, and we don’t want to introduce an interim pricing scheme that could temporarily devalue Heirlooms or limit how we’d be able to give them out in the future. Rather than make players face buyer’s remorse and hand-wringing decisions about when to buy, we’re going to give the Justice Heirloom vendors some time off while we work on improving the system as a whole.

One thing to note is that this change only affects vendors that sell Heirlooms for Justice. PvE Heirlooms will still remain available at the Darkmoon Faire and the Trial of the Crusader, and PvP Heirlooms will continue to be available for Honor.

I've been away for quite a while, but coming back now.
Originally, I started (1 character) on Bleeding Hollow; Undead Priest. I think I'll make a team there.

Any suggestions/needs for a 5 man group makeup on Bleeding Hollow?

I am back after a long layoff as well, and looking forward to giving it another go. I started a toon on Bleeding Hollow - Tauren Paladin named Tattanka. I was going to use him as a tank for my team, but then I remembered how much of a pain run speed differences can be. I'll have to put some thought into a team comp.

I most likely only have time to work on a single team, so before I invest the time in Bleeding Hollow, do you anticipate there being more multiboxers on alliance or horde?

Thanks for starting this, hopefully I'll see you in game soon!

I sincerely hope it is about even. If it's uneven, again MiRai and I plan on each having an Alliance team and a Horde team and we'll try to discourage people from all joining the same side. Our PVP battles will be much more interesting if the numbers are relatively close.

With that said, it's too early to guess what people will actually end up doing. :)

As mentioned in another thread , I've been away for awhile (joined in 2008), but, wanted to start up a new team.

Team is in the signature but, 5 Orc DKs and a BE Paladin that I'll have to level as a healer for 5 man heroics at some point.

I'll hopefully be on later tonight!

You could always roll a new team over there. That's what I'll probably do if I come back for the expansion.

What is the cheapest way to get a new RAF team going? I was going to go that route, but the cost of 4 new game clients seems pretty steep.

If you don't already have the keys lying around, then it's pretty much as Carbs said... Gotta wait for a sale. I just happen to have stocked up on Battle Chest keys over the years (I normally pick up 5 every time they're on sale) and I still have 5x MoP keys waiting to be used.

There is a semi-sale going on now. If you create a trial account then go to "upgrade" on the site, it's like $10.99 instead of the stated $19.99. Not $5 but still decently cheap if you are anxious. There is also a decent special sale for trial accounts on an upgrade all the way through WoD.

Honestly, I think that's going on at all times, but you first need to create trial accounts in order to get/see it (like you said) -- It's not something that Blizzard advertises as far as I know.

When I click on "Upgrade Online Now", the only options are $19.99 or $63.98 for the full WoD and a free lvl 90 boost.

Am I missing something?

I'm set up with my Alliance team now too - Chrystallus, Lockevya, Huntarov, Shamarova and Kseniya.
I went with RAF and separate Bnet accounts to get the cheap battlechest - but it feels a little strange with the chars spread out like this.

As far as I know you could have referred the same BNet e-mail multiple times so that the RaF invites all went to the same BNet account. Honestly, I don't even think it matters what e-mail you initially choose to send the invite to because when you click on the referral link in the e-mail, you're taken to Blizzard's site which asks if you already have an existing BNet account (which doesn't need to match the original e-mail address from the referral).

I tried that at first - but you will only get the good price on one Starter Edition per account, hence several accounts. On the next Starter Edition you can only choose between 19.99 and the 67 dollar package deal. I tried on two separate accounts with the same behaviour, maybe there's a trick to it but I couldn't find it.

So far the Alliance guild on Sargeras has more members. Hopefully closer to equal by the time the expansion is actually out. Levelling-wise I'd say Horde has it a little easier on this CRZ block in the popular zones.

Because horde across the country have more douches interested in locking down a zone to prevent leveling and it only takes one or two 90s across many servers to effectively close a zone to at-level players. Worst thing about CRZ.

Thought I might start a team over on Sargeras so look for a 5DK team starting up. I like the idea of skipping the first 55 levels or so when starting a team on a new server. They aren't RAF'd or even with Heirlooms since I don't have enough for a 5 DK team, never actually done one since I rarely do something other than a mixed team. So probably take a while for me to get them leveled. Sounds fun though to have a team/guild on a server with other mboxers though :)

Are these guilds still active on the servers listed?

I haven't played WoW in many years. I am thinking of starting up a new US Alliance level 100 Hunter focusing at first on leveling, exploring, and collecting rare/exotic pets and hate getting ganked when trying to explore/tame/etc. Long term I may start raiding again (with a main Hunter &/or maybe a Druid) and then may start multiboxing upto 5 WoW accounts again if I am having fun...

With that in mind I was thinking I should create a character on a PVE server and before finding this thread was leaning toward US StormRage PVE server.

I frankly don't really understand the implications of the shared servers/clusters/zones and what not and these days the difference between PVE and PVP servers considering the groupings of servers and merged zones or what not.

Overall I don't mind PVP when I want to go into a PVP area and expect it but I do not like getting ganked when I am doing other stuff (especially when taming pets and looking for rare skinned pets). I also have kids and they also like to explore and tame/collect pets...

Would appreciate any guidance or thoughts folk may have after reading the above.

Nodoze, I don't have an answer on those guilds being active since I haven't logged in my Sargeras alts for a while.

If you have any doubts about PVP servers, then I say go to PVE. I have a lot of characters on teams mixed on both servers so it can get confusing and annoying if I'm trying to phase a whole team to PVE. I've found it to be possible though.

I would suggest if you're interested in PVE, then check out the multiboxing guild Tripeel mentioned on Lightbringer server. I have a team in that guild and we've done some raids with teams of boxers. We even did a Orgrimmar raid for fun after a raid. http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/53813-US-Lightbringer-Alliance

yeah i strongly suggest your home realm be PVE so you can do the things you enjoy. As MickiClone suggested, we have a little group of boxers and friends that play on LIghtbringer PVE and have a good time. If you ever get the craving for pvp just have a 110 on a pvp server become your group leader for the day and youll be moved over to pvp shard.
