View Full Version : One wow window (out of four) freezing when not focused

I'm seeing an annoying problem when multi-boxing and wonder if anyone here knows what's going on.

My setup is:
- Main char running on main PC, windowed + maximised in WoW video options (1920x1200)
- Four clones running on second PC, each running under WoW Maximizer to use one quarter of the screen (4 x 960x600)
- Octopus used to broadcast mouse and keyboard

The problem is that the fourth clone on the second machine, displayed bottom-right, often freezes until I move the mouse over the window. This never happens with any of the other three windows.
Also, the character in this window also seems to lag a bit more than the others. It's always hanging back a bit when the four clones are following my main.
Another weird thing is that if I hit 'B' to open all my bags, the main and first three clones will open bags, but the fourth clone won't. If I hit 'B' again, they all close bags but the fourth clone then opens it's bags.

Can anyone suggest what the problem is and how to fix it?

Cheers.

Disable all addons for that window and see if it still freezes. I had a similar issue where the same alt would freeze up.. it was strange as all my alts are getting pulled from the 'alt' wow folder so the settings were all the same.

I've just noticed that the freezing also occurs when sitting at the WoW login screen, so I doubt addons have anything to do with it.

I also have exactly the same addons shared between all four clients (using symlinks/junctions) and have copied the exact same global settings to each client.

To further clarify, that fourth client window only seems to freeze when I move my mouse back over to my main screen, and will only unfreeze again when I move the pointer back over the frozen window.

I think I've worked out the cause of the problem.

I had my taskbar 'always on top' setting switched off so the WoW windows could use the full screen. I switched this back on and changed my maximizer settings to not use those bottom 30 rows of pixels, and the window hasn't frozen since.

I've always had my task bar up and that still happens to me from time to time. Can't recall it ever happening during battle, but happens a lot when flying, etc. I've gotten used to just moving my mouse through all the windows periodically.
