Did at one point. Decided that busting my ass and wearing tons of velvet in the southern california sun wasn't worth it.

I used to go to them, but then I dated someone in the SCA and it ruined everything for me.

The Student Conservation Association?
St. Cecilia Academy?
Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget?
Surgical Care Affiliates?
Society for Commercial Archaeology?
Society of Creative Anachronism?

I must know what SCA stands for!

That's the one. I have some other choice words I could use, but I try to hold out hope that my experience was not remotely reflective of the rest of it, lol.

Ditto with Texas. This year might be bearable, though.

Yesterday was the first time I have ever been, and since I am 46 now then I am probably not into it.

But I had an amazing time. Took my nephew and bought outfits, not the cheap costumes mind you but functional stuff. I went as member of royalty and my nephew went as my mercenary bodyguard. Threw some axes at logs, rode a camel, and enjoyed the cleavage bearing styles the ladies wore while drinking from a mug and eating a mutton leg.

I'd post a pic, but there's a chance you don't know I'm a geek yet so I probably shouldn't.
