Made a number of improvements to the AI of several pets:
Pets that belong to other players will now be less visible
Fixed a number of issues which could sometimes cause pets to not attack a nearby enemy or stand still and stop attacking the enemy they were currently attacking
Pets affected by these improvements include:
Call of the Ancients
Companion
Fetish Army
Gargantuan
Mystic Ally
Phalanx
Zombie Dogs
What do you guys think about this?
Anyone tested this out in the PTR? Would be cool to run 3x pet WDs without the pets just lurking around.

Why 3x when u can do 4x? :) I haven't multiboxed yet in the PTR, only played solo, but I will. The thing I dont like about 3-4x pet build is FPS. It lags the hell out of me. I would prolly need to multibox on 2 PCs so I don't drop too much. Besides that, its a matter of seeing if they really fixed the issue or not.

Because I use to play with a friend ^^
I agree, that is why it would be nice to get a feedback from someone who tested it out in the PTR

With the AI fix Gargantuan / Fire Tallman dog combo is pretty awesome. finished a T4 rift boss in matter of seconds..
Pretty disappointed about no Sycophant and Fetish army fix though..but hopefully it'll be added before 2.1 hits.
From just looking a legendary gems and whatnot I believe blizzards wants WD to be centered around pets than its other skills
Now I'm on a quest to have all my 4 wds have a useful passive on the hellfire amulet (i.e pierce the veil) to open up another pet passive.
With some tweaking on equipments to support more CC T6 with all pet build could be very possible in 4x multibox.
It could be placebo effect, but lag that occurs with massive pets seems let less "intense" with other players pets "ghosted" but when it comes to small stutter or lags theres a long list that can cause it (CPU, GPU, Connection speed etc. )

Awesome reply, thanks bushido685. I am stuck between choosing 3x crusaders, 1x monk/2x crusaders or 3x WD. But with this fix I am leaning toward WDs. Looking forward to hear from you again after you have tested some more.
So there is no fix on the fetish army even tho the patch notes said so? Maybe it is under progress then.

No probs :D
No mention on patch note when the sycophants passives can be fixed but Hopefully it'll be later addition to 2.1 such an amazing passive w/ full zuni and Carnevil combo
If you were running 3 sader 1 monk combo i'd say go nuts but since you're limiting out one space for your buddy I'd stay away from 2 sader 1 monk combo. one of the main reason being mixing loot pools with different main stats (monk dropping dex items and saders dropping strength items) which isn't efficient if you're farming for certain items. If you get your buddy to make a ZDPS pull monk that'd be the ultimate wingman for 3x multibox for any class
I guess my advice on 3 x multibox is keeping it in same main stat classes (WD & WIZ INT ) (DH & Monk DEX) etc..
Another advice is stick with one main stat class for a good chunk of time I've spent about good 3 months since ROS release all invested in WD builds and it paid off very nicely. There's a bit of grind from progressing on for better set items for certain builds and its definately worth it. Since I've finished almost all the builds I want w/ WD (minus SMK Dagger) I am currently moving back and forth btw wizards and WD's now since I can recycle items and jump to T3 right away

Interesting, and that is a really good tip, thx! I'll convince my friend to play a monk, hehe.
After thinking about what you wrote I agree when it comes to sticking with one main stat. And what you said about it paying off to stick with the same characters for a long time.
My only concern is that it wont be worth it if I pick the wrong class.

I think AOE and ranged attacks are your friends when it comes to Multiboxing. So strong class builds around that is a good starting point to look at.
Pet doctor is obviously good so I won't even add it to your considerations.
If you have 2.1 and Major changes in class in mind I really recommend Demon hunter ( I know been blabbering about WD whats with DH?)
with 2.1 1 point Dex converts to armor which means toughness (no more diamonds on main 5 sockets on armors to sacrifice DPS to survive high Torment)
The new buff on Shadow set (Perma Shadow power on 4 set: possible variation of builds based on runes)
Marauders set is a given
Natalya's set (amazing AOE build with Rain of Vengeance on low torment for Cache farming)
And there's probably lot of other items that complement really well with multibox builds in DH
Pull Monk synergy items and skills ( your buddy can share loot if he decides to go ZDPS monk and cluster arrow with pull monk is a really good combo IMO)
It really depends on your preference of course but thought I give my 2cent with changes in the new patch and your unique triple box party combo

The change I'm really looking forward to is this:
The collision boxes for the following pets have had their radii reduced
Zombie Dogs
Gargantuan
Fetishes
The main problem I find with multiple pet doctors is too many things running around and not hitting things. Part of that is the AI, but there's also just too many pets, especially in some of the rifts where there is less room. On live I end up running only 1 normal pet build and use carnevil on the rest. Haven't had a chance to test on PTR but hopefully this change will allow for 2 or 3 pet doctors to work together.

ya hop on PTR my friend no more Derping gargantuan
I've stacked fire elemental on every slot I can (Cindercoat, Magefist, Ammy, Bracer, SOJ) and tested Tallman's fire dog and it's pretty awesome
Remember that Fire dog does small AOE damages and it's equivalent or better than fetish from sycophant passive
As far as narrow path ways creating a bottleneck effect it just a strategic move you have to work around.

I really need to try it, but I'd like to know how effective all the pets squeeze together is now.

Finally tried out PTR. The pet issue is actually no longer an issue, the other WD pets are greyed out and do not bump into each other, or if they do it is not noticable. You get 100% out of all of the pets because they can literally focus on one target and not just stand there. I went from struggling on T4 with kill speeds to just blowing through T5 in my current gear setup.
This is a huge change in a positive aspect for Multiboxing pet classes.

Straight up cuts like butter. Was extremely enjoyable. First time ever doing Greater Rifts and got to level 27. The only thing holding back the WD's from doing better at this point is Exploding Palm which is gimmicky and is getting fixed soon.

Defintely agree with you 2.1 is a really good change for multibox pet builders. Gargantuan with wrath of protector is my favourite skill in 2.1 stacking fire elemental and its gg T6 rift boss.
I hope they introduce non-fire elemental legendaries in the future seasons that'll encourage different builds (i.e cinder coat ver. cold damge etc).
