Again I get problems and wowerror.exe popping up with each time I try to patch the individual installs. So I am thinking of installing it all from one directory and have heard that I can run all the WOW clients from one directory.
Does anyone have a how-to guide for running all the clients from one wow install instead of 5 seperate directories?

If you're on a mac it's a long complicated process
If you're on a PC, simply install wow and run wow.exe 5 times, preferably waiting for each one to load before hitting it again :p Though be warned, they will all use the same settings, and if you change any, it will save the last-saved settings to all of them next startup

Symbolic linking is your friend. Search for mklink.

Sorry schlange, I can't help on the windows side for running from one install, but I felt compelled to point out

that's not at all accurate.

It's all very easy on a mac :p
If you wanna run it from ONE dir, you simply copy the application file (Win: .exe) for each instance of the game you wanna open.
If you wanna do it with more than one dir, you simply right-click (if you use a 2button mouse ofc.) and click: Duplicate.
Done.

Apparently there is a problem with WoW & symbolic linking on Mac's running OS X:
