View Full Version : How do you protect your diablo bnet accounts?

So it seems like you cannot attach the same mobile authenticator to more than one bnet account. I don't want to buy physical authenticators, but I want to protect my diablo bnet accounts...
Any ideas?

It was suggested in this thread (http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/51109-Do-NOT-log-into-your-bnet-account-at-work!!!) that you can use SMS Protect with multiple Google Voice accounts forwarded to your main phone number, but... What are you protecting your accounts from?
Do gold farmers and hackers still seek out D3 accounts now that you can't trade items or gold and the AH has been shut down?

I thought about that as well, but I figured that if I can do it for free, why not?

I suppose you could still steal inactive accounts. And there's always good old fashioned malice. Still seems a bit like worrying about lightning

You're both right, there is always just that random dick that might want to screw with someone's account, but it just seems like a lot of work to do that for zero gain and I was curious if there were other reasons. Honestly, ever since they did away with trading and the AH I'm not losing any sleep over my other three D3 accounts not being protected with an authenticator, but maybe one day I'll pick up some more and just label them with with a marker so I know which is which when I'm prompted to enter a code.

Could hack them and sell them I guess, but you're probably right.

I have all my bnets on the same authenticator, not sure what you are really talking about.

If you had it like that before the change, then you were "grandfathered in," but Blizzard changed their policy on authenticators and multiple accounts over three years ago.

I use my main account (Linked with WoW) with mobile authenticator, the other 3 I use physical authenticator. Ever since I got hacked back in wow, I always put authenticators on my accounts. (Yes it costs money but prefer to be safe)

I was looking at boxing D3 recently, and ordered four authenticators (not sure how long the one I have will last).
Surprisingly, each of the accounts is still protected by the original authenticator.
I had five b.net email accounts, each protected by the same authenticator.
I later rearranged my wow accounts, so each of the first two b.net emails had five wow accounts.
Despite having no game accounts attached to the 'C', 'D' and 'E' b.net emails, they're still protected by the original authenticator.
I had not realized they had gotten rid of the auction house and real-money auction houses.
There's much less incentive to go after accounts, without the chance of monetary gain.
