Hey guys long time since ive really added anything to the forum i dont think ive really made a thread since the forum got changed, but keeping away from the fourm as i used to spend hours on here gae me more time to focus on leveling.

Im level 70 now with all my five shaman, i went instanceing with them and have managed to clear every instance pre the level 70 ones, and ventureing into SL and Bot now. In battlegrounds im doing fine, i normally come out of a game with top kills, most flags capped, most kills, most bases taken etc, alot of people that know me get really excited when i show up in a battleground.

My problem is arena, im not sure at all what im doing wrong, i first trying going with all five, big mistake i could normally down one or 2 but the end result would be a loss some twenty games with only one win i threw in the towel and decided to get a healer, a guild paladin who is a skilled pvper jumped at the chance to arena with me, i thaught ok this will sort out alot of my problems.

I was wrong, arena is still proveing a huge problem for me, i just cant seem to dish out the dps, i use exactly the same tactics i use in battlegrounds, kill healers, let fire nova totems take out melee with shocks in between so not to get silenced, but in arena its not working at all. Im not getting feared im just getting constant teams with more than one healer, always a disp priest holy paladin, and nearly every team i run up against out gears me in a big way.

Im getting to the point where i think arena just isnt worth attempting any more unless you have at least full s1 and epic rings weapon shield etc.

a small part of my problem is los and i havent cracked how i get around this, i can normally burn the opsoseing factions mana down before they finally take us all out, but then theres nothing left for me to fight with and at this point we are all dead anyway.

Is this teething problems becuase of my lack of gear?

thanks for the quick reply mate, wasnt sure as i asked a few people who do serious 5v5 teams about how i fight they said in a nutshell 'if your skilled you can beat any s3 team no matter what your gear is like' i have beaten one s3 team and i think it was a pure fluke after they had beaten me about four times before that night they just got alittle to confidant and sloppy so i took them down.

ill keep you updated with how things go as i work on getting more gear

Aye, it will be the same for everyone.

Though you should be able to get a 50% if you do your things right at least and minor climbage in rating, until you're decently geared out you will surely have problems nonetheless. I bet ya if Aelli would equip blues or starting level 70 gear, he'd go down as well. Because you're simply too overpowered (by others) in gear at that point. xP

I expect a tough start, but I'm setting on farming some gear asap, + the level 70 honor reward faction blue pvp set will help out a lot. Just try to get 8k hp and 100 resiliance minimal before starting though.. (Well, by all means start for farming some points, but I don't think having less hp/resiliance will get you anywhere but down. xP )

You can always beat better geared teams if you just do the things right and they don't, but ultimatly you won't have the power to down a good team if they're doing their things right too though. And you have to expect other teams not to make mistakes in arena.

Um. Yea, if someone told me that I wouldn't consider them to be very "serious" about PvP.

GEAR MATTERS in world of warcraft. Skill only comes into the picture when you have gear-capped people fighting other gear-capped people (i.e. S3 vs S3). Sure, you may pull off a lucky win if the stars align correctly and the S3 team makes a mistake that you can exploit, but they didn't get to full S3 gear by making mistakes.

Maybe a dumb question, but how are you specced? I haven't tried arenas yet (waiting another week or two to farm up slightly better gear), but I know that NS EM CL is pretty key. If you're PvE specced with ToW, you probably won't have the burst DPS to take someone out on demand.

Pretty much in the same boat as you are, rolling with 4 shammies and a couple of paladin guildies for the 5th. First time we entered it was 3 win and 10 losses, next time with a different pally it was 0 for 10... after gearing up a bit it was 7 wins and like 18 losses with another person. The 5th guy and gear do make a significant differences to your game, so my advice would be to just keep plugging away at it and things will get better. Keep doing the regular BG's for the other pieces of gear (wrist, boots, belt, necklace, etc) of course.

If you're losing more than you win, it's best to just have a team that you play 10 games a week for points, until you get some gear. And try to play at offpeak or wierd hours as you'll have a better chance of going up against scrub teams (in my experience anyhow).

If you want to play more than 10 games per week to work on tactics then consider having 2 teams, one to practice on that you don't care about the ranking, and another that you earn points from.

Might consider 3v3 with your friend for points as well, 1 healer + 2 dps is pretty strong there. You can put 6 people on a 3v3 team so just rotate shaman to get your games played in.

thanks for all the advice guys

to answer some questions im tow spec, i know im giveing up alot to not take ns but i find it very hard to give up somthing that boosts your dps that much in instances.

i might have a try without tow some time but atm im finding it really important even more so now my main shaman is allowed to raid elemental im always in a group with a mage and destro lock and a holy paladin just becuase i buff the crit by 3%
